We had peaches, we had plums, we had strawberries in the sun, but the peaches and the plums, like the strawberries are all gone - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I would like to do something arty now. Why are all the opportunities available to those too young to know what they want. I was useless and clueless at 16, 17, 18....

FrayedKnot · 02/09/2008 16:45

I get that feeling TooT, when AF is heavy.

DS got up twice last night and the wind was making a tree bang onto the side wall of our bedroom, so I feel a little jaded.

I don;t seem to have the right clothes for this weather. Summer really is over, isn;t it

I am going to make some kind of vegetable cheesy bake tonight as homage to Autumn.

FrayedKnot · 02/09/2008 16:46

I have halloumi in fridge

FrayedKnot · 02/09/2008 16:49

I was forced (pretty much) to opt out of O'Level art by the powers that were

I had to do latin instead so I failed it on purpose

Still feel about it

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 16:49

I'm glad it's not just me FK

I slept oddly last night. I kept finding myself awake for no discernable reason. Perhaps I was missing the through-the-night drumming from the Ragged Hedge.

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 16:50

State education can be pretty shit, can't it? I screwed up in so many ways, but with good advice would probably have gone far. Well, further.

Tatties · 02/09/2008 16:52

Oh yes I would love to go to art college now too...

FK I know what you mean about clothes. Today I rather misguidedly put on a skirt without tights Which should really still be ok, I mean it's only just September...

TooT my legs feel like lead at the beginning of my period

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 16:53

Sorry, I didn't mean to say state education, I meant school education generally.

Tatties · 02/09/2008 16:53

ooh I couldn't sleep last night either! Or the night before. Not like me

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 16:54

Right, ds2 "needs" to do something on the computer, apparently.

littlerach · 02/09/2008 16:55

FrayedNot, veg cheesey thing sounds ideal.

Anything cheesey in fact.

TooTicky, the school beginning with J. Not G which I guess is closest to you.
Are you confused yet ?

The rain has arrived here.
It was actually sunny most of the day

Tatties · 02/09/2008 16:56

I need to sort out the kitchen and make dinner

filthymindedvixen · 02/09/2008 17:38

we too are having veggie/cheesey bake tonight...but with some bacon too
I bought my first jumper of autumn today....

I also want to do something arty. Think I'll whip up some birthday cards for my stash. It beats housework, which is what I need to do

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 18:44

Yes LittleRach, I thought you meant the J one.
The G one is going to move much closer to us and change to M I think. G would have been so convenient, if only we'd likeds it. And if certain people were not going there. Ditto D. Anyway, dd1 is all excitement with just a touch of nerves.

I am making a sort of stew with carrots and mushrooms and beans. Ds1 wants me to put spaghetti in it. I can't refuse him anything with his poor bruised face.

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 18:45

Housework? What is that? Oh I know, the stuff that just undoes itself instantly. What is the point?

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2008 18:49

evening
that mad thing happened where you have friends round, and they say "15 mins till we go" to the children, and then VERY SUDDENLY it is an hour later and dp is home and we were still sitting surrounded by toys and the remains of cake and there was no dinner made

swot

SuperBunny · 02/09/2008 18:54

That eye looks v painful Toot. Poor thing

I made white bean boursin from the uncheese cookbook. It is not at all like boursin and needs tons of salt in it I think, then it might be edible.

So, white beans, tomatoes (2), juice, raisins, apple and will have more apples and raisins for supper

SuperBunny · 02/09/2008 18:56

I can't help with Overrun's thread

TooTicky · 02/09/2008 18:58

Might be edible? Oh dear.

Ds1's eye is recovering, and has incredible moving bruising. It seems to hurt him most when I am telling him off for something

SuperBunny · 02/09/2008 19:06

It just tastes of mushed beans and dried herbs, toot. Which I suppose should come as no surprise. But it doesn't taste good. I think I was expecting it to taste just like Boursin though

Tittybangbang · 02/09/2008 19:23

"oh god yummmmm crispy seaweed
how do you do the drying thing? we have loads of greens, constantly [veg box]"

Don't wash it. (hence need to use organic or ready washed greens)

Shred it with scissors of sharp, sharp knife. It needs to be SHREDDED finely. I roll the leaves up then shred them.

Dry it by squeezing gently with kitchen towel.

Now, the nicest way to go forward from here is to DEEP FRY IT in vegetable oil.

The sensible way is to spray it with vegetable oil and cook it in a VERY hot oven. It needs to be evenly coated with oil and watched very closely during cooking. It burns fast.

Today:
Dried pineapple
Apple muffin (home made with at least one portion of apple in each muffin - promise )
Clementine
Vegetable pasta (one portion of veg)
Glass of juice
Courgettes
Potatoes
Dried prunes
Apple
Dried apricots
Slice water melon
Half a tin of sweetcorn

SuperBunny · 02/09/2008 19:42

What kind of greens, titty? I don't think I can call you that
