For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

is Franny about? Am popping in to tell her of a v. funny conversation I had with ds2 which she will love.
ds2: What?s Beadales?
Me: why?
ds2: I want to know
Me: It?s a school
ds2: what?s it like?
Me: It?s sort of alternative, or non-conformist I suppose. Liberal, arty. No uniform, lots of gardening and chickens, I think you might chose your lessons, or that might be the other one.
ds2: sounds good. I want to go there.
Me: You?d have to get a scholarship then, it?s too expensive.
ds2: I can do that.
Me: Okay. You?d have to board, I wouldn?t like that.
ds2: Well I would.
Me: Hmmm. Why are you asking?
ds2: I was thinking about schools. There should be different kinds of schools, you know? I was asking my teacher about this, he said he thought I?d like Beadales.
Me: He did huh?
ds2: Yeah. I think there should be schools where you do what you want and like explore the world, not just be told stuff. Or even you could just do that at home but with learning and stuff not just playing on the computer or with toys. Do you think that?
Me: Nonsense, not at all. Straighten your tie dear and go and learn how to conjugate your Latin verbs.

Lovely 100x

Ds2 's double vision may or may not be caused by scarring or rogue stitches. His eye is also turning inwards and may or may not be helped with glasses.
But right now we have to wait 6 or 7 weeks and then they are going to remove his stitches and the back of his lens. So another GA.

Dd1 hates me. Why don't we have crisps in the cupboard like normal people? She is bored of bread.

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 16:02

Oh, well done LR

FairLadyRantALot · 14/01/2009 16:53

oh lol 100...priceless!

Well...as for me...I am a bit miffed...all minor things...but argh.... went to SW this mormning, and after all my f&v and being seriously good I only lost a fecking 1/2 Ibs...I mean, that is pathetic I have done better when I wasn't good, lol! And this afternoon my darling ys decided it would be a brilliant idea to draw all over the fecking carpets and the laminate flooring and the tiles (you can go round in one big circle downstairs...and that is just what he did, just with a pen on the floor...grrrrrrr....I actually smacked his hand and send him upstairs...and I know I know smacking norty, but it was just not somehting I needed!)
Hohum...as for fruit and veg...so far, 1 Banana, 1 Apple, Chickpeas and Mushrooms...

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 17:06

Oh dear, peaceful vibes to you FairLady.

Guadalupe · 14/01/2009 17:12

I got the Bedales brochure, just to see what it was like. The postman knocked on the door as it wouldn't fit through the letterbox due to it being in a box. You know the fees are going to be expensive when the book comes in a box. Looked amazing though, fabulous library.

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 18:02

Where is Feather? Somebody shout if she pops in please.

SuperBunny · 14/01/2009 18:19

congrats on NVQ, LR. What is it in?

Toot, poor DS2. Sorry about DD1. She sounds like a typical adolescent girl

Fairlady, I'd be furious.

I want to go to bedales.

I am worried about Feather.

Huge bean salad

FairLadyRantALot · 14/01/2009 18:22

hi again, and thanks toot

Well...add to previous F&v count:
Mushrooms, 2portions
red Pepper 1 1/2 portion
1 quite large red chilli (is that about 1/2 portion do you think?)
Tomatos 2 portions
Onion 1 portion

So about 11 all in all...not bad going

SuperBunny · 14/01/2009 18:31

Very good FL!

Lullabyloo · 14/01/2009 18:52

Are we having a meet then?

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 19:05

Hey Lully
Scroll down a bit, there's a link to Feather's website.

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 19:10

SB, I have been in touch with Feather by text today but I am hoping to catch her here this evening.

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 19:10

Congrats Guad!!!!!

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 19:15

here Lully

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/01/2009 19:15

Can you freeze whole chillies?

littlerach · 14/01/2009 19:17

Hi Lullabyloo, how are you?

SB, in childcare.

Add carrots
yellow peppers
tomatoes
grapes.

Makes 7.

TooT, dd1 is almost 8 and asks if she can take "normal" packed lunch, to include crisps and choc biscuit. Then in the next breath she is reciting the healthy foods that they are indoctrined about.

Lullabyloo · 14/01/2009 19:18

Oh my goodness how talented are you Feather?
I am utterly in love with that frog

Lullabyloo · 14/01/2009 19:21

hi lr

I had to sample a school dinner today with ds.....it was a struggle(for me,ds ate all his)
I think packed lunches will be the way to go even tho it's so cold & I'd like him to have something more substantial at lunchtime.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/01/2009 19:21

Oh, forgot to list:

banana
juice
grapes
carrot
cauliflower
onion
hummus
salad leaves

cucumber

I love the frog too.
