Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Franny wanted Lychee Lads, didn't she?
I'm not doing it

TooTicky · 02/02/2009 15:06

Feather, can you compromise and spend a certain amount of time in bed that you wouldn't normally? Is there any slightly unnecessary household task you could skip? Or could you pass any on to children in a bestowing-an-honour kind of way?

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 02/02/2009 15:28

Doc laughed at me having a moan....to be fair I wasn't doing it very well. Try to share the load but there is still so much to do.

Oh buggery crap !! (technical term).

You just have to get on with it really don't you.

Lets just waffle on until the thread does fall off the end of the world...what is the worst that can happen?

daisy99divine · 02/02/2009 15:29

Hello lovelioes!

Mango, often asthma can be grown out of, I have two friends terrible as kids ok now - of course I'm not a doctor but just a view to countenance possible gloom of diagnosis at 2? of course it may not be this!

FairLadyRantALot · 02/02/2009 16:48

awww 100...it's difficult when the Kids go through stuff that you can't really help them with...
however, I disagree with avis statement that children in school will only mix with the same agegroups...not sure, maybe Sven's school is unusual in this, but they seem to mix more in "likeminded" group and age does not seem to really matter...i.e. he is mixing wiht the skaterboy group or grebs or whatrever he is meant to be .Tbh, it did surprise me though....Sven had a haircut just before x-mas and we bumped into some 6formers and they all knew him and talked to him and stuff...but apparently they are mates...

Tiny, oh you poor thing....

lol mango at your pumkin leaf description...

stuffit...your description of people with and without the need for social comformity etc. it rings ratehr true...I was a bit of a social outcast as a Kid, because I just didn't fit in anywhere, I wasn't clever nor particularly pretty, sigh....but you know, a lot of those "cool" Kids have been stuck in our hometown forever not braving the world, whereas I moved away from home at 18 (only 2-3 hours away at that time, and of course in the end I ended up living in England)
rofl at your 10portions of fruit-shortbread biscuits, lol
for properties in the uk look on the rightmove website

lilrach and toot...glad your meet-up went well

Franny, hope you enjoyed your snow...
oh and is that morningpapers book you are talking about?

Oh no Boco, how annoying...

lol at Guads snowman, with smartie buttons...

Well, they closed the clinic early today, most patients didn't turn up anyway....we had a fair bit of snow...not masses , but the world is covered in white....driving on mainroads not a problem, but bloody hell the smaller roads are a mare...
f&v wise:
Watermelon (1 portion)
cunting Mango (2 portions)
cherries (2 portions)

will have leek and pees with Dinner and who knows what else...

stuffitllama · 02/02/2009 17:19

hello rant! you should write your own book
thanks for the rightmove tip. Can't you stay at home in the snow ..are you very needed?

too many people need to be snuggled up and given tlc.. it's not right.. I hope you get some internal peace soon feather

had a bitty old day in the end, am going to clean so i feel a bit better about things

i have no book but it sounds lovely, can you quote the things you are quoted on so that I know what I was doing wrong a decade ago

heard a great quote from a Lady Somebody or other asked for her top tip on the whole of life from beginning to end -- it was

"never leave a two year old alone in a room"

have been looking at pictures of snow. The children are furious and say it's MY fault they're not there playing in it, it's MY fault we're stuck here doing home work, and so on and so forth till death or bedtime

actually bedtime came an hour early because I put the clocks forward in the house

stuffitllama · 02/02/2009 18:02

Pink I hope you are ok
three portions French beans, two glasses juice, a banana
a rubbishy five

FairLadyRantALot · 02/02/2009 18:03

lol...if I would write a book I would peopl to sleep ...lol...

Well, being a student I didn't NOT want to turn up...but my educator send me home as soon as teh decision was made to close up, bless her....
I was going to go in tomorrow, because the patient I would like to use for my case study is coming in...but as his appointment is last anyway, he will probably be give a new appointment anyway, considering teh weather is so rubbish, and I suppose if not, I could ask my Educator to ask for me provisionally, that way I could start working on it all already....will see....

btw stuffit , you are weird ....cleaning to make yourself better (I wish I was inclined that way, my house would be spotless I reckon...
and oh dear at Kids being hard work....but lol at making bedtime early...I do that if required...

FairLadyRantALot · 02/02/2009 18:06

oh, to my earlier count I can now add:
Leek (2 portions)
mushrooms (1portions)
Carrots (1 portions)

so 9 so far, and will probably have some clementines to make up my 10

mollyroger · 02/02/2009 18:11

grapes, satsumas, strawberries, soup with carrots, tomatoes, beans, lentils, celery; mincey bake thing - beans, carrot, mushrooms, tomatoes, onion.

I have to go and see my friend whose little boy has suspected bi-polar. She is, understandably, in deep shock.

SuperBunny · 02/02/2009 18:24

How are you, Feather?

Am glad LR & TooT had fun.

Mango, my DS has had a cough for about 3 weeks now - I honestly just think it is just something that is going round atm.

I still don't know what floral dance is.

Peas
Salad leaves
dates

ahundredtimes · 02/02/2009 18:24

Gosh Molly, that is quite shocking. How old is her boy?

1 banana

I meant to say before spinning off last night, that Avi's vegetarian feast sounded lovely. I want to know what her guests thought and whether they loved her for it.

SuperBunny · 02/02/2009 18:26

How old is he Molly?
