We had peaches, we had plums, we had strawberries in the sun, but the peaches and the plums, like the strawberries are all gone - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes please Bee, think she'll get away with dark grey black. Thanks.

Guadalupe · 04/09/2008 12:50

I don't make the stuffings and things, I buy them when I go to a farmers market or something. I've got so many bloody jars of things all over the place.

It's quite easy really. Just put it on the veg to roast. If it doesn't crackle, peel off and stick it back in on high heat. Then make the gravy with your fat and veg and cider like you would normally make gravy.

OsmosisBanana · 04/09/2008 13:11

a masterclass there by Guad.

I don't cook roast pork as I can't get it perfect which makes me scream and rip my hair out even though it's still probably very tasty by anyone elses standards.

I am very exacting. But only in the kitchen. Everywhere else... meh.

OsmosisBanana · 04/09/2008 13:32

The most peculiar thing just happened.

Guadalupe · 04/09/2008 13:33

I had many hair-ripping sunday rages with pork until I realised I could simply crackle the crackling on it's own. It's not my favourite roast, too grey for me, but dh loves it so we have it now and then.

OsmosisBanana · 04/09/2008 13:37

Went into the hell that is Broadmead to find bikini with 20 mins of lunch break remaining.

Went to Next - none in store

Went to H of F - none in store

Went to Debenhams. Racks and racks of the buggers. Grabbed at least 20 in different sizes / colours / shapes etc and thought - this is going to end in tears. And sweat. And loud swearing.

First one I tried on - good.

So I thought, fuck trying the rest on, I'm off.

And t'was reduced to £18.

Peculiar non? I was prepared for the nervous breakdown that normally happens when I have to try too many things on in ANY length of time, let alone 20 mins.

filthymindedvixen · 04/09/2008 14:10

OsmosisBanana · 04/09/2008 14:14

iNDEED - HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLUR!!!!

S1ur · 04/09/2008 15:40

Thank you!

Having a good ish day so far, Been to museum today with dc as the weather is so miserable, again. and it all got a bit fraught involving dd soaking herself and getting a bit irritatingly commited to drying her sleeves under the hand dryer. In the end I was clearly exasperated and her little face crumpled and said 'oh mummy is this the worst birthday you've ever had?'

Poor thing - I assured her half an hour hanging around in a smelly toilet was actually pretty high up on my good birthdays list because of the good company.

(not far from truth thinking back to birthday nights ending in smelly toilets at nightclubs holding friends hair while their sick )

Anyway, we cheered up in cafe with poncey egg mayo, spinach and sundried tomato sandwiches. And with any luck dh will have booked somewhere to eat out tonight.

Yay!

Boco One tasty and simple way to do pork, is to peel garlic cloves, wrap in fresh sage leaves and make incisions into meat and stuff inside. Then roast 30min/kg plus 30min. You can use fresh rosemary sprigs instead of sage if you prefer.

OB I love shopping trips that just work out, so very satisfying.

I finally got my body shape back after abouy a year and seem to be losing it a bit again, going a wee bit soft focus at the edges. I may just get pregnant so I can stop trying to be slim and toned.

I just noticed our fruit box in the alley, forgot it was coming today. It's full of the most delicious peaches and grapes and plums.

ahundredtimes · 04/09/2008 18:45

[very slowly eats huge and delicious cake, just out of reach, followed by languid eating of strawberries and so ripe it's unbelievable pineapple. Smiles at Franny. ALSO does all this with a SUN TAN]

Guadalupe · 04/09/2008 18:46

Oh, sorry, didn't mean to be insensitive to your immobility and hunger.
