There's nothing swede about me - 10/10

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

mollyroger · 25/01/2009 17:42

Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 17:43

Tea you say? What kind, builders or a special slimming kind?

I can only drink so much green tea in a day tbh, it gets a bit dull.

BBBee · 25/01/2009 17:43

we are all smoking and drinking tea and not eating any food.

why is that wrong?

OP posts:
BBBee · 25/01/2009 17:44

(well I am drinking coffee instead - but I always have been a bit of a health nut like that.)

(it fits with your dairy and sugar free stuff too actually)

I eat food. {preens] I do both the other things too mind

Guad, actually, I just realised I haven't eaten lunch again today...IU had porridge for brekkie though.
When i am at work, I start salivating at 12 and have to eat at @ 12.30.
But when I am pottering round the house by myself I just don't.
But roast duck, yorkie, roast spuds, sweet potato mash, peas, carrots, braised cabbage and brocolli in around 15 mins will put that right.

FrannyandZooey · 25/01/2009 17:55

good threading chaps
it should really have been "swede about me - nothing swede about me" but i forgot that bit

FrannyandZooey · 25/01/2009 17:57

bee are you doing 10/10 properly? if you do it and don't go mad on the other stuff your weight should be what it is meant to be imo

toot - i reckon ovulation - you must ask
and do ask about your general health worries also
do you want to write it all down and hand it to the doctor? it's easier sometimes and then you don't forget stuff

Boco · 25/01/2009 17:58

Have had home made carrot and ginger soup for lunch, with dps homemade sour dough bread with spelt flour. (?)

carrots
celery
onions
err, ginger
an apple
orange juice
mango

Having jamie meatloaf in chickpea and tomato sauce for dinner.

Boco · 25/01/2009 18:01

Toot stress makes lots of weird things happen, but it also makes you worry about your health more, and generally about everything. [remembers inflicting a whole year of mysterious rash obsessions on veggers]

littlerach · 25/01/2009 18:08

TooT, whilst I ma not the best person to advise, my cycle seems to coincide with yours this month.
My period finished last weekend, and i have ovary pain today. Which is bloody spot on, as it would be half way thorugh. I started getting pains at ovulation about a year after dd2.
It si a horrid pain, really hurts.

I am rubbish at drs, it was only when I went at Xmas and sobbed that I actually told her anything. And she didn't seem to think I was a wierdo, just nodded and gave ne tissues and let me talk, which in itself was damned good.

So there

Anyway, um, food?
Various veg at lunch, sweet pots
carrots
broccoli
peas
pear
grapes

I bought so many carrots the last week, due ot forgetfulness, we have to eat them at every meal.

oj
carrots
cauliflower
peas
olives
grapes

Must try harder.

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 19:12

Thank you all for being lovely. I will stop boring you with the intricacies of how I am feeling

TinyWhiteFeather · 25/01/2009 19:12

, oh I have been worrying and worrying like something silly, but glad lemur, thank-you!!

Toot, lovey, I fully understand your stressing and agree with what everybody else has said, It is hard not to imagine the worst, but there is every possibility it is something else, especially sress related. But whatever it IS, the sooner it gets attention, the sooner it can be sorted and you deserve more than to be living with that kind of fear in the back of your mind.

Everyone will be behind you 110% of the way.

Keep breathing, focus on the moment when the initial appointment will be over and if you can, TALK to your doctor about how you feel. If they know you are scared, it is highly likely they will do all they can to reassure you in any way you can.

I'm also with Franny on the writing things down, if nothing else oit will be a prompt if you stall at all.

Big bejewelled hugs....

Ran this morning...(well 12.30! which is NEARLY morning). I think those moors are becoming like a 'church' to me. As soon as I am up there everything just melts away and the terrain is amazing for running. I could have just run around in circles for ages. The mud was about 6'' thick and I was grinning like a loon and slipping and sliding all over the place.

And then if you stand still and take in the views, well I don't think there is anywhere in the world I would rather have been for that moment. Just writing about it now and I can feel the serenity it gives me. ..contented sigh.

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 19:13

Lemur, I will text her and let her know but I think she only actually receives texts if she is sitting on the bathroom windowsill or something so she will prob ably read this first.

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 19:14

O Feather, there you are

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 19:15

of your moors

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 19:20

You are hide'n'seeking again

Dd2 says hide and sneak

TooTicky · 25/01/2009 19:21

I shall stop making faces and rescue the cake.

TinyWhiteFeather · 25/01/2009 19:27

Running around like a pillock with far too much to do!!

Day of rest.....pah, says who?

Guadalupe · 25/01/2009 19:29

Dh is getting on my tits.

I am going out. I might go to the cinema and watch Slumdog Millionaire and eat fizzy cherries.

FrannyandZooey · 25/01/2009 19:33

mollyroger · 25/01/2009 19:33

oh I wish I could come with you Guad, I really want to see that but the friend I usually go to cinema with has dismissed it as 'poverty porn'....
I had to bite my tongue not to say ''oh is that what the Guardian told you to think?'' as i read that comment in yesterday's.
I have finished packing ds's sweets suitcase ready for tomorrow.
