For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Ooh, you are all lovely

Guad, it was unsuitable. Linda McCartney pies, potato waffles, chocolate barrels with brandy stuff inside. Shit. And I feel it.

TooTicky · 07/01/2009 18:58

Yes Guad, our gate. Nice view innit

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 18:59

Oooo potato waffles. No you're talkin'

TooTicky · 07/01/2009 19:00

I wasn't awake all night, just from about 3ish.

SB, the hand/wrist things - I got the idea from Ravelry. They were very quick and easy. Dd1 wore them for halloween.

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:04

I love them. Is there a pattern or did you make them up?

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:04

And from 3am is much of the night Toot. Hope you sleep better tonight.

TooTicky · 07/01/2009 19:06

There was a pattern but I had to adapt a bit because my wool was thicker. Dd1 wanted purple. Search for "spider web" on ravelry and you should find it.

TinyWhiteFeather · 07/01/2009 19:09

Apple pie is orgasmic, and multiple orgasmic if you have it with cream, custard and ice-cream.

DD came for a run with me and nearly managed 3/4 mile. Bless. She is a little mini-me at the moment.

Going to put DD to bed, go for a run and then work.

Oh and DS is OK thank-you all very much, but obviously in some discomfort. Pity he didn't strain his jaw.

Tomatoes,
Apple,
Apple juice,
pear,
Dried fruit,
errrrrr yes,

very nice weather we are having for this time of year!

We had to run (1/2 mile) for the bus when we came away from the hospital and DS said the next time he sprains anything he will just keep quiet and go to school because I am a bad mummy....lol. He was laughing like crazy though.

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:11

Found it, TooT. Thanks. Yours are much better than the ones on Ravelry.

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:13

Oh TWF, I almost told my DS to stop talking today. he's been at it non stop since he woke up - he was rabbiting on while I was in the shower but I couldn't quite hear what he was telling me and he refused to come in to the bathroom so I could hear him. And it's been like that all morning. I'm afraid I was losing my patience and demanded NO TALKING at nap time

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 07/01/2009 19:14

pmsl @ pity he didn't strain his jaw!!! I hope he feels better soon. They do say that a serious sprain can be as painful as breaking a bone.

Ooooh, thanks for the stroke Toot. However I may have to start being called the skunk as the 10 f&v are playing havoc with my bowels. Lordy lord I am pooing and trumping (tmi?!) like a good'un

FrannyandZooey · 07/01/2009 19:16

evenin all
first things first
seeds are RIGHT OUT don't even think about it

toot lovely pictures
ds1 looking v like you

we have spent afternoon at soft play and it was marvellous
so civilised
ds1 had a fab time bossing everyone around and telling them what to do ( can't imagine where he gets it from)
ds2 had lovely time trying to charm all the mums
i got to sit down and drink tea and we even found something edible from the menu (having tried and failed many times before)
dp picked us up and brought us home for bedtime

not quite sure when my expectations dropped so far that the above = bliss, but don't knock it, it's working for me

sinkingfast · 07/01/2009 19:31

OK, so no to seeds

Well, so far I've had

2 bananas - can that count as two??
Apple
Juice
M&S Rainbow Superfoods salad (had LOADS of great things in it so must be at least 5, surely?)
err..that's it so far.

Hmm, I think I have work to do

FrannyandZooey · 07/01/2009 19:34

those superfood salads are niiiiice aren't they? i think you need to have a little read of the portions chart though (see OP)
2 bananas can count as 2 portions, yes

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:34

2 bananas counts as 2.

Superfood salad depends how many actually portions was in it. Salads are always disappointing imho because you eat tons and it only counts as a couple.

sinkingfast · 07/01/2009 19:35

Oh, also pulses only count as one portion, however much you have, yes?

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:35

Um, I'm having a poo problem of my own. This never happens. DS too. What do other veggers do? Do you stop eating F&V til things are, um, firmer? Or what?

sinkingfast · 07/01/2009 19:37

x-post

OK, so I'm up to about 5 so far.

So for tea, I've got a dhal with tomatoes & peppers (2), so if I follow it with a handful of blueberries and an orange, I'm nearly there - yay!

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:37

I think, since we try to eat 10, we can count 2 portions of pulses.

FrannyandZooey · 07/01/2009 19:37

you can count pulses as 2 in my rules, as we are eating 10 instead of 5 a day

bunny if you're unwell you should just have bananas rice apples and toast, apparently

SuperBunny · 07/01/2009 19:38

V good, sinking. Remember to count the lentils too
