Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 16:41

had big row with ds1
he was worried about where i had put ds2 to sit and insisted he could fall and bang his head
i stubbornly said no he couldn't and refused to move him
so ds1 went and got a tape measure to prove me wrong
laid out a metal tape measure on the floor next to ds2, who promptly fell on it
of course
no harm done but could have cut his face etc
we had words

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 16:41

i shall just sit here and talk to myself, shall i? fine. that's fine

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 16:43

dh has taken dd out, bless him. DD only whimpered a little bit

Oh Franny darling I'm sorry but I did chuckle re ds1/2 and the tape measure...

I didn't realise Jimmy's farm was visitable but I think Essex probably a bit far from here for a day out

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 16:55

this is what we are using
it's really nice, i like putting it on him
thank god it turns out to be kosher and not something contraband
a lady from my group gave it to me along with loads of other questionable things which i haven't dared use
very kind of her
she said we would have to wait till march when she goes back home to get more
but hoorah have found on internet

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 17:03

that looks lovely

I could do with some myself, I have incredibly dry skin in places

DH and DD are on their way back in, I can hear fumblings at the back door. They went out to get dd's friend a 5th bday pressie - wonder what they got? I suspect pink and glitter may be involved.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2009 17:05

actually i think we have the cream not the lotion
but it's nice

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 17:10

oooh they have done rather well

stripy socks and googly eyes and things with which to make sock puppets

may well have to nip out in the morning and buy the birthday girl something else

womblingalong · 31/01/2009 17:11

Hello from the hellhole, am having a mare. Excuse the me me me rambling.

DH is away with his mates, DD has virus, fever, strp throat and was sick today, has not eaten properly since Thursday, and is as white as a sheet and tearful. DS keeps upsetting her, and has been clingy and whingy velcro toddler, and was up for 3 hours last night, DD came into my bed at 4.30, and when DS fially woke up, her was covered in chicken pox spots.

I have ear infection, and have started to feel decidedly dodgy in the stomach area. The children won't leave me alone/play by themselves/sleep.

Any ideas ladies, should I call DH back early or soldier on until tomorrow bedtime?

womblingalong · 31/01/2009 17:12

Oh oh oh, TF, congrats, I am so pleased for you. Does DD know? How has she taken it?

TigerFeet · 31/01/2009 17:24

Hi wombling, and thanks

We have told dd and she is excited but she's been very upset at how ill I've been. She'll be a fab big sister I hope think.

If I were you I'd be on the phone to dh pronto - that's too much for anyone to cope with on their own. Hope he can get home. Is there anyone else you can call on?

womblingalong · 31/01/2009 17:27

OH the poor thing TF, have you has MS very badly?

She will be fab, i'm sure, she is old enough to understand and be helpful, and the fact that she is at school will give you some time with the newborn. When are you due?

TooTicky · 31/01/2009 17:37

Oh Wombling we have poorly children angst too. Hope dd perks up instantly!

womblingalong · 31/01/2009 17:50

Oh TooT, all 4? Poor you, what's up with them?

TinyANiceShadeOfLilacFeather · 31/01/2009 18:14

at 'voluptuous and peachy skinned'

How does a combination of bony, muscley and milk bottle pale sound....alluring?

I want to go to a party....well maybe not a party but OUT would be nice...a run along a beach followed by a picnic.

Falls off chair at cost of Lemur's haircut!! I haven't been to the hairdressers for errrrrr....12 years

Poor DD LR, they do get themselves in proper pickles don't they.

Poor you Wombling. it sounds like you need someone to look after you...

Have successfully managed to be a 'darling' at MIL's today and I was a very good girl, on my best behaviour and didn't have any controvertial opinions!!

God, I need a stiff drink....but tomato juice will do.

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:15

hi Toot, how's your day been? do you have peace in your house yet tonight?

hi womble I'm glad not to have missed you. sorry to hear yours are poorly too.

Fran have had a thought. About looking at it as a symptom rather than the actual THING and trying to sooth down his immune system not just his skin (though that would be a start I know, not trying to diminish it). I'm sure you know my position on vaccs.. anyway wasn't sure whether you had gone down that route. There is a homeopathic "antidote" to the damage/effect that they can have on the immune system. Have you considered this at all.

Tiger you can have my shelves and shelves of craft stuff. It is very sad. Have been collecting shiny sweet papers, stickers, coloured pipe cleaners, lolly sticks, porcelain paints, fancy ribbons and shape punches, bits of felt and fabric and google eyes, the whole lot with a fried egg on top for twelve years and we even brought two boxes of it out here. But now the interest has just gone. This Christmas no cards or advent calenders were made for the first time. I ache for glitter in the toothpaste again.

ahundredtimes · 31/01/2009 18:17

Oh Wombling that sounds pretty rough. Give everyone drugs and send them to bed? [repetitive] Ill children are the pits. Am so sorry.

DD - not ill - has just come back from town with dh and ds1. They all came through the door shouting and screaming that she'd fallen over, damaged her teeth, she emerged with a mouthful of blood and I did jumping up and First Aid ordering instructions and whisked her up by the sink - and then noticed they were all laughing. Grrr to the joke shop pocket money visit.

lol Franny. He'd get on well with ds1. We once went for a walk by a river, and ds2 and dd wanted to play on these trees by the riverbank. And ds1 said to me 'do you really think it appropriate to let small children play there?' and I said, through gritted teeth, 'yes, we all need an adventure' and they Both Fell In. And ds1 didn't say a bloody word, but he gave dd his jumper to wear. I do like ds1 so very much, but we do have a lots of these sorts of conversations

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:17

Hi feather and well done on mil day. If I was Pink (were Pink?) I would give you a certificate AND a badge.

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:19

you are both lucky Fran and 100 -- they will be more organised than you and remind you to put PE kits in the washing machine and sign off their homework. It is a Good Thing.
