For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

How about thread title:
Autumn is a symphony of permanence and change, parsnips and chard?

The first bit is a quote I googled, can't remember who - best Autumn quote!

See, FMV, I am trying to help!

OsmosisBOOnana · 04/11/2008 10:18

I hate buses. Especially buses that contain me, DD and an extremely smelly, ready to leak nappy.

I want my car back. NOW!!!!

I am not leaving the library till I have finished, or very nearly finished one essay.

See ya fruity bitches.

TF (and assorted other DC mavens) am about to embark on a DC guzzling marathon of epic proportions. I may be wandering around the yurt gibbering like Beavis when he takes that ol lady's pills later.

'I am cornholio, i need TP for my bumhole'

type thing

daisy99divine · 04/11/2008 10:26

LOL Osba
now settle down to that essay

3,000 words later you'll be ready for some gibbering

TigerFeet · 04/11/2008 12:39

Oh god OsBa I have just spat DietEvil all over my pooter screen I too now need TP for my bumhole

I need to get veggering properly again. Tomorrow I am off work so will go to Aldi local organic greengrocer and stock up. DH is away for a couple of days which makes vegger freindly eating much easier. DH is not comfortable with a plate that contains pulses but no meat whereas dd and I care not a jot.

Less Diet Evil. More veg. Easy peasy, non?

I have had three cans today

DH and his laptop is away until THursday, I am off work tomorrow, how the hell am I going to manage? [sob]

filthymindedvixen · 04/11/2008 13:09

my lovely boss has just shared her lunch with me - so I have had a huge bowl of casserole with turnip, parnsip, peas, chickpeas, carrot, beans, cauliflour cerlery and sweet potato in!

And a pomegranite. I likes pomegranites...

that's surely a 10!

daisy99divine · 04/11/2008 13:13

~What a lovely boss!

hope you are feeling more cheery FMV and full of lovely vegs!

TooTicky · 04/11/2008 13:18

Ds1 seems to be bearing up. Not sure which is more effective, the ABs or the tooth coating. He has pre-op assessment on the 18th (the day before ds2's cataract op) and major extractions on 2nd Dec.

Mou, yes, molars do come out. My dcs seem fairly slow to lose their baby teeth. Ds2 (7) hasn't even had a wobble.

Fmv, good food made by somebody else is a wonderful thing! Or so I imagine

What is this diet coke obsession? It's all a bit worrying.

TooTicky · 04/11/2008 13:19

TF, we willl be thinking of you!!

mou · 04/11/2008 13:19

Just a quickie,

Still awake Daisy and alarmingly perky!

Lol at most of posts today.

Ran home from work and my poor body is so ready to throw in the towel, (I suffer from a condition called fibromyalgia, bit like chronic fatigue syndrome thingy,), but have a hyperactive brain/personality.

You will be missed TF, I will drink extra coke eat extra veg in your abscence.

Pear, banana, tomatoes, juice so far.

Must dash, work to do.

TooTicky · 04/11/2008 13:22

Mou, do you ever rest?

TigerFeet · 04/11/2008 13:27

TooT, a thousand apologies, we newbies have taken over your lovely vegetable thread with talk of Diet Coke . In all seriousness, I need to get rid of it from my life. I feel grumpy if I haven't had any - that is not good is it? DH is even worse. It's his fault that I got drinking it in the first place. I brought fun and sunshine to his life, he brought diet coke to mine . I was thinking of starting a support thread - please don't laugh - I know loads of people who drink too much of it, it's unhealthy and it costs a fortune. My one or two bottles of plonk a week are cheaper and are probably doing me less harm

Lovely Mou, I have read your thread and it's inspirational. I've never been able to do it, too many ishoos. Well done and 'nuff respect to you

TooTicky · 04/11/2008 13:36

TF, don't apologise! I'm just concerned for you.
And you're not a newbie, are you?

Oh, and what and where is Mou's thread?

mou · 04/11/2008 13:37

Toot, I don't know why my children are hyper, whistles nonchalantly..

TF, cut down Coke gradually if you think you might be addicted. To be honest I don't really drink it, it is just my code for my crush. I drink a lovely elderflower cordial...could you find something like that instead? and have a high energy snack bar to give you the energy rush.( i have a lovely image of you in my mind of you wearing those novelty slippers - tigery ones! ). Thanks for reading my thread.

SuperBunny · 04/11/2008 13:55

sweet potato wedges:

chop into wedges
stick in bowl
drizzle with oilve oil
thyme
pepper, sAlt
mix
put on baking sheet in single layer

bake for 20-30 mins, turning a couple of times

TooTicky · 04/11/2008 14:00

Yum. I want sweet potato wedges. Now!

BBBee · 04/11/2008 14:08

hello

i am kind of restored to health and i hope you are all well. I HAD SOME NIGHT NURSE LAST NIGHT - eye carumba!

anyone had news of franny - i wonder about her - i am going to snail mail her i think.

SuperBunny · 04/11/2008 14:14

Glad you are feeling a bit better, bee.

I don't much like SPs but I do like those wedges. The other way they are done here is:

Chop up, bake with cinnamon and brown sugar spinkled on the top. Then, either leave as chunks or mash. Cover with mini marshmallows and bake tile they go brown and gooey. I don't like this way but everyone else does.

daisy99divine · 04/11/2008 14:19

Hello
I love sweet pototo, but tend to mash or roast
Mou, where's the link to your thread

I don't really like Diet Coke or have crushes either

(can I stay or does that make me too boring )

Glad feetling bettern BBB and also kisses to poor DS teeth Toot

Lol at tiger slipper things, just what I thought Mou

SuperBunny · 04/11/2008 14:21

No, stay Daisy! I don't drink fizzy stuff at all. I do sometimes have crushes though. And am back to drinking far more tea and coffee than I should. But I ignore that and try to stuff myself with F&V so all is ok...

SuperBunny · 04/11/2008 18:48

Where are you all today? I know MamaG has gone to have her baby but where's everyone else?

Black bean Chili with cornbread (tomatoes, onions, black beans, peppers) and peas and corn (4, I'd say)
Juice
Banana
Berries
Raisins

Eight and it's only lunchtime, yay!

And I walked/ trotted alongside DS on his bike for a couple of miles.

It's hot here - about 20 degrees today. Very odd.

SuperBunny · 04/11/2008 18:50
FrayedKnot · 04/11/2008 18:50

Hello

I hate diet anything, if I drink coke it is full fat (although it would be a very rare occurance...I sometimes have lemonade).

I have terrible crushes, which I try to ignore.

Glad DS1 is bearing up TooT. I have two colleagues who've had tooth abcesses in the last few weeks and they have suffred dreadfully. 'Tis a horrid, horrid thing.

Are you able to boost DS1's immune system at all?

I swear rather by that sambucol stuff but not sure how much it is.

I am off to yoga shortly.

SuperBunny · 04/11/2008 18:55

Enjoy yoga, FK. I miss it. Haven't been for over a year

filthymindedvixen · 04/11/2008 19:15

STOP IT!
Stop drinking fizzy stuff! Or I will tie you up in a corner of the yurt, naked and let the good veggers pelt you with bracon frazzles.

filthymindedvixen · 04/11/2008 19:15
