For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I just put this on the other thread, but you moved. I will say it again.

I've just been helping out at the school disco. They'd hired special disco entertainers, a man and a woman, who do dancing and shouting and limbo, and that 'macdonalds, macdonalds, kentuckyfriedchicken and a pizza hut' song. It's quite shocking isn't it, that song. I can say that here can't I. I turned to the woman next to me and said 'this is the most deeply offensive song ever made isn't it!' and she looked at me like I was a meany lentil witch.

Franny do you ever do that song?

The girls LOVED every second of it all, and came home, and sand the macdonalds song, and dp glared at me and said 'what have you DONE?'.

Are we uptight wankers?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/02/2009 18:56

No you're not.

Whenever I hear children sing it I wince. They love it though, but I hope it's more to do with the catchy tune and hand actions than it being fast food retailers.

Have made Valentines brownie, will report back later. A day early I know but I wanted to make it when dh wasn't around.

FrannyandZooey · 13/02/2009 18:57

yes i start the group with it every week
then we do "I'm a Barbie girl"

i went to a show with ds1 where the warm up was a man playing tv theme tunes and shouting "who knows what this is?"
ds1 sat there in consternation probably feeling like alien
me feeling like meany lentil witch

But have got dh v 10/10 valentines gift - muslie!!

pointydog · 13/02/2009 19:12

hey hey! Good thread title.

I like that mcdonalds song. I was doing as assembly once with a class and it was on the theme of healthy eating (but it was original and fun of ource [win]]). There were a few bits of music inserted to our playscript and this one was just ideal for the unhealthy family. Kids loved doing the actions.

Itsa not so bad, as Joe dolce would say

pointydog · 13/02/2009 19:13

I meant to

Boco · 13/02/2009 19:21

Are you a teacher pointy? I didn't know that. It's certainly very catchy. It's been going round and round in my head ever since.

SuperBunny · 13/02/2009 19:22

pointydog · 13/02/2009 19:37

brings us nicely back to the song

mollyroger · 13/02/2009 19:39

Boco, I've told my boys that I'd rather hear them sing swear words than that song.. they were shocked into silence

I am rough as a bear's arse and feeling terribly guilty as have been too poorly to make dh a present of any sort. Having said that, he did get a good hard sh*g earlier, so that'll do.

Have eaten nothing. drunk too much tea.

Boco · 13/02/2009 19:41

How about kentuckyfriedchicken or a pizza hut then?

Don't know about pizza express, it's not a huge one, but it might be fine at lunch time.

FrannyandZooey · 13/02/2009 19:45

our local one is always heaving even when not valentines day
people queue to get in

pinkspottywellies · 13/02/2009 19:52

You aren't the sticker monitor and I'm not incapacitated yet, thank you very much.

[territorial over stickers]

pinkspottywellies · 13/02/2009 20:03

What's the song?

Mushy peas
Carrots
Tomato sauce with peppers, onions and olives in
half each with dd of apple, banana, satsooooma
OJ

Thanks Fran - I know I don't have to agree to anything. MW didn't seem to though! Might have a sweep when I'm a week late, and will have monitoring after 10 days but not having induction until at least 2 weeks over (mainly cause it sounds bloody painful!)
