Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

I like lychee lads a lot.

Dp not twatty today, I don't think. We went to Canteen in spitalfields and met friends and had eggs benedict for brunch. Was lovely.

Last night I borrowed Kate Moss dress ( didn't borrow from Kate Moss) , quite 40's, above the knee, am borrowing it for this thing in norwich guad, if there are still tickets. It's nice.

I would give even a twatty dp/h house room at the moment [wistful]. Mine has twatted off to India at 24 hours' notice and all dcs are on 2 weeks' holidays.

FrayedKnot · 01/02/2009 20:59

Hmmm...I thought Polly seemed familiar.

No idea unless she gives clues though.

Pink, sorry you didn;t have a great day. Tomorrow will be snowy and you must nothing.

What was the party like Boco? Were there cocktails and shoes?

Driving is weird. I used to hate it, for years after I passed my test, and now I quite enjoy it. I don;t know what happened to change how I feel about it.

ahundredtimes · 01/02/2009 20:59

Having decided 11 years is too long to be neurotic about weight gain, I am now being neurotic about aspergers. I don't have the energy for neuroses as a rule. I might have to go and lie down I think.

ahundredtimes · 01/02/2009 21:00

Oh but pleased your trip was a success Boco.

Mine not twatty today either. Pink - LIE DOWN you are tiring me out.

pollycazalet · 01/02/2009 21:01

Am back. Kids wupped me at Pictureka. Have just endured enjoyed a run-down of the relative weights and heights of the whole Liverpool team from ds. Am all footballed out.

Feel I have been unnecessarily enigmatic. No, I haven't been on this thread before so none of you know me. I think I seem familiar because you're all so damn welcoming.

Boco am gnashing teeth in at Spitalfields and brunch. Bet it was nippy in there today though.

DH has been a perfect sweetheart all day today but is now downstairs rocking out with friend on guitar - do I win?

SuperBunny · 01/02/2009 21:04

What is Pictureka?

I am enjoying my last Earl Grey tea bag. I must go and have a bath, make some bread and do some filing. I have done bugger all today.

pinkspottywellies · 01/02/2009 21:06

Guad, you do seem to have ongoing key throwing issues

DH's twattery is probably all my fault and not him being twatty at all but I guess as a follow on from last week being the first time he's actually helped me with anything - and the fact that I had to fall apart to illicit said help - today, he got all on a mission in the baby's room and I joined in and we were very busy, then I went out to buy mattress and paint and he did stuff at home. So far so good. Although I probably should've sat down at some point, which is my responsibility not his. Then I got home, cooked the tea and went to put DD in the bath and he sat down with the pute. 'Oh' I said 'I should really sit down. Have been on the go since 7.30' (he lay in til 10) Never mind, I thought, I will do bath then sit down. So I sat down while he read story and then he shouted me up to 'just finish off'

Ok at that point I should've just said NO but ffs he knows I won't.

And then after I was in floods of tears being so knackered (yep there go the tears again!) I said I should've had a rest, but also that he could've suggested I had a rest and he said he's been trying to tell me stuff for years and I don't. I pointed out that now isn't a good time to start 'telling me straight' as he put it!

Anyway, I guess the problem is that I'm the bossy one and he doesn't come over all masterful and helpful, just cause I'm pg and weepy.

God this is a bit epic - don't suppose anyone's read this far!!

Anyway. He also doesn't really appreciate pregnancy and how it can affect one. And you know when you say something like 'I feel like a big whale/heifer/lump' and real men say 'no my sweet, you are a strong beautiful woman and you are carrying my child which is an incredible thing' he looks a bit disgusted and says 'never mind it'll be over soon'

Well, hope no-one actually read my self-indulgent crap. But I feel better for saying it!

Boco · 01/02/2009 21:06

Well, no, I wouldn't say that trip was a total success. It was largely angst filled for me. But there were lots of nice shoes and champagne and dancing and stuff. We went to AWFUL club in covent garden. I felt like I was in that scene from Basic Instinct where MIchael Douglas and Sharon stone do shit but slightly animal dancing. There was far too much dry humping.

