Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 20:48

Oh, drool. I love Apple Pie. I am making a HUGE one tomorrow that will last me all day a few days.

TooTicky · 31/01/2009 20:51

Just cook them and eat them. With cinnamon.
Or pie with wholemeal pastry or crumble with oats and coconut and sesame seeds.

FairLadyRantALot · 31/01/2009 20:51

more and more es will ask me what the lil ones have done when I shout at them and if he approves of my "punishment" he will nod and if he thinks that I am over reacting he will tell me, that I shouldn't have shouted at them

lol Toot at your messy house competition

Pink, oh Atonement is a beautyful movie...originally I thought "gah" and than I watched it by coincidence and loved it!
Glad you did seek advice and that all is fine! That is a relief...

Well...not sure what just happened to my mumsnet...all of the sudden , for no reason, I have a wide bit on teh right hand side of my thread...how stupid is that....it's completely empty....hmmmmm....what is the point in that...and it is just weird, because it happned as I was pressing on reading the next page...

Anyways, am feeling a bit today, as my cold seems to have gotten worse again....full of snot and when I cough you can hear the phlegm rattle...yuk...and tmi, I am sorry!
Took the Kids to hell softplay....twas alright and they enjoyed themselfs...not much else to report, as for fruit and vegetable if I am lucky I am making it 2....
Am thinking of stopping togo to Slimming World, because well...I been going since last year may and certainly have not gotten anywhere near where I did want to be by now...and it's so expensive...so, might try a while on my own...still gonna follow the plan, I suppose....

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 20:56

Fairlady..I lost my weight on my own so if you need a buddy. I am with you all the way.

Do you need to see someone about your cough? Doesn't sound good.

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 20:59

Ooh is it peppermint montezuma Guad

FairLadyRantALot · 31/01/2009 21:00

cough will go...just typical cold or left over from cold....I suppose it's better that it is loosening...iykwim...

oh and a weightloss buddy sounds good...

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 21:06

Interesting sandwich combination Pink....you can tell you are pregnant.

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 21:09

No, Pink, it is Dairy Milk as I am still slightly cross with you.

Oh dear, Mou, my renovation being like a blog sounds very dull. I hope I haven't bored everyone with it. Just to bore you a little further, there are now no ceiling joists in the kitchen ceiling and no floor in the rooms above so you look straight up to the top of the house. It's a bit scary tbh.

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 21:12

No! No, guad, not in the least boring....I sort of look out for your posts. It is like the excitement of renovating a house but without the stress of doing it....please don't stop.

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 21:15

I'm really excited about your house too Guad Keep updating us.

AIBU? I want to buy baby stuff!! We don't need anything but I want to buy cute things. What can I get?

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 21:18

Oh, buy stuff Pink.

Are you nesting?

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 21:20

Oh, and Guad, I actually looked up when you described there being no floor above the kitchen !

FairLadyRantALot · 31/01/2009 21:23

guad...sound stressful, but will so be worth it in the end!

Oh, and got a link to 100's book and wow...I will be buying it!

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 21:25

It makes me think of The Amytyville Horror where he looks up at the ceiling and can see his son going to the loo with a ghastly figure in the corner. He assumes he is dreaming but in the morning the boy says he was scared when went to the loo as he could look through the floor and see his dad.

I feel quite angry towards my mum that she didn't monitor my reading actually. I was 11 or 12 when I read that.

anyway, I will get round to pictures at some point. I can't get them on here.

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 21:25

Right, that is it. I am going to go and create something before I retire,

So goodnight all...happy nattering.....

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 21:26

I need to be nesting - got to paint shelves, put up cot, get moses basket down, clean behind washing machine, clear more stuff out of his room, pack hospital bag for afterwards, put up new curtain rail and curtains, buy cot matress (boring) yadda yadda yadda!

I just want to shop for cute things

Guadalupe · 31/01/2009 21:31

Oh, oh, the farm! Jimmy waved at me. Well, I think it was him. He drove past when I was taking stuff back to the car and I can't imagine who else a tufty blond haired man in a landrover would have been i it wasn't a farmer waving at someone carrying bags of his pig.

The sausages were delicious and I have huge block of belly for tomorrow. Never cooked it before.

Franny - Those guinea pig houses were hysterical weren't they? I found mysel saying I must have one of those things in those houses a bit like Verucca Salt but then we moved on. We didn't go in the cafe, we got hot dogs and hot chocolate in the outside kitchen. LOL at the cafe not being good because it was full of meat products on a pig farm. I know what you mean though, they could have had some good cakes.

FrayedKnot · 31/01/2009 22:04

Well done pink...glad MW was reassuring

Have been to the Natural History museum today, was v. v. busy but not so bad in the geological bits so we spent a while in there. Couldn;t get anywhere near teh dinosaurs though

BBBee I jsut had a big bowl of stewed apple with cinnamon and yoghurt

If I get cookers I make a big batch, it keeps for ages in the fridge.

womblingalong · 31/01/2009 22:11

Oh Pink, glad you are ok. My heart was in my mouth reading that. Choc and bacon sandwiches sounds like a real taste sensation

Have just woken up, having fallen asleep with DD.

Spoke to DH, but felt like he would come over like a henpecked husband to his mates if I asked him to come home. I asked him to decide when to return, so he has decided to call me in the morning, and come back then if I have a bed night with the DC's.

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 22:16

Wombling glad he's at least thinking about coming back a bit early. Hope you have an ok night.

It wasn't chocolateandbacon! Guad gave me choc and BBB gave me a bacon sandwich!!

womblingalong · 31/01/2009 22:32

Pink, I was teasing about the sandwiches!

Sleep well.

SuperBunny · 31/01/2009 22:35

Is Atonement the movie better than the book?

Fairlady, feel better soon.

Pink, I think you should stop diong so much. Especially after your our scare today. Chocolate and bacon sounds quite good to me - I have seen lots of recipes recently for chocolate and bacon cupcakes/ turffles/ marshmallows so other people eat that combination too.

What can I do on weekends alone? That doesn't cost anything? I usually pend 1 day cooking and often see friends but what else? I know it sounds silly but I get bored and lonely without DS.
