We had peaches, we had plums, we had strawberries in the sun, but the peaches and the plums, like the strawberries are all gone - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Tatties · 02/09/2008 20:22

TooT - I am thinking about ordering something personalised as a present for someone, if your dp can do it, how much advance warning do you need?

SuperBunny · 02/09/2008 20:28

Olives are allowed, Bbbeee

Good question for Toot - I wanted to ask the same but think I have left it a bit late to get something here by the 20th

BabiesEverywhere · 02/09/2008 20:38

Evening. I cannot keep up. You have all been talking too much.

I don't have my period after all.

Morning at work, afternoon roaming round botanic garden with dses - stunning late-summer weather, really lovely, but not as lovely as last week when it was very sunny but autumn was really really in the air, tangibly so - all earth and pale-blue sky and leaves everywhere. Today was stickier.

ds1 started lovely kindergarten today. dh settled him in and said it went very well and he really likes it.

Planning escape from work is feeling more imperative.

berolina · 02/09/2008 20:39

Not much f+v, but I haven't eaten much at all today. Veg risotto on the hob.

avi i once or twice said "ok you don't want to go today? right we had better go and tell them, or they will wonder where you are"

then often forgot en route he didn't want to go
but ds has this issue with beginnings so tghat just got him over the hump so to speak

TTB - now you have achieved 10, you have to show us naked pictures. It is The Law....

It is 9 o clock, my house is stillchaos, and I still hve packed lunches to make. I have done loads of laundry, ironing (don't tell anyone)m, cooked supper, provided a friend with pirate clothes, read a story and helped eliminate Go-Go world back to the boys' bedrooms. (I felt awful, it was an amazing world they had created with their go-gos, sadly all over my bedroom floor.

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2008 21:15

ds1 legally has to begin being educated today

am trying not to think about how little we ever do that LOOKS like being educated

LOL at FMV already weaving her ways with nakedness amongst new recruits.

Boco · 02/09/2008 21:43

Do you have to tell people that you're home educating Franny? How does it work? Does anyone ever have to check that you're doing learny things?

Dd asked me if I'd ever home ed her yesterday while she was going through her list of reasons why she should not have to go to school. They included 1. it goes on ALL day. 2. there are not enough / any toys there. 3. It is boring

I said yes. But I don't think I meant it. No that's not true, if she was miserable I would of course. But today she came home all happy and she likes her new teacher, and there are still toys in year 2, and she loved skipping and PE and she drew the best frog she's ever drawn, and is looking forward to tomorrow. So, for now it's all good.

FrayedKnot · 02/09/2008 22:02

I did yoga

On top of veggie cheesy bake

I have done quite well today I think. A large clementine, strawbs, rasps, salad for lunch, veggie bake, green beans and cherry toms for supper.

I need soemthing to take my mind off current stresses...

What is happening about the meet up?

FrayedKnot · 02/09/2008 22:16

Franny my sister recently went on a refresher course (she is an early yrs teacher currently not working) and IIRC the guidelines are now that children spend 80% of their time in free play and only 20% teacher led (think that is Reception).

When I asked her the definition of free play she said the children must not be directed in any way, they must be allowed to choose their own activities and do what they want with them.

So...as you were, I reckon.

fishie · 02/09/2008 22:19

I had an email from a friend in London this evening asking if I'd be interested in free life coaching as her friend is training and needs practice person. It'd be six sessions, an hour on the phone each time. I emailed the woman and she's phoning this week. Quite excited - hope she's nice, hope it gives me focus to do something and decide what on earth I want to be when I grow up.

Guadalupe · 02/09/2008 22:29

That sounds good, Boco.

I got drunk at the private view and decided to have dinner on the way home in a posh place not really thinking about the fact that I was a bit scruffy and dh would have trouble getting ds2 to bed.

I had three courses with foams and spoons of indescribable things inbetween and I ignored the smart people and the phone and dh was a bit frosty as I ran home. Tasty though.

Boco · 02/09/2008 22:32

God how lovely Guad. Foams and spoons too?
Were you on your own in the restaurant?

fishie · 02/09/2008 22:34

that sounds really good fun guadalupe.

i was in office from 8-6.45 then sat upon and hit on head by rushing commuter men on train. i made a tiny fuss but didn't get head hitter.
