Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

FairLadyRantALot · 30/01/2009 20:02

Sauerkraut....well as much time as someone has full time stufying and looking after 3 Kids and a dh, lol....although, am doing my placement part time!
My placement is in handtherapy, and that really is very interesting.Lots of splinting, waxing, massaging, playing with putty and lots of little gadgets and stuff. It s actually an area which I might like to go into afterwards. I visited a hand therapy dept. before even starting my course, as preparation , and thought then that it looks so interesting! And of course hands are so important to us humans...although, possibly something we mainly notice when we loose the use of them, iykwim...ooops am rambling on, sorry!
"
lol Franny, at you going all at being given "born to be wild", lol
oh, and starfruit is nice...especially in a "Sex on the Beach" (Cocktail that is, )
oh and mamas boy is on on sky premier, and a bit of that movie is The |Smiths in the soundtrack etc...
And poor you having to deal with a waking up baby...so so hard!

Tatties....sorry that people take advantage of you....that is not right....

oh, 100 wow...

FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2009 20:04

fairlady that does sound interesting, the hand therapy
very worthwhile i would think

ahundredtimes · 30/01/2009 20:04

You don't have to justify anything. The barometer here is not what other people do but what you are happy doing. The thing is knowing that it is okay to say 'actually, doing this is too much. We need to re-think things.' If you're happy, and it all makes sense to you then that is the only thing that matters.

Nobody irons here. DH sometimes irons his own shirts, but only when he's got to go somewhere. We mostly loaf about in dreadful clothes, hyped up on coffee and then are overly keen on hearing about the dc's day when they walk through the door. Isolated and scruffy. DS1 was interviewed for a secondary school, they asked him what he wanted to do, he said 'I'd like to be a barrister' they asked why, he said 'well you have to GO OUT to work if you do that.'

ahundredtimes · 30/01/2009 20:05

Oh yes, of course, do email. I have no shame. I am about to turn into utterly undignified sales harlot.

FairLadyRantALot · 30/01/2009 20:07

franny it is...it is kinda like physio, in a way...but with the ot slant on it...and it is lovely to see what difference it makes to peoples lifes....

SauerKraut · 30/01/2009 20:10

100, I have seen it too, it looks fantastic, many congrats. Very much looking forward to reading it!
FairLady, you sound very enthusiastic and I can certainly vouch for everything you say, having benefitted from exactly that kind of thing!Onekind therapist who made me a special crochet hook and fork- I still have them and use them.
Sorry to hear about your stressful household, Toot.

ahundredtimes · 30/01/2009 20:13

God love you SK. You gave me Italy directions didn't you? I think it was you? You mentioned it then. You are all v. nice.

FairLadyRantALot · 30/01/2009 20:14

oh really sauerkraut, that is a co-incidence....
I think me deciding against returning to nursing and going into ot was possibly the best decision ever....(although, I do have to grin, just a little bit, when they say how busy they are...because obviously a nurses busy is erm, very different....but they are busy, just in a very different way...iykwim...)

SauerKraut · 30/01/2009 20:15

Yes- I hope you got there! You don't have to spare my feelings if you got hopelessly lost, shout away Was it a good holiday?

mollyroger · 30/01/2009 20:16

ok, fast moving thread, and not much time so

  1. Franny don't be cross, I wasn't taking the piss, you have to think of you in BFOB and the lyrics which say ''like a true nature's child, you were born, born to be wild'' in a bark sucky, natural, free spirit way.... I nearly chose Mother stands for Comfort (Kate Bush again ) for you.

100 I am so excited for you and the book I could puke! And I adore the smell of new books too.

Tatties, do you know, sunflowers are my absolute fave flower. You are far too nice to have people take advantage of you, and far too nice to worry about it. Just carry on being tru to yourself.

Toot, I will probably pass out with knackeredness early tonight but will 'speak' to you tomorrow. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming x

everyone else, love you lots.

mollyroger · 30/01/2009 20:16

oh and I don't do ironing.

ahundredtimes · 30/01/2009 20:17

Marvellous, and perfect directions. I was impressed. I'm sorry I should have thanked you already. Was a tip top Agritourismo actually, I would recommend, home-grown tomatoes and olive oil, outdoor oven, nice pool, acres of scratchy brown grass, friendly people, fantastic food. . [huge sigh]

I think we're going to Wales this year. [tight smile]

FairLadyRantALot · 30/01/2009 20:19

100, but Wales is nice too, you know....not in the same way that Italy is, but it is a nice part of this Island!

SauerKraut · 30/01/2009 20:20

You did at the time, fulsomely Sounds gorgeous.

Boco · 30/01/2009 20:21

100 I just saw that you are an 'engrossing new voice'. You need to send your publicist the info on Dark Mary Poppins, just to fill in the gaps. And the laudanum addiction should secure you a slot on Richard and Judy etc.

Am going to a party tomorrow in London and I have no clothes! Am tossing stupid clothes about my room saying 'that is no goooood'.

stuffitllama · 30/01/2009 20:25

100 that's just wonderful

FairLadyRantALot · 30/01/2009 20:27

feeling left out now....anyone...can you link me, please, to 100 book...please...

Boco · 30/01/2009 20:28

Franny yes, done tax return - it doesn't take as long as you always think it will, mine was about 20 mins. Most of that was working out that I'm not in a civil partnership after all.

pinkspottywellies · 30/01/2009 20:28

Please can I see 100's book as well?
