For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Boco - bloody receptionists, I knew the doctor would think it was bad. I am not quick to take ABs, remember all those mastitis episodes where I did without but tonsillitis is a hard one to shift. The pus just pours down your throat and actually people did used to get that secondary thing from it, can't remember what it's called but you get jerky and bad. Strep in the throat. Not good. Respect to Toot and garlging though!

lionheart · 30/10/2008 11:28

Heyho, Franny and Ghoul.

I got sucked into one of those Santa threads, as I do every year. It's becoming a tradition.

Ghouladalupe · 30/10/2008 11:29

Lol yes, that's where I saw you. In fact, I narrowed my eyes at a couple of others too thinking they may have been namechangers from Avi island but no-one exactly fitted.

daisy99malign · 30/10/2008 12:20

Poor Boco - thinking of you with pus down throat and hope that ABs work well - I agree - while they can be overused, when really needed they are indeed WONDERFUL

Guad, poor you and poor poxy child - how about a warm bath?

Sending fruity parcels to all in need

Hello Lionheart

And meant to say "go" not "do" to Bero (durbrain!)

Ghouladalupe · 30/10/2008 12:35

Yes, he is in the bath right now with bicarb and oats. Ds1 asked if it would turn to porridge. I suppose it might if it was hot enough.

daisy99malign · 30/10/2008 13:21

Oh Guad, poor DS1, I hope he isn't too porridgey, I guess a little cream and sugar too?

MamaG · 30/10/2008 13:27

Bero - so sorry you feel like taht, maybe you'll decide to just come on the F&V thread and nothing else

Guad - you can get calamine cream rather than lotion which stays on.

Otherwise mix calamine lotion with something like E45

Really, both will be better than the shite lotion

Boco, glad you go to Docs. Can anybody else go to shop for you? Think you need to stay inside, in teh warm TBH

FrannyandZooey · 30/10/2008 14:30

nice veggers, I think visiting rather than staying is good for me atm
thank you for letting me swan in and out
see you in a week or so
xx

littlerach · 30/10/2008 14:58

But Fran, that means you have a life

Actually, I have been here about 5 years now, and it is so big that it is hard to keep up.
I lurk more now.
But I like the yurt. It's nice.

Bero, I hope you pop in every now and then, I like ot hear about Germany.

TooTciky, EH member? Are there many EH places near here?

Pizza Express for lunch. Nice.
Artichokes
Asparagus
Pepper
Mushroom
Tomatoes

FrightKnot · 30/10/2008 16:59

Hello

Franny you have never got my back up and I don;t think you are likely to start now

Was just pondering re grass is greener type thoughts....several times since DS started school I have thought about am I doing the right thing...and of course the reverse will apply too, I'm sure

Bero I'm sorry you are leaving. I hope you stay in touch and we hear your news from time to time.

And that if you want or need support or friendship you drop in.

I think that's what makes me think I will never leave...not completely

In fact as we were driving throuhg Bexhill (don;t ask) last weekend I thought about whether or not there would be a nice cosy yurt to be logging into when I am in a nursing home...

DS has just been quite atrocious

littlerach · 30/10/2008 17:03

FH, is it your ds who is in reception?
How ois he doing?

Dd2 had just stopped cryong each lunchtime and then it was half term!!
Hopefully she'll manage when we go back. At least she is still part time.

filthymindedSixSixSixen · 30/10/2008 17:43

I have bought lots of F&V..and I seem to have accumaltaed 4 pumpkins...

lionheart · 30/10/2008 18:15

Hey, filth, 'tis your season now (I always associate you with Halloween, don't know why, maybe that gothicky pirate thing).

lionheart · 30/10/2008 18:17

Hope you will come back, Bero (your post was, I thought, very honest).

filthymindedSixSixSixen · 30/10/2008 18:20

well, fullmoonfiend was a halloween name which I stuck with necause it seemed so right for me. But yes, Halloween does bring out the child in me. I adore orange and black and pumpkins and bats and witches and fire and apples and dressing up and sweeties.

Bero, I wish you much peace and may love go with you x

lionheart · 30/10/2008 18:31

It is rather jolly, isn't it?

OsmosisBOOnana · 30/10/2008 19:05

Too much to do, too much to do, too much to do, too much to do

And there is gin in the fridge.

banana
satsuma
haricot beans / onions etc
strawb / blueb

shite 4.

i forgot my lunch again so had to make do with a Clive's pie.

Shucks

Don't let me back in, really need to get the bulk of this blummin essay done.

Ghouladalupe · 30/10/2008 19:07

Do you often keep gin in the fridge?

filthymindedSixSixSixen · 30/10/2008 19:31

lol at gin in fridge. That's handy then!

OB, I'v passed your name and pic onto my bouncers; if you try and come back here tonight luv, you'll be exiting stage left by yer coat-tails. now go and drink gin achieve stuff!

I have just carved a pumpkin which will be vommitting it's innards onto my doorstep tomorrow! (Did I mention I love Halloween?)

OsmosisBOOnana · 30/10/2008 19:36

At the moment, anything that can fit in the fridge is in the fridge. No kitchen see. Tinned toms, noodles, ground pepper, you name it, they are snuggled down in the comfort of my fridge.

littlerach · 30/10/2008 19:45

Guad, you can get calomine (sp??) mixed with aqceous (even worse spelling!) from the chemists. It is much better stuff.

I have just eaten the most delicious pear. I dribled it all down my chin but it was so nice I couldn't stop again.

Dd2 is sneezing and spluttering - we need fruity vibes so she is well enough for the party we are going to tomorrow night.

And the ILs come back tomorrow. I htink it'll be fine .
I think....

FrightKnot · 30/10/2008 20:02

Sorry Lionheart, I missed you before - hello!!!

have posted a thread about DS as it's getting me down.

It would be lovely if someone could bump it for me. I feel out of my depth with it.

Prior to starting school, DS had got to a really lovely stage most of the time where he could be reasoned with very effectively.

Now all gone haywire.

here

hammouhouseofhorror · 30/10/2008 20:52

Fruity get well vibes to litttlerach's Dd2.

ooohhh new (old?) names...anyone want me to run for them? I do running by proxy . slowly for next couple of days as I slightly twisted my ankle tonight....that'll teach me....prob'ly won't he he he.

Best wishes Bero, may you find solace elsewhere.

No chickenpox advice Guad. Me and DS had oral chicken pox once. ow ow. Get well soon to your little mite.

Used an egg to condition my hair once but used hot water to rinse it out and it scrambled. rofl at memory...I had very long hair.

apple,

pinkspottywellies · 30/10/2008 21:41

Ho Hum.

Feeling a bit lurky and out of it having been away for a few days!

Will skirt around the sidelines for a while.

Have to tell you though - we took dd to a pick your own fruit and veg place the other day and she was soooo excited! You'd think she was in Legoland or something! We picked blackberries, counted pumpkins, picked apples and splashed in muddy puddles and I've never seen her so delighted! We spent less than £4 and got 3 tubs of blackberries, an apple and a beetroot! Bargain day out! Will def do it again in the summer

daisy99malign · 30/10/2008 22:34

Hi Pink
don't lurk, jump back in!

I have just made a halloween outfit for DS, I am very proud since I am not crafty at all

DH laughed. Not wise when I hold the pinking shears

cauli, carrot and raisin
total of about 5 or 6

But I have taken up fencing

FK so sorry about DS, how can we help?
