Diet starts tomorrow honestly.....any one want to join me?

Since this year started I have been dieting really half-heartedly. I desperately want to lose the stone that I put on while I was down with my PND. No more excuses I am definately going to start tomorrow. I am sure I could lose the weight easily if I just cut out the things that I pick on between meals. I will have a proper breakfast rather than a handful of biscuits and will not pick on leftovers from DS dinner/lunch. Anyone else fed up of not trying hard enough on their diets and care to join me.

I too am trying to lose weight with barely any success ! I don't need to lose a lot , about 8 pounds I suppose but being a shortie ( only 5 foot 2 ) it shows a lot. I have cut down but it doesnt seem to make any difference. Since I had dd I gave up work and I think being less active is the real culprit.I also had some PND after she was born and sometimes I wonder if I still have it but that's another story ...I was very overwight as a teenager then lost it all on a big diet at the age of 17.Since then it's been fluctuating and I go through phases of being 'good'and not so good. It's the bane of my life in many ways!!

breeze · 23/03/2003 13:50

Welcome then donnie, I am 5 ft 4 in and only put weight on my belly, so if I put on a few pounds I look like I am expecting.
Sorry to hear about your possibly PND, having had/recovering from it myself I know that it is truely awful at times, be happy to help in that way if needed. Take Care

breeze i'll join you. every day is d-day,but something gets eaten that shouldnt, only need to lose about 8lb but it aint moving!! walking most days with my dd of 5mths, but i'll just have to walk faster!

donnie · 23/03/2003 13:58

I wish I only put it on my belly breeze ! my problem areas are hips and top of legs, wobbly and flabby, yuk ! anyway I should be grateful as my dear hubby says he thinks I look fine and loves me the way I am.It's so easy to get obsessed though. Yet people are being killed in war today - are we getting things out of proportion ??? anyway, bye for now !

breeze · 23/03/2003 14:03

Donnie, I agree with the war that it is sad, but things can not stop for it, Life must go on. I is truely horrible but thats life.

Can I join in too? - I've been meaning to start for about 6 months but work etc always gets in the way - I'm good a stone heavier than pre ds and about 2 stone more than I'd like (but I'd settle for the 1 stone). My food intake isn't too bad (except when dp buys in treats) but I don't get nearly enough exercise.
Next week I'll push ds to the nursery rather than drive (he only goes 3 mornings) and I will go swimming despite looking less than glamourous in my swim suit.

breeze · 23/03/2003 15:15

The more the merrier. Good luck Janeway and Hermykne.

I must do some sort of exercise too, walking's okay so I walk to shift those pounds.

snowbird · 23/03/2003 17:48

Can I join in? I need to lose a stone. I need to make a big effort on the exercise front, I do go for a walk every day but think I need to do something else, (not eat as much?) My problem areas are my tummy, hips, thighs and bum, I look like a walking pear!!

Chinchilla · 23/03/2003 18:27

I will join too if you don't mind Breeze. I need to get rid of two stone, and want to be back at 8st 7lbs. If I know that I have to check in at least once a week, it might keep me on the straight and narrow

breeze · 23/03/2003 18:54

Chinchilla, That is what I had in mind, the weekly weigh-in here might give me that little bit extra that makes me stick to it.
good luck all.

8st 7lb!! If only. I'm 5'4" and want to lose about 5 stone. Come on where are the people with big weight losses to conquer.

I've been galvanised into action by a friend who's had bariatric surgery- he was around 35 stone.

I think he's made be open my eyes and see what might be ahead of me if I don't lose weight.

I started to put things in order about 2 weeks ago but my scales were so erratic I'm not sure of my starting point but will aim to nip to Boots to get weighed at lunchtime.

Good luck all!

Antonia3 · 23/03/2003 19:51

Can I join too? I was planning to turn over a new leaf tomorrow...have recently been pigging out in evenings a lot. Want to look nice in bikini this summer... A weekly weigh-in sounds a good idea to me.

hermykne · 23/03/2003 20:32

maybe if we give ourselves target dates too. like next sunday mothering sunday - a treat, not necessarily food, and then easter and then maybe mayday, to try and boost us along .or if anyone has a special occasion or birthday coming up. and what about a few tips for excercising while cleaning, working at the desk, five minutes spent doing wall press ups instead of drinking tea
and its not starvation just healthy eating and exercise. i've given up bread, love my toast in the morning but it had to stop, bread bloats you out and makes you hungrier by lunch if not elevens!

snowbird · 23/03/2003 20:46

Thats my downfall, love bread and pasta. I have been keeping a food diary for a couple of weeks now but its easy to 'forget' that creme egg A weekly weigh-in sounds good to me too. When shall we have the first one? Next Sunday night?

Zoe · 23/03/2003 20:51

I'd like to join in too if that's ok - I need to lose a lot of weight and have been doing it by exercise and careful eating - until the last few weeks. I don't weigh myself I go by clothes but once I'm back on track I might brave the gym scales... I know what I weighed on my last day at work before Xmas so, I can start with that as a beginning point

breeze · 23/03/2003 21:05

Welcome all and good luck.

bossykate · 23/03/2003 21:57

chinchilla, how tall are you?

breeze · 24/03/2003 07:47

Weighed myself first thing this morning and I am 12st 1. First target obviously is to get down under 12 stone. Already stopped myself from going to the biscuit tin.

PandaBear · 24/03/2003 08:45

Morning. Can I join too? I've been dieting since I stopped breastfeeding DD and have lost 4.5 stone. But now it's getting harder and I'm losing enthusiasm. I want to lose another stone and a bit. I weigh 12 stone 3 (I'm 6ft) and want to be 11 stone. Good luck everyone!!

snowbird · 24/03/2003 08:51

Pandabear-did you find you ate more when you were bfing? I'm bfing and can't fill myself. I'm sure I didn't eat this much before I had ds. I'm hoping when I stop my appetite returns to normal.

Breeze-well done with the biscuits.

mum2toby · 24/03/2003 09:10

Dunno what I weigh, but it must be about 11 and a half stone. I would LOVE to lose at the very least.. a stone. I am a size 15 at the moment and can't get anything to fit me!!! Hmph!!

Count me in.

PandaBear · 24/03/2003 09:29

Snowbird - yep!! I ate loads more when I was bfeeding. Don't worry about it too much - you are still supplying extra nutrition for your baby, so you are bound to need more food for yourself!! Take care and enjoy it!!

Angiel · 24/03/2003 10:03

Can I join as well. I actually started a diet last monday and I've lost 4lbs!! Hooray!! I wasn't very good this weekend though so I need to get back on track this week.

If you're like me and love sweet things, the pink and white wafers are really low in calories (1/2 ww point) and can stop a sweet craving for a while.

I'm off for a long walk in a minute to deliver my Avon with my dd in the pushchair and ds on the buggy board so that should burn off a few calories.

Demon · 24/03/2003 10:05

Please can I join as well? Must be at least 8lbs overweight. General wobble on arms, thighs and bottom and a flabby belly. Just need to loose those extra pounds and more importantly tone up those muscles. Have started drinking less alcohol and doing aerobics, but only once a week at the moment. Approximately 5'2" and will have to blow the dust off the scales and will report back later. I don't expect to see a drastic loss in lbs per week though. What day is weigh in day?

mum2toby · 24/03/2003 10:12

I suggest Friday as weigh in day. That gives you time to lose all the pounds you put on over the weekend!!!!!

Any objections?
