For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

grapefruit
pear
grapes
cucumber
tomatoes
dried fruit
sweetcorn
peppers
OJ

Guad - my new Maclaren arrived today and it's tres lush , don't mean to rub it in though

Our HV is as much use as a chocolate teapot and gives really outdated and shit advice. She came at 4 and 10 weeks and I think that's it unless we ask to see someone. Bloody good job I say.

littlerach · 09/01/2009 19:11

Peace to you Feather.

SB, glad you are ok. I have funny/odd spells when I am not quite right. I have to make myself snap out of it.

Um
broccoli
carrots
peas
kiwi

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2009 19:15

oh i got ticked off at hv for ds2 having cold feet though
theme for this week obviously - me failing to clothe my children adequately
he was wearing sheepskin boots ffs! [ponce]
what should i do, rub him with deep heat or something?

i am glossing over f+v
i had 12 yesterday i am allowed
and i had lunch with a young man (Gnorman conquest man if anyone remembers him)

TooTicky · 09/01/2009 19:16

I am sorry Feather

pinkspottywellies · 09/01/2009 19:38

Glad you're feeling better SB and glad clinic went well Franny. Guad hope you get a decent response to your complaint. There's really no excuse for that kind of error and it is upsetting when something like that comes and reminds you out of the blue (not that you forget!).

Not bad today...

raisins
oj (which I then realised was a bad idea cause I'm feeling a bit UTI-ey so i've drank gallons of water for the rest of the day! Of course it could just be the large baby sitting on my bladder that's causing the problem )
apple
tomato soup
cucumber
qualitystreet (there was a tin at pils with all the orange creams and toffee pennies in, obviously noone else likes them )
satsumas
grapes when passing the fruitbowl - must've had a portion!
onion, toms, peppers in spag bol

About 8 again. And cleaning for my exercise and I really feel I can genuinely claim that given that walking up the stairs gets me out of breath let alone hoovering!!

Right I have made lemon drizzle cake for my friend's xmas present (I gave her vouchers for lasagne and cakes!) so I'm going to drop it off then go to bed when I get home. If you see me on here later shoot me please!

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 20:12

Ooo, I'm about to make LDC. And shortbread.

Went sledding but snow too powdery to go very far. Good for making snow angels though

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2009 20:22

when I had SPD and couldn't open my legs wide, ds1 said "oh NO mummy you won't be able to do star jumps. Or make snow angels "

OP posts:
FairLadyRantALot · 09/01/2009 20:27

snowangels....wish we had that kind of and that much of snow...sigh....

Franny, I think really cold hands and feet are pretty normal in Babies..or so I was told, because my 3 all always had cold feeling feet and hands. I was told it's to do with their circulation.

Guadalupe · 09/01/2009 20:32

My brother is ringing me from a phonebox screaming that my mum won't let him in to get his certificates he needs for his Prince of Wales apprentice grant, because they rowed and she called the police and he wasn't allowed to pick them up in his hancuffs. I ring her and she screams that she's sick of him kicking off and smashing the place and she's gone out for the night and she doesn't care if he gets his certificate.

I say they are as bad as each other and she puts the phone down and texts a minute ago to say it's sorted out now, no thanks to me with my perfect life and judgemental attitude and everyone else is nice to her, blah blah blah.

It's like a bloody episode of Shamless. I'm going to get a drink.

FairLadyRantALot · 09/01/2009 20:36

Guad you deserve a BIG drink....Families, eh!

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2009 20:44

oh that perfect life crap is so lame isn't it
it's like "i can't think of a proper reason to insult you, so...."

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 09/01/2009 20:45

exactly

I have, however, made myself a perfect G&T.

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2009 20:47

dp has bought himself a fancy heart rate monitor
he is wearing it and shuffling up and down, holding ds2 who i asked him to have for a bit
he seems immune to the comedy facets of this

OP posts:
FairLadyRantALot · 09/01/2009 20:49

lol Franny

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 21:00

Oh GUad. I suppose there are advantages to being 4000 miles away from one's family

Enjoy your drink.

stuffitllama · 09/01/2009 21:23

FairLadyRantALot · 09/01/2009 21:38

what part of the worlld are you in llama?

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 21:48

Crikey stuffit, hope you get to bed soon

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 23:35

Where've you all gone?

dooneygirl · 10/01/2009 02:55

Had a long, exhausting day. I'm pretty sure I got near 10 if not 10, but am just too mentally drained to sit here and figure it out. I didn't do any exercise, though.

I was going to say and ask several things of several people, but will wait until I'm in a better frame of mind, because I just can't concentrate.

Good thoughts to you all.

SuperBunny · 10/01/2009 03:19

Hope you are ok Dooney

stuffitllama · 10/01/2009 04:00
