For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

SuperBUnny, I started with some sort of allergy when I did my Nursing training....but when they did tests they could not find anything...I only seem to be getting it when working in Hospital environments and stressed...my dh always says to me that I must be allergic to work.......my symptoms mostly were skin flare ups, but had a couple of Asthma type attacks...which were terrifying....! It will be interesting to see if I will develope a flare up when I am on placement, as my placement is in Handtherapy and within a Hospital...!
It is a nightmare when you don't know what exactly you react too...isn't it...!
As for being nice to once Kids...well...sometimes they make that pretty difficult to impossible, though....sigh!

littlerach...glad the moorish chickpeas went down well...and spinach etc... seems to be a [erfect add on...I could imagine that new potatoes miggt work really nice, too!

Franny, your poor lil one...thrush is bleurgh...
Oh and our little "hoohaa" () reminded me that, if it hadn't been for our original hoohaa, I would have never joint the thread in the first place ....

Guad, that is terrible and tactless and well, tbh, I am speechless!

Well...last night I was able to add Carrots and Cauliflower to my daily count...think portionwise I was again up to 7-8....so, for me that is brilliant! Btw...do Potatoes count? I don't think they do...but hopeful anyway
Today, so far, a couple of small slices of watermelon and a punnet of green grapes....!

Should be doing other stuff....but am procrastinating as usual

avi...they scrapped the pre-school HV appointments in this area...and are behind with teh vaccinations...tbh, my boys all are baccinated, however, Flynn has not had his MMR booster yet, because, seemingly they still haven't caught up ...he has started school in September...now...personally I think that is quite crap...I mean, there they are wanting people to vaccinate, and than it is them that delay things [grr]

TinyWhiteFeather · 09/01/2009 12:33

Have just taken recycling out..(they always drive straight passed mine, or can't park or something!).

And it is COLD. Got to go to town but would rather not. If I put anymore layers on I won't be able to move the upper part of my body Might wind up spending the afternoon in my favourite cafe bar, drinking Lattes, Mmmmm

Our childcare system around here is second to none and we are very very lucky. It must be frustrating if you don't get that.

Are you a Nurse Fairy? My ds is in love with a nurse . Must be very stressful to be allergic to something at work, especially in your job.

stuffitllama · 09/01/2009 13:14

will call you michelinsizewhitefeather

cake has been consumed
moist, rich and very very chocolatey

and six carrots from the garden
I am not very good at "eating a rainbow"

TooTicky · 09/01/2009 14:22

No vaccinations here.

Hugs to everybody.

TooTicky · 09/01/2009 14:24

I would have taken the book through sheer non-confrontationalism. Is thata word? On a different day I might have stuck out my tongue and waved my bottom.

littlerach · 09/01/2009 15:07

Seperate vaccinations here.

It is still -1 here and was -5 on way to school.

The pavements were so slippery.

How are you SB?

Raisins
grapes
pear
peanut butter

Cake sounds good, stuffit.

TinyWhiteFeather · 09/01/2009 15:08

My aunt is losing her fight against cancer, They have taken her off all meds except morphine. .

Oh TWF

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/01/2009 16:32

So sorry to hear that TWF. I wish your Aunt a safe journey.

Take care.

FairLadyRantALot · 09/01/2009 17:08

Tiny, so sorry to hear about your aunt.
Oh, and I used to be a nurse...but not have worked as such for many many years, have worked within Health and Social care all my adult life, though....
well, and now I am doing/or attempting to do a degree in Occupational Therapy....to me it seems to be the perfect job!

Well, my f&v count so far:
well, those melon slices and the punnet of grapes from this morning, than grilled tomaotes, a Banana, Cucumber and mushrooms/Tomatoes/peppers

I would say so far ca. 8 portions ago....and there will possibly be more

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 17:19

Thank you for good vibes. All ok today - not sure what last night was about but I was a bit worried. Am just having a weird time atm.

Franny, did you go to the clinic?

Sorry for insensitive letters, Guad. Very inconsiderate. You'd think they could remove you from the list.

And Sorry to TWF & her aunt, too
Eating Vaseline? Really?

FairLadyRantALot · 09/01/2009 18:04

add an apple to my f&v count...can you tell I am determined to get to 10 today

SB glad you are o.k. today....

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 18:10

Thanks

Banana
raisins
dried cherries
bit of juice

Guadalupe · 09/01/2009 18:30

SB - I am on the list, I just have a different type of smear to check it hasn't spread to vaginal walls, although it is the usual type that is prone to this, so at least there is one good thing about getting the rare one.

Mou - sorry to hear about your aunt. Hope things are peaceful for her.

I made butterbean and chorizo stew with loads of veg and then dh offered to get fish and chips. Will put in the fridge for tomorrow though.

Right, it is 6.30, off to complain that my new Maclaren hasn't arrived AGAIN. I seem to spend my life complaining atm. I am going to end up one of those grumpy old women.

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2009 18:44

sorry for your aunt, mou. hope she has a 'good' ending (hope that makes sense)

guad the things you have had happen! i would take it further if you can be bothered, hopefully will save someone else having the same

thanks for kindness about clinic and not just telling me to stop blathering
it was fine! i took the red book because i thought they wouldn't prescribe anything otherwise
they were a bit clueless - kept looking at his bot and saying "oooh i've seen MUCH worse than that, have you tried airing it?" with me going "do you think it's thrush?" but in end wrote prescription
did not insist on weighing him
did not mention vax
did not mention weaning - or sleep - or anything at all! was i unlucky with ds1's hvs or lucky with these ones?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2009 18:45

and vaseline is NOT one of your 10

nor are nuts

OP posts:
sinkingfast · 09/01/2009 18:48

OK have had

Blueberries
Banana
Grapes
Juice

and will have

carrots
peas
orange
mango

so not too bad. According to the box of blueberries, 1 portion is 100g which is an enormous amount!

Do oats count as one?

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 18:49

Do nuts count?

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 18:49

No, oats don't. But they are good for you anyway

sinkingfast · 09/01/2009 18:50

True. lol at nuts - I'm guessing that this is a recurring question?!

SuperBunny · 09/01/2009 18:50

Am glad clinic went well, Franny.

I have to take DS sledding but it is cold and wet and yucky out there. It will count as exercise won't it?

FrannyandZooey · 09/01/2009 18:55

no oats
no nuts
no anything ending in 'ts'
