A Quango, a Quango, it made me eat the mango - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

look! a huge shiny pile of mangoes and cheese and chocolate moulded into the shape of someone devastatingly attractive (that should do it)

Boco · 13/03/2009 17:43

I know, double whammy!

I loved Guad's 'Oh dear. That does sound a pickle.' very levelling and comforting.+

I don't need to exercise today now cos I made two rich fruit cakes and now have muscles in my right arm to put Geoff Cape into place.

The fruit cakes are so heavy they would do as balusts for a hot air balloon but smell tantalisingly gorgeous and have cranberries and blueberries in and NO cherries or candied peel.

Engulfs toot in a huuuuugge hug.

I have never smoked anything.

I am not moralistic about it but am very pleased about that achievement.

Bananas,
juice,
some anonymous vegetables in a curry.

BBBee · 13/03/2009 18:36

boco you could get a rubber glove and stuff it with newspaper and high five that because then it won;t feel so twatty.

BBBee · 13/03/2009 18:37

and you could use it to slap yourself when you don;t make round up.

am also intrigued as to what made attila think 100 was afro caribbean

FrannyandZooey · 13/03/2009 18:43

i want to experience an afro caribbean version of 100
i think it would be quite something

BBBee · 13/03/2009 18:44

franny - i keep missing you - am glad that ds2 skin seems better.

womblingalong · 13/03/2009 18:45

I know an Indian version of 100, would that do Franny?

womblingalong · 13/03/2009 18:45

Franny,

You sopund a bit happier? Glad DS2 is ok at the moment.

Guadalupe · 13/03/2009 18:54

Well pickle is quite comforting isn't it, though I prefer a bit of piccalilli or green tomato chutney myself, preferably on a slice of crumbly mature cheddar with herb soda bread. Maybe a glass of beer.

I have made a thrilling discovery that the two points for a glass of wine is almost twice as much as my glass, so I get loads more wine. Hooray.

Boco · 13/03/2009 19:00

Guad you could have a career doing those M&S food description adverts!

Thank you Bee, for your suggestion. That would be totally untwatty wouldn't it. I'll do that.

100 has her launch tonight! She's being launched. I hope she has a wonderful night.

Guadalupe · 13/03/2009 19:04

Could I? Perhaps it is a missed calling. I would rather just eat it.

Is it the launch tonight? How exciting! Well, 100, if you see a misty presence with lolling fruit for faces by the vol-au-vents, it is us in our collective spirit nodding and sighing as you finish reading pg 203 to wild applause.

Boco · 13/03/2009 19:07

If she sees that, I think it's fair to say she's over done the rescue remedy.

Yes Guad, you do amazing food describing. It's all crumbly, face sucky, weepy - just the fact that chocolate makes you cry means there's a career in there somewhere.

BBBee · 13/03/2009 19:13

virtual launch role play anyone?

Guadalupe · 13/03/2009 19:14

Hmm, shame I am having to quash one of my true loves. I shall learn to eat vicariously.

FrannyandZooey · 13/03/2009 19:14

yes wombling we need a gathering of 100s from around the world

yes i am better - cause ds2 is better, i expect
it's such a relief when he is ok, and he is so easy and happy
the other times seem just dreadful, by comparison

FrannyandZooey · 13/03/2009 19:17

Bee corking idea
i will be a jealous rival whose books have never received such critical acclaim as 100's
i will get sneery drunk and make barbed comments over the vol au vents, then make an unsuccessful pass at Mr 100 and be escorted off the premises in disgrace, with my hair all over my face

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 13/03/2009 19:18

and I will say, theze are not just vol-au-vents

FrannyandZooey · 13/03/2009 19:19

100 being launched

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 13/03/2009 19:20

it occurs to me when we do role play i usually end up with my hair all over my face

it's in lieu of actually emoting or doing anything funny

OP posts:
Boco · 13/03/2009 19:25

I knew you'd make a pass at Mr100! Book Launch Hussy.

stuffitllama · 13/03/2009 19:26

hello all

I want to read like mad but have only got half way through

had a good time and at a lot of baby kai lan and walked and swam a lot, also flight meals have a surprising amount of salad it seems

Franny you were very sad at the top of the thread, I haven't got to your wizard results yet but more reading tomorrow. I have been thinking for a while the thought that when L has had enough real things for his immune system to work on then it will stop working on itself. I don't think it's quite madness but when that implies that disease is beneficial it sounds like madness.

Womble I have read a little bit of your dd and I sympathise. I'm going to catch up tomorrow.

stuffitllama · 13/03/2009 19:27

my

you are all at it right now and I have no idea what's going on but i must go to bed

xxx

BBBee · 13/03/2009 19:44

i am someone who is convinced that the book is based on her and her life - I keep coyly telling people as such and franny believes me and wants me to sue for liable.

then i make a pass at 100 husband.

boco and carrot have cigarette holders.
