Pak choi to the world - the gourd is come! 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Of course Franny. Does she know she's famous?

SuperBunny · 14/01/2009 20:01

Veggie vibes to people who need them

FrannyandZooey · 14/01/2009 20:07

Nonsense. None of us want to go to Bedales [I can't go because I didn't spell it right ] because it's full of rich sloanes pretending to be alternative. Believe me, I know this. Anyway I thought he made a sensible and striking case for HE. The utter, utter traitor.

Hope eye okay TooT. Sorry haven't read all the thread, but FK wanted to know about clothing, and I LOVE that child who sings to their clothes. God, I love that child. Who was that?

Greenwich. Why is everyone going to Greenwich?

FrannyandZooey · 14/01/2009 20:14

oh yes, clothing and pictures to get them to do things
ds aged nearly 6 still can't focus for long enough to get clothes on, FK
he will be sitting there half naked playing with a car instead

the picture thing i used was for toilet stuff
it reminds them to do all parts of the job eg if they forget to flush
i am sure you could use for getting dressed, however, i do wonder if it actually stops them thinking for themselves what comes next
as ds still can't remember to flush fricking toilet!

Sorry, it's actually quite rude to turn up and not to have read all the thread. Makes me seem even more self-absorbed than normal, if that were possible.

well you are at least decorative

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 14/01/2009 20:16

Do you put them in order FK? Logically, like from the head down, rather than from the inside out. Head down, always worked for us, rather than from the inside to the outside, as it were?

Ordering important, but nothing makes them get dressed quickly, except practice and age. I think you might just need to take deep breaths and stare out the window and count to ten for a few years yet.

littlerach · 14/01/2009 20:17

100 I htink they ar emoving the yurt/hall there as it is a nice place to be.

Somehting about Culture and book shops and Things.
A change and all that.

ahundredtimes · 14/01/2009 20:18

Who you and me? [excited]

O-kaaay. I think we could make a spin of it. There will certain things we'll need to take slow and come to appreciate our different outlooks, but am confident overall it'd be a riotous success.

ahundredtimes · 14/01/2009 20:19

What you mean she's asking everyone?

FrannyandZooey · 14/01/2009 20:20

I have read the thread but will have to write a diatribe to respond to it all!
It is a bit like coming home and I nearly gave Franny a squeeze.

Thanks for the lovely comments about my site, it is pretty new and I am just looking at 'advertising' a little to get it some more attention. And someone is coming to view my portfolio next week like a proper person!

The docs.....handholding much appreciated.
And I am not much wiser. Have got to have loads of blood tests and an 'examination' {frowny emoticon}. He thinks it could be an untreated infection that is spreading through my body and has affected my glands, but in general doesn't like the look of me. So good for moral. We are going through a process of elimination.

Computer was down all day, so didn't mean to worry anyone, and I have been feeling very 'in' myself. Have done quite a bit of walking and am very busy with work also.

Sorry other people are stressed also, and your glowy lady Franny. A bit of a dubious start to the year, but I suppose it can just get better.

TinyWhiteFeather · 14/01/2009 20:51

I was going to hang around and see if anyone was here for a natter but DD is in need of my attention.

See y'all soon xx

FrayedKnot · 14/01/2009 21:00

Evening everyone

The clothes thing is DS is actually capable of getting dressed in about a minute (witnessed twice at the weekend when it was suggested if he wanted to go downstairs and find his cousin he should get dressed first - it was very cold).

The problem is he doesn;t want to be bothered with it. At the moment it usually ends up with one of us shouting because we have to leave the house at a certain time and mornings are generally a bit fraught.

I need to break the cycle somehow because it would be nice to actually start our walk to school in a jolly way instead of steam coming out of ears.

I expect if I sent him to Bedales he wouldn;t have to get dressed if he didn;t want to.

FairLadyRantALot · 14/01/2009 21:02

SB, I was....he usually is quite a "good" little boy and very eager to please. So, that meant I got all upset about upsetting him (once I calmed down...we did "make up" and then he nearly started to cry again, i.e. bottomlip wobbling, and when I asked why he was upset than, he said, because he knew he did wrong and was so sorry...bless...he than fell asleep before teatime...so...hoping he just needed the sleep and won't wake in the night hungry....)

hi lullaby

Franny??? glowy lady????

Tiny, you poor thing!

Oh, and I am now seriously FREAKING OUT!!!! Oh god, what if I fail the Placement?

TigerFeet · 14/01/2009 21:15

oooh Greenwich, I heart Greenwich very very much indeed

Sorry to hear of ds2's continued problems TooT FairLady, my dd wears patches for a lazy eye, it's called strabismus. She also has a squint in the same eye, some astigmatism and is incredibly longsighted in thast eye. She is therefore a speccy twat . She will need an op to straighten her wonky eye at some point this year [fret]

Well I took her to gymnastics today for the first time. Some of her friends already go so she was really excited. It's a good job they are fluffy and lentilly because she was clingy and cried and was scared of everything so I had to hold her hand for most of the class. She still wants to go back next week though. She seems so insecure atm, really clingy and weepy. She's loads better at school though so perhaps the angst is coming out elsewhere? God I hope that being with her and holding her hand when she needs me to is enough to improve her self confidence - coz I really don't know what to do.

Lully nice to see you.

TWF hope you get some answers soon.

TooTicky · 14/01/2009 22:30

Feather {{{{}}}}

FairLady - chill! You will be fine.

TF - let me klnow if you need eye op-related hand-holding. I will be so chilled by then

SuperBunny · 15/01/2009 00:13

TWF, sorry you have to have so many tests. I do hope it happens very soon and that it turns out to be something that is easily fixed. I am sure waiting will be very stressful but we are here if you need us and I am thinking of you lots.

FairLady, am sure placement will be roaring success. Don't panic!

TF, I think being there and holding hands is the only thing you can do. At some point, she will feel self-confident and will want to do things without you but she's still so little. I think it's perfectly reasonable of her to want you around.

FK, if you sent him to Bedales you wouldn't have to walk him to school either. He'd probably want to get dressed anyway so he could run across the fields and tend to the sheep before joining the Geography field trip to Namibia.

No clothes required chez Bunny tomorrow - it is going to be minus 30 so DS and I are going to stay home and have a pyjama day. FK, your DS should join us. We are going to make brownies out of beans. Very 10/10, I think.
