For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Happy birthday, Tatties!

I found my run hard today but I think it might be because I am under the weather. My friend thinks she wants to stop as she's not losing weight and it's hard to go in the mornings sometimes but I think we should try it for a month at least.

Goood luck at the doctors today!

pinkspottywellies · 26/01/2009 09:14

Morning all! Happy birthday Tatties

TWF I saw your fb status and figured ur silly mood is doctor's hysteria!! Hope you and TooT are both feeling brave. I'll be there in spirit holding your hand

I'm sooooo tired and my wisdom tooth is hurting again

Hope your friend carries on running Guad. I was dying to ring you at the weekend and see if I could come and see your new house. But I hardly moved from my bed and I knew I needed to not plan anything but oh, how I wanted to see it!!

Boco good luck with the boy - let me know how it is!

Boco · 26/01/2009 09:15

Happy birthday Tatties!

Good luck at the doctors, everyone with appointments.

Meatloaf and chickpea was nice, we didn't bother with the bacon on top, because it seemed a bit meat overload otherwise.

I'm staring at all the tiny bits of playmobile everywhere and worrying about choking. Not me, this one year old. When I voiced concerns about nappies friend said 'look, I really can't guarantee he won't shit, can you still do this?'. [wimp]

I think I might have to take him out.

Guadalupe · 26/01/2009 09:18

Molly - I didn't read that in the paper but I have heard similar reviews citing poverty porn and so on, but I have also read fantastic reviews so I really wanted to see it.

I personally didn't think it was patronising and I didn't think it only painted India in a bad light. Nothing happened that I hadn't known happens in a poor country though it's still shocking to see. There were a couple of points where I felt I wanted to leave briefly.

It was very intense and edge of your seat stuff, I really liked the characters and it was visually amazing so I would recommend it. Not for the faint hearted though.

And Toot, fizzy cherries are those cherry shaped fizzy sweets that you only seem to get in cinemas like the flat strawberries. I expect you don't eat them as they are probably made of pig.

Guadalupe · 26/01/2009 09:19

You'll be fine, Boco, you can do poo I bet.

Pink - come and see it next time.

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 09:26

toot i am never amazed at the largeness of my boys' bits
yours may have erm special talents?

ds2 just had his first taste of mango
from the way he sucked the dear life out of it i would say it was quite popular

so his eczema looks like it is clearing up a bit? kind of
there are a few new bits, it just seems to be working its way down his body really
has reached bottom of back and top of legs
would it just have vanished if the problem was dairy? i know i have to keep it up for longer to see, i am just wondering

pointy i really got what you said about don't get too hung up on it
i have this lovely natural perfume i put on and this morning i thought "maybe it's THIS"
you could drive yourself crackers looking for cause
hope you got your turnip information
myself i hadn't a clue

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 09:27

oh poverty porn
i thought yesterday you said PROPERTY porn

pinkspottywellies · 26/01/2009 09:28

Boco I looked after a friend's boy a while ago and he pooed and it was fine. A bit eeeew but if I can do it anyone can!! I now take him to the potty with dd and everything!

Will do Guad. Might be a while before I leave the county again though!

Boco · 26/01/2009 09:30

Can I have a sticker for at least trying to answer turnip related questioning?

I can do the poo of my own children guad, but really dont' have to anymore anyway. And when I was last at friends house, he did such an overwhelming one that I gagged a bit. It lingered for about an hour and i got a bit hot and bothered thinking about what it would be like to have to deal with it up close. dd2 was appalled and delighted by it and pretended to die.

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 09:32

we are listening to the Fall
the cds dp has made for ds1 are really erm questionable
some are fab, eg ymca and abba and the jackson 5, but some he has gone completely berserk
there is one with dennis hopper reading this sinister story about people getting shot in the head
i mean wtf? i am pretty angry about that one, of course ds thinks it is marvellous and I am the one who has to take it away and say it isn't suitable
so far this morning we have had "I want to sleep with common people"
if dp can't see why that may not be the best song for a 5 year old on about a million levels, i don't really know how i am going to explain it to him
joy division by comparison quite benign

he has really been a fuckwit about it
i asked for some prince on there - thinking 1999 or something
he has chosen "i could never take the place of your man"
i await ds asking "what is a one night stand?"
and don't get me wrong, i don't mind ds knowing about sex but there is sex and sex, isn't there?

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 09:43

Tatties enjoying her birthday

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 09:44

the nation celebrates

Boco · 26/01/2009 09:44

LOL Franny that is quite a musical education that he's getting isn't it. Do you think your dp just getting carried away by his own love of those bands and not really thinking? Brilliant idea, to make the tapes though.

