For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh yes, and sleep deprivation is fucking evil. I saw a mum with a 2yo and 9wo yesterday and we were chatting and after a while I said I bet you're bloody knackered aren't you? She laughed and said it was actually nice that someone was acknowledging the fact that she's getting very little sleep, instead of pretending that everything is ok.

Have you considered putting ds in a cot next to you rather than in the bed with you Franny? I co-slept with ds for 6 weeks. It was great at first but then we started taking it in turns to wake eachother up, so he went into the moses basket next to me and his sleep improved no end.

Good morning.

AtillaTheHoney · 13/02/2009 09:46

I would definately volunteer Fairlady,, you have nothing to lose and they would be mad not to have you.. You can practice on me..I am very tactile.

Lol at calling Pinks baby 'little'
Nesting {{hugs}}

Joins 'worried about Toot not having much to say' people!! (tease) .

H only saw the page I had had to abandon, as MN had logged itself out, but I didn't think we did that..... but he was mashed. He and DS were at each others throats again....sigh.

DS is absolutely thrilled with his Globe, I am so pleased.. My little man is 11! WOW!

My body has started healing itself properly...cuts and stuff don't stay raw and sore for ages..
And I am not bruising all the time!

Well things to do..coffee to drink, doughnuts to eat, people to see..

Hugs and handshakes....good day wished for all...xxx

That sounds very positive At.

How many dried apricots in a portion? I am eating 200gr which is about thirty I think. I really hope it's going to be three or four.

littlerach · 13/02/2009 10:32

Stuffit, I thought it was about 5.

Morning all.
half term has started.
So far so good.

Yes, Pink, a baby called Little would be fabulous.
Musli

Hey Toot, how are you?

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 10:34

thanks rach
i just came back because i think there is a List somewhere
100g of dried apricots sits ver' heavy on the stomach

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 10:36

well that's disappointing
three is a portion so I have eaten 5 or 6 but I can only count one, it's like juice

lemur not glamour -- in fact I think you would all probably be better than me at making more of the nutritional opportunities and adventure

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 10:38

i think that's unfair
judging by the initial results of my uncontrolled non double blind survey they contain a great deal of fibre

Guadalupe · 13/02/2009 11:00

Lemur - I really liked that film. It was very sad though.

I am feeling rough as a dog. Am necking every vitamin/herb/tincture I can find as well as boiling a fowl in an attempt not to be ill for tomorrow.

Blueberry
sultanas
melon
pineapple
apple
banana
garlic
orange juice

Guadalupe · 13/02/2009 11:01

stuffit - 30 apricots?

Boco · 13/02/2009 11:08

Are you really boiling a fowl guad? Oh no at you being ill, is it a flu thing?

raisins
banana

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 11:11

how awful Guad look shouldn't you be asleep
is there any way you can

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 11:20

no it was about half that, I felt a bit sick

you should go to bed

Guadalupe · 13/02/2009 11:24

I am really boiling a fowl.

Ds1 has been ill the last few days, he's only just got up to sit on the sofa with his duvet. He's been quite fluey. We thought it might be his foot getting infected, it looked a bit bad but gp said yesterday that his toe was fine and he had an upper respiratory viral tract infection and that he had to rest and he would be better next week.

Is that a long word for a cold?

I bought vit c and lemons as well as red nail polish at the shops this morning. I going come hell or high water.

Guadalupe · 13/02/2009 11:25

I can't go to bed. I have to look after everyone else. Dh is in London. I will lie on the sofa and watch crap tv.

Guadalupe · 13/02/2009 11:26

Ah, a meals on wheels has pulled up outside. Someone has thought of my plight.

Hmm, he seems to be going to the wrong house.

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 11:31

oh you have your sailors night don't you

have a wonderful time

i have taxi-ing children to valentine dances

sorry about ds1 no it is more than a cold isn't it

TigerFeet · 13/02/2009 11:34

Hi everyone

Struggling to concentrate atm so can I just copy and paste BBee's post?

re breastfeeding - had my booking in appt on Tuesday and the mw asked if I has bf'ed dd - I did for 7 months - she was rattling on about how fabulous that was and I said that I thought it was a bit rubbish really as I knew people that bf'ed until 3+ and do tandem feeding n stuff... well she said that it was very unusual... so I said that in the circles I seem to move in it's very much the norm. She was really pleased. Obviously extended bfing not the norm round here.

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 11:35

guad i think there is something very devilish which will give you a good night tonight and it is that thing that "dries up colds" -- what is it?

I never recommend stuff this pharmaceutical but it is liek a knock out blow to colds for ten hours

then you feel loads worse after which isn't good because all it did was suppress the symptoms

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 11:36

hello tf
are you still feeling sick

Guadalupe · 13/02/2009 11:42

It's tomorrow. I'll be fine by then. I'm not sneezing or anything I just feel really tired a a bit rundown and probably anxious about getting ill for night out therefore feel worse. I can think myself into illness.

TigerFeet · 13/02/2009 11:43

hello stuffit

still a bit, yes, but better . I have some new meds which hopefully won't knock me out. Signed off work for another week. I am utterly, utterly bored of this now!

I had a quick lurk on the PG tips thread (have lived abroad as a child and we had similar problems!) I'd be happy to post you some proper tea bags if it would help!

TigerFeet · 13/02/2009 11:44

My advice Guad would be to drink enough that you won't care if you have snot running down your face

Guadalupe · 13/02/2009 11:44

TF - I often feel bad that I 'only' bf ds1 for seven months, but it's still a fab start. I thought I needed a medal at the time as well.

stuffitllama · 13/02/2009 11:46

glad you're feeling better, the nausea is so dispiriting isn't it

tf i am just pathetic. when we travelled here we were up for anything. Nothing we wouldn't eat or drink. Now I seem to be on a constant search for mcvities or the right carrots. I mean complaining about tea here!

i think you need to sleep too
i am on a roll to get all the tenners horizontal before 6pm
