For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I love Greenwich too. We rented a flat there for a couple of years, well, dh did for work and we stayed a bit but not as much as I'd have liked. Mostly he stayed there during the week.

Actually, that was really shit, come to think of it. I can't really believe I surved two years of dh mostly being in London. Anyway, greenwich is lovely and the observatory and maritime museum and ship and stuff.

SuperBunny · 13/01/2009 21:55

I'll come to Greenwich. I like the park.

I have astigmatism. It makes my eyes hurt in bright light and I sometimes wear specs when they hurt but I don't need them all the time.

FairLadyRantALot · 13/01/2009 21:56

osmosis...yup that is how they explained it to me...!
And I see you are as good in procrastinating as me...although, very prooud, did some more on my learning package...and was able to post my bits on the Blackboard website...and I was the first who found it
someone else has now posted their summary, and whilst it looks good...bu the brief was 1 A4 page long...he got about 3 or 4, hohum...

SuperBunny · 13/01/2009 21:56

Avi, why does Greenwich need to be near richmond?

dooneygirl · 13/01/2009 21:56

It is HARD to keep up with YOU GUYS when you keep TALKING ALL day LONG. (Feels much better with the use of excessive capitals.)

Superbunny, do you even know what you are talking about when it comes to you and weight? When I was sitting outside the museum and let you and DS walk right by, I knew it was your DS, but from the way you talk about yourself, I was fully expecting someone at least 80 pounds heavier, so I got confused.

I've been on here coming up on 5 years, and I think I have all the Britishisms down, and then I come join this group, and you confuse me almost every day. Not that it is a hard thing to do.

Must go back to work. Am making a veggie shepherd's pie with sweet potato on top, and then Meyer lemon meringue pie for dinner tonight, so a good 3-4 portions there.

FrannyandZooey · 13/01/2009 21:57

sorted

we're off

We are going to London next weekend for a christening. We are going to see dh's godfather at St Pauls, then going to the London museum because I love the cheapside hoard and they have a good bit on the fire of London and dd has been doing it at school.

We might go to an exhibition but probably won't have time. The christening at 4pm at Westminster Abbey . I don't know what to wear. My friend says it's not smart, just tidy. She's only wearing her Hobbs suit.

FrannyandZooey · 13/01/2009 22:00

we were at st pauls this afternoon

westminster abbey woohoo!

Were you? Have you been to London museum? It's just down the road, the jewellery collection is AMAZING.

I am a bit nervous of the christening tbh. It won't be for long though then drinks after at some hospital.

OsmosisBanana · 13/01/2009 22:07

Well done Ranty! I am STILL waiting for my biggest (and most valuable to me) essay back... grrr.

Meanwhile I am wasting my time cleaning things that don't really need cleaning. Like DD.

Guadalupe · 13/01/2009 22:08

Ds2 always need cleaning. He is a dirt magnet.

FrannyandZooey · 13/01/2009 22:10

errr we were at yo sushi

it was great
they had 40% off
we sat and sushied for hours
ds1 kept grabbing everything and we were having to lob them all back
the staff were so nice! and the little water taps and your own pot of ginger and everything

Oh Dooney thanks. i am rather more round than I was in the summer but I will agree that I am not enormous. I just feel it. I weighed 30lb less, 18 months ago.

What is special about meyer lemons? If I buy one, what woudl I do with it? Are they just for baking?

I made carrot and lentil soup for supper.

of all this talk of London.

Toot, come back.

dooneygirl · 13/01/2009 22:26

Yes, Franny. Speccy twat. And I have it going 'round and 'round all sing-songy like in my head.

They aren't as sour as regular lemons. I think they're some sort of orange/lemon hybrid, leaning closer to lemon. I got lucky am going to burn in hell because of them according to DH. They're about $6 a pound here, and we went to one poncey food shop for DH, and I got almost 2 pounds. After we were in the car, I checked the receipt, and only got charged $1.59, so they obviously rang me up as plain lemons.

Then we went to a poncey supermarket, and DH had decided he wanted a pie, so I bought some more because I was planning to make preserved lemons with them. So I got some more there, and when I was unloading the stuff at home, I noticed I got charged 80 cents for the 2 I bought. Even though one of them had 4 stickers on it saying it was a Meyer lemon. I put it up to I wasn't trying to be deceptive, so it isn't my problem.

Preserved lemons are really good in Middle-Eastern dishes. I made some this morning.

FrannyandZooey · 13/01/2009 22:29

speccy twat

OP posts:
dooneygirl · 13/01/2009 22:35

That isn't nearly as rude as I thought it was going to be.

SuperBunny · 13/01/2009 22:40

lol @ the speccy twat I was a bit nervous about clicking on that link since DS is lurking

Preserving lemons is interesting but I don't know what I;d use them for

Why do children not come with volume knobs? Mine is so loud!

dooneygirl · 13/01/2009 22:42

Mine are scaring me, because they've been sleeping for so long. DS is getting all croupy again. I'm already tense and dreading tonight.

FrayedKnot · 13/01/2009 22:43

Ooh great are we having ameet up?

If I climb the hill behind us I could probably SEE Greenwich if the wind was in the right direction - and I had nightvision and the Hubble telescope

How can I get DS to get dressed / undressed by himself without it taking five hours (4 3/4 hours to ignore me, 10 mins to dither, 3 mins to dither a bit more and 2 mins to actually blooming well get on with it).

Ideas that do not include bribery, threats or stickers much appreciated.