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 09:46

birthday feast

right must do things with children
boco boy poos are EASIER
there is not the same potential for them getting stuck everywhere
they may smell worse however
probably the beer and kebabs

FrannyandZooey · 26/01/2009 09:48

boco i think dp is getting carried away with how fucking clever he thinks he is
am really cross about it
but he did spend ages making the cds, plus hates criticism, so am not really getting anywhere speaking to him about it

the annoying thing for a luddite control freak like me is that i made him LISTS with TRACKS on, however, am too shite to actually download and burn the cds so had to leave him to it
and he did about half of my lovingly chosen tunes and then wandered off into ODD and DEVIANT territory
grrrr

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/01/2009 10:27

I think I will try the meatloaf thingy.

Boco, I meant to say a few days ago, do you live near a town that rhymes with a slang word for wee? I'm racking my brain for places in the north and I'm failing I come from the south of the county so my knowledge of anything north of our county town is limited

I think changing boys nappies is easier (especially shitty ones) too, but maybe because that's what I'm used to?

Franny, I'm sure your dp didn't give a thought to the content of the songs. And there lies the issue, he didn't think. But men just don't seem to do they?

Saying that, I still sing along to lyrics without really thinking what they are saying. I also remember singing 'Like a Virgin' at the top of my voice when I was little and having no idea what it meant, and not caring either.

littlerach · 26/01/2009 11:06

Oh Fran, you have made me laugh

My friend has had her baby - yeah!! It is her first and she was due ot be induced - not sure of she was or not - and she had her this morning.

Dd2 then said how pleased she was to have another baby cousin ???

They live in Suffolk so we don't see them as much as we'd like, but I htink this is another excuse to go and visit.

Have cleaned kitchen and thought baout hoovering.
Am making veg soup also.

banana
muslei

TinyWhiteFeather · 26/01/2009 11:11

Oh are you North Boco...how North? nosy
I am peak district.

Pink you might be right...am sort of floaty now....I am glad I don't do anything important or drive or anything, this county would be in ruins.

I am on yet (x3) more medication and have been urged to make gynee appointment ASAP which makes me feel completely reassured. Have gone into 'not thinking about it' mode.
Am going to do mad housework before customer arrives and go for a hard fast walk before I pick the children up.

I am a turnip dunce I am afraid but believe thay are good for target practice.

Right, breathing a little steadier now, will wobble to kitchen and ransack the biscuit tin make a cup of tea.

BBBee · 26/01/2009 12:32

Lullabyloo · 26/01/2009 13:29

hello my lovelies

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TATTIES!!!!!!!!!!! xxx

Toot & Feather (((((()))))))) thinking of you

My Grandmother has just had major heart surgery & is very fragile atm & I have been having major wobbles about the idea of losing her...I can not begin to envisage a world without her even tho it is of course enevitable one day...
Anyhow, the doorbell rang half an hour ago & I was greeted with a beautiful posy of highly scented spring flowers & a basket of beautiful bulbs in moss for ds..from Grandma.
She is just the most incredible soul I have ever met

I must tell you about my lovely present from her also,a membership to a fab health spa with salt water pool, moor mud jacuzzi, crystal turkish baths, hammam suite, bedroom where you can lounge on a vast tempur mattress with big squashy linen cushions & casmere throws & sip real ginger & lemon tea, organic cordials & have fresh fruit & read magazines......lovely treatments, fab changing rooms/showers with Ren & balance me products.....OOOOOh it is like a little oasis & I have been practically living there.
Doing 40 mins cardio,20 mins weights & 30 mins swim every morning...I ache like crazy.
I also have an American PT called Todd who is 23 6ft tall, lean & rather lovely..how I wish younger guys were appealing

So if anyone fancies a day trip...come & wallow with me

Ds is doing is first full day at school & it seems so odd & empty here & I am doing nothing at all productive

littlerach · 26/01/2009 13:35

Hello Lully, that sounds amazing.
I will come with you, quite happily!

I am almost bored actually, as have nothing to do. Sligth exaggeration, as there is lots I could do.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 26/01/2009 13:37

you must spend ages thinking up these thread titles

littlerach · 26/01/2009 13:43

Gosh, no, it comes naturally, doncha know?
It is from eating all those f&vn things

Lullabyloo · 26/01/2009 14:18

you would be very welcome lr

Does anyone have any ideas re ds & packed lunches?
His first week of lunches last week & he didn't manage to eat up his four fairy sized sandwiches & few crudites in an hour & so didn't have any playtime.... result, hysterical swollen faced child every time I collected him.
He is a painfully slow eater, very easily distracted, wont hurry for anyone...what could I give him that was nutritious, filling & easier/quicker to eat than sandwiches & salad?
They have made me remove the fruit/yoghurt/cake as he would be there all day.