Polly you ARE familiar. Is it a secret?

FairLadyRantALot · 01/02/2009 21:08

oh dear at all the dh/dp's that deserve the twat of the year award right now...mine wasn't to twatty today...but well, he got his moments...

frayed...I know what you mena re driving...I can now sometimes find it quite relaxing...

Sauerkraut, oh no, at you being alone with the Kids and them being on Holiday...

pinkspottywellies · 01/02/2009 21:10

I'm lying down by the way.

And I'm going to list and you must all say that I did well...

Sorry about ds Franny - I felt miserable about dd when hers was bad.

Tomatoes
Lentils
Mushrooms
parsnips
green beans
apple
spinach

I seem to be stalling at 7.

pollycazalet · 01/02/2009 21:20

Boco I love that scene mainly for Michael Douglas's choice of nightclub attire - a grey v-necked pullover with nothing under. I imagine there's chafing.

Pink sweetheart you sound very like me. You are a strong woman and used to being in charge and running things your way (and hugely efficiently and well) and you go and go on and go on and then you feel exhausted and fall apart. I bet it's only when you burst into tears that your DH notices you're upset? You've got to take your foot off the gas my love. It's doing you no good at all.

pollycazalet · 01/02/2009 21:22

yosk is, as any any fule kno - yorkshire puddings. Typed with a hangover....

SuperBunny · 01/02/2009 21:23

Pink, well done. Sorry you had such a hard day. Please have a quite day tomorrow. Why did he lie-in? Next weekend You MUST TELL him, he is to take care of DD and you will have a li-in and you must not be disturbed until they bring you brunch on a tray with a flower.

SuperBunny · 01/02/2009 21:24

Picureka looks good

SuperBunny · 01/02/2009 21:28

Doesn't someone on here speak Italian?

Can you translate [http://www.ilpranzodibabette.com/index.php/2009/01/30/quinoa-con-broccolo-pinoli-e-zenzero/ this quinoa recipe]] for me? Purlease x

Guadalupe · 01/02/2009 21:31

Pink - that's the sort of thing we think men should say and no doubt there are some who do, but I reckon most don't exactly follow the expectant wailing with the right combination of reassurance and sympathy and adoration.

You have got to just tell him to do stuff.

Boco - lucky you, you've found a dress! Crap all on ebay. Why was it angsty?

SuperBunny · 01/02/2009 21:32

I'll try again

this recipe

Guadalupe · 01/02/2009 21:34

100x - how have you decided you are no longer worried about weight, or does it have to replaced with another neuroses?

I followed my pears with a bounty ice-cream, the actions of someone longing to be thinner clearly.

FairLadyRantALot · 01/02/2009 21:45

oh bounty icecream....hmmmmmmmm...sigh.....

SB, sorry don't speak italian...

FrayedKnot · 01/02/2009 21:48

Quinoa with broccoli, pine nuts & ginger

180 g quinoa
1 medium head broccoli
salt
Tbsp pine nuts
Tbsp grated ginger
2 Tbsp olive oil

Wash and split the broccoli into pieces. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil and add the broccoli.
Cover the saucepan and cook for 3 mins.
Blend the broccolli in a food processor and keep warm.

Wash the quinoa several times and boil for 10 mins in salted water.

Toast the pine nuts. When they have slightly coloured, take them out, and then warm the oil with the ginger in the same pan.

Dress the quinoa with the creamed broccoli, olive oil, ginger and pine nuts.

ahundredtimes · 01/02/2009 21:52

I decided on this thread I had to stop, as I realized 11 years is too long. Then quite quickly my mind cast about all on its own to fix on to something else. Hey presto! Apsergers appeared. I'm not v. neurotic, I repress as a rule, but then sometimes there are seismic mental shifts, like today, the tap is unstaunched. . .

Why angst Boco?

Polly - y y, we don't know you - but as Molly v. quickly asked, do you know us?

Pink. Spell it out, I think it's the way to go. They can't be blamed for not reading the signs, they don't even LOOK at the signs most of the time. Am pleased you are lying down again. Also you know the spelling it out habit good to get into before number 2 arrives.
