Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

pumpkin leaf? Are they not quite bristley?

I am sort of here...

mangolassi · 02/02/2009 07:41

they're bloody hairy, Toot. Kind of like dragonfruit, I'm just eating them cos they're here, not recommending them...

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 02/02/2009 07:42

If you have snow...you have to make a big smile in the snow as it is 'spread a smile' day.....

mangolassi · 02/02/2009 07:42

did that make sense? Dragonfruit isn't hairy, it's another thing that I don't recommend

TooTicky · 02/02/2009 07:43

i grew a pumpkin last year. Haven't used it yet. Marvelled at the leaves.

TooTicky · 02/02/2009 07:44

we don't have snow, just coldness and numb toes [eeyoreish]

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 02/02/2009 07:46

Tell me to go and sort the children out...I have felt like fainting 3x now and keep phasing out...I think this is not good

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 02/02/2009 07:47

mangolassi · 02/02/2009 07:56

TooTicky · 02/02/2009 07:56

Feather, I hope you are okay...

TooTicky · 02/02/2009 08:00

Yes, listen to mango.
Oh, I have to go out soon and I won't know what's happening

stuffitllama · 02/02/2009 08:23

the floral dance was something else -- ds came into my room wild eyed and wild haired at 6am and wailed "what are you DOING to me"

he got up an hour later, shoes and socks thrown into the car after him as usual

..hope you're ok feather

hi mango ..coconut juice.. is that as it comes from the coconut or is anything added?

I am doing pork in coconut tonight with anything random in the fridge, have no money for the Monday shop as have spent it all on tickets for a big night out "under the stars" hurrah

daisy that's a rotten builders story.. really the stuff of nightmares. "Don't mind us love" zut alors.

Bun hope you aren't gloomy this morning.

mangolassi · 02/02/2009 08:24

hopefully tiny's not answering because she's in bed. If you're reading this, tiny, go and ring doc's now. Lie down and ring them.

mangolassi · 02/02/2009 08:28

stuffit! yep, coconut juice direct from coconut. (Is it juice? It's not milk, that's something else) The juice is tastier if you get the ones they've precooked, but then you can't eat the meat (it goes weird and rubbery) so I get mine fresh.

at anything starting with 'big night out'... will you have to live on coriander from the garden

stuffitllama · 02/02/2009 08:33

Toot and 100 vibes for your pickles and mine too.

It's an odd thing to be relaxed about social conformity and acceptance for ourselves but then to find ourselves so pained about it for our children.

So often you hear though that the "different ones" are those who stride out, explore different ways to be happy ..while the kings and queens of the school stay put, don't leave their home town, and at 45 are still going to the same pub where they celebrated their A level results.

Not that there's anything wrong with that, God if it makes my children happy they can have it on a plate. But if they have the self-reliance to want more, even if they want to leave to escape unhappy memories, then it's a road to more opportunity.

In other words, what you all said about finding their place when they're older.

10 portions of fruit shortcake biscuits

stuffitllama · 02/02/2009 08:35

mango I didn't want to call it milk at the risk of being told off
is it where you stick a straw in?

stuffitllama · 02/02/2009 08:40

am surfing the net for a small property in the UK

it is hell for some people isn't it

mangolassi · 02/02/2009 08:40

Exactly. And I usually drink the juice, then shove it back in the fridge for a bit before eating the meat, otherwise it's a bit slimy. Very particular about my coconuts, me.

(It's probably where I put all the energy the rest of you put into baking and amazing 3 course meals)

stuffitllama · 02/02/2009 08:44

have just read the latest prognosis for the next year or two .. very depressing reading

littlerach · 02/02/2009 08:47

Feather, Hope you'r eok.

I am meeting TooT in just over an hour
