Original post by the lovely FrannyandZooey

For anyone who wants to boost their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - If you don't normally eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 mins is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restictions on what you eat as long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving your energy levels and hopefully mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you are getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Well Franny's might but mine is eleven, and well couldn't give a monkeys about his PE kit tbh. Though he does like to point out errors. Can't think where he gets that from. Tra lah lah lah [sticks fingers in ears]

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:23

of course the barrister conversation

we are fully open in our house about organisation (dh + 2) and disorganisation (me + 1).

so much so the children even remind me about groundings I have forgotten about

TinyANiceShadeOfLilacFeather · 31/01/2009 18:25

If 100x is Mary Poppins can I be Nanny McPhee....or has somebody already bagged her?

mollyroger · 31/01/2009 18:25

Wombling What a grim time you're having! When will dh be back? Perhaps you could ring and warn him about the house of misery and woe and that as soon as he steps foot in the house, he's in charge!
Really hope you all feel bit brighter tomorrow.

Ds1 is a PITA today. He feels all flat and lonely after his week away, but whatever suggestions I made today, he grunted at.

That nor'easterly wind (see how piratey I sound?) could strip the skin off your face, so I don't really have any bright ideas for tomorrow.

TooTicky · 31/01/2009 18:26

Not all 4 Wombling, only three...

Feather, you are gorgeous with a magic grin, now stop fishing, okay?

100x, I do like your ds1.

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:26

oh womble has gone, what a shame

womble I feel guilty that I once said there was nothing decent to eat here for miles so we were reduced to eating pot noodles

anyway I was not having much fun at the time ..it was a fit of pique

BBBee · 31/01/2009 18:27

my children seem to dissapprove of me quite a lot - not on major things - but they occasionally do catching each others eye and rolling at my parenting. They think we should be on one of those telly programme like 'how clean is your house' and I said it is not that bad and they both laughed and laughed.

it isn't that bad though - it really isn't - i am just not good at throwing away.

i made thai green curry with king prawns. now the vegetables - I tried and it was okay but it could have been better. I did mushrooms, onions, red pepper, green beans and beansprouts - was okay - if a bi

there was another vegetable question but it escapes me.

franny i looked at all the dairy free stuff in the supermarket and thought of you. If you don;t have meat it is a kind of bolster comfort dairy, isn't it. I love tartex.

are you having sugar?

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:27

molly did you see my link did you did you

BBBee · 31/01/2009 18:28

molly - i have ice skating up my sleeve for tomorrow and then hot chocolate in town.

the questions is "what vegetables do you put in thai green curry" merci.

mollyroger · 31/01/2009 18:30

oh I did, I did, but sadly I couldn't play it And I dare not add any new programmes at the mo.

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 18:30

I wasn't fishing....'onest. I like Nanny McPhee, she is groovy.

My DC's don't disapprove of me, they just openly mock my attempts at discipline and tell me my brain is soft ..but we do laugh a lot.

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 18:30

Hello! Will read in a minute but I've just found this old thread title while I was searching for something else and just thought I'd say it's one of my favourites ever!!

Deny thy burger and refuse thy bacon, and if thou wilt not, be but corn my lovage and I will no longer be a cabbage head.

TooTicky · 31/01/2009 18:32

Bee, I once had a friendly disagreement with somebody over whose house was the messiest, each thinking our own was, so she sent her children into ours to report - and they came out and assured her that ours was worse
She felt better.
Fel free to pop round and reassure yourself.
I couldn't invite Franny though, oh no.

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 18:32

She has a 'look' and I am trying to cultivate a 'look'.

TinySparklyWhiteFeather · 31/01/2009 18:33

Pink!!!!!

nonuniform · 31/01/2009 18:33

can I just dip in and say I eat alot of fruit and veg (hurrah)
and i bloody love this week's title.
amking me laugh everytime I read it.
Thanks- as you were

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:34

gah

finest thing on the radio 2007. Never mind, next time.

BBBee · 31/01/2009 18:34

oh pink - yes i remember that one. in my geeky moments i think we should write them all down - but that would be strange.

i am going to think of my favourite - we could be all retro

BBBee · 31/01/2009 18:35

oh toot - you see it is not dirty - it is just there is SO MUCH STUFF!!

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:37

You must throw things away. I like the phrases "chuck it" "hand it on" shred it" "burn it" and "large bonfire in the garden".

TooTicky · 31/01/2009 18:37

We have stuff and dirt.

mollyroger · 31/01/2009 18:38

When ds1 came home, he said: ''cor the house is quite tidy!''

Yes dear, because you weren't here...

BBeee my house needs 24 hours' notice before strange people come through the door. And even then it only looks vaguely tidy. We are all too fond of clutter inthis house

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2009 18:38

Lol at 'yes am not here' stuffit!

LR I think I would've gone into labour if I'd found her on the windowsill!

I love Juno. Real feelgood film but without the too-good-looking Americans and the cheeseiness. I listen to the soundtrack over and over and over too (Avi will probably think it's awful and post some meaningful critique later but I just like it )

stuffitllama · 31/01/2009 18:40

It is one of my strategies.. I've felt mentally cluttered most of my life so I have periodic clearances to help me get organised. Dh, who is very organised, is a hoarder, oddly, and I have to go through the study when he is away and throw away boxes full of airline tickets and travel brochures and god knows what.

mollyroger · 31/01/2009 18:42

help me persuade DH that Juno is not a 'chick flick'.
He just looks at me and says ''yes well, are there any aliens? Explosions? Robots? Orcs? Then it's a chick film...''
