For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

yes
he almost always wakes up at 6.20 am when dp gets up, no matter what time he has gone to bed, so we try to get him to sleep shortly after 7
in fact he often is up earlier than that
2 days ago he slept through till 7 am which is mostly unheard of
of course that day ds2 got up at 4.45

we have embarrassing amounts of plastic branded tat to hang off the gym
I did a lot of hormonally inspired shopping with ds1

filthymindedvixen · 03/08/2008 19:19

oh you've reminded me, I used to hand-draw black and white images on card backed with shiny paper to hang on ds1's babygym as I had heard it would stimulate him...the images had borders of black and white checks. My only defence is he was a winter baby, and come january, the weather was shit and I was bored witless ....

mind you, he is a genius, so obviously it worked. That and playing Classic FM to him

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 20:17

he has been staring at the Klimt print on the wall for about 20 mins now
farking gifted

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 20:22

You should start with the flashcards soon I reckon

'here is a good mango'

'here is a bad mango'

and so on

pinkspottywellies · 03/08/2008 20:32

Are we having a new thread? I like the fruity pie one. Are we being daring tonight and teetering on the edge of falling off before we start a new one? I quite like getting to 1002 posts. It's exciting

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 20:32

you are right

when he was grizzling and then we put him under the gym and he went quiet, dp said (in all seriousness)

"oh do you think he has just been a bit BORED then?"
LOL

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 20:33

ooh I forgot the thread
I would wait till the morning and start one but I don't seem to be getting onto MN at 7.30 am like I used to

shall I do it now? or we might really fall off

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 20:34

grapes strawberries melon apple

berolina · 03/08/2008 20:37

oh fmv how crap about the bike.

I met someone today who is due tomorrow and has the most unbelievably neat smallish-ball-under-her-top bump of the sort I had at about 26 weeks. She is going to give me singing lessons once things with the baby have settled down and I am going to give her English lessons in return.

This afternoon I made a blueberry and lemon cheesecake and painted a 'shop counter' for ds1 (www.ikea.com/de/de/catalog/products/44361109 this]]. When I asked him what kind of shop he wanted he said '[name of our local organic supermarket]' .

f+v: apple (2). Basil and tomato sauce.

berolina · 03/08/2008 20:38

this

IdrisTheDragon · 03/08/2008 20:38

Hello

BBBee · 03/08/2008 20:41

oh blueberry and lemon cheesecake sounds divine.

I think I might make a cherry pie as I have some I loving stoned and stewed and froze in a moment of uncharacteristic homeliness.

franny - does ds2 do that gazing thing when he feeds when he locks on your eyes and gazes? I love that.

carrot - we are camping in norfolk soon - would love to know about fish and chip research.

swede
peas
tomatoes
beetroot
orange
strawberries
lemon in g&t

IdrisTheDragon · 03/08/2008 20:42

DS and DD had an overnight stay with my their uncle and aunt last night, so DH and I were pretending to be civilised grownups. We went out to dinner (pub over the road) and went to bed early and stayed in bed late and had brunch in cafe rouge and read newspapers.

Green beans, beetroot, strawberries, apple juice

BBBee · 03/08/2008 20:43

oh i have a crazy idea that i wouldn't usually share but think 10/10ers will get it.

I did a clothkits doll for dd (as facebookers will know) and i have um, retained an idea for the pattern. I am thinking of making an array of dolls with no features in different colours of the rainbow and then a set of differetn colour clothes.

I think this sounds crazily beautiful. will my children be deeply disturbed?

pinkspottywellies · 03/08/2008 20:44

Oh dear BBB apparently you can't hide your GandT

berolina · 03/08/2008 20:45

hello Idris and Bee. Sounds lovely, Idris

dh has left his email open on this computer (he usually uses his laptop). I am mildly curious and slightly tempted but I Will Not.

berolina · 03/08/2008 20:46

Bee, I think that sounds crazily beautiful too

IdrisTheDragon · 03/08/2008 20:46

Bother, am posting too much on (what I presume to be) spoof thread on a DH with depression and crying and things. Will keep away I think (as it has been suggested I am being too PC )

berolina · 03/08/2008 20:49

oh I am halfway through that. Was unsure if it was genuine but I think the hamster was adeliberate clue.

IdrisTheDragon · 03/08/2008 20:53

I also think the hamster was a clue. Just not happy that this the whole scenario is considered funny

berolina · 03/08/2008 20:55

ikwym idris.

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 20:59

oh, me too, idris, but i don't care if it isn't real, I can't see why it's so absurd to get upset like that

Boco · 03/08/2008 21:47

Hello, I don't understand that thread, keep changing my mind as to whether it's real, either way it's sad - hate the 'get a grip' stuff.

Oh my goodness we stayed in the most amazing house I've ever been in. It was HUGE, with the best garden, it was very eccentric and peculiar and marvelous. I am so wildly curious about the woman now, she can't be of this world - or at least of this era, I have to know about her! She has 4 little boys and they seem to have a 1930's childhood, there were no modern toys, all really old and display cabinets everywhere with dead bats and fossils and wings of butterflies and odd things they'd found and labelled themselves - and more books than i've ever seen, everywhere - hidden rooms full, secret staircases, just books and books everywhere. It was all crumbling and old and musty and dark corners with strange old furniture.

We went crabbing yesterday, and we swam in the river today. Although I can't swim so I floundered in the shallows.

BBBee · 03/08/2008 21:52

oh river "swimming"! I am very of river "swimming" - and the house sounds like a treasure.

I am also of carrot's wedding and franny plumped cheeked baby.

I am here to just at everyone (including those slitty eyes)

berolina · 03/08/2008 21:52

oh Boco that sounds wonderful. I cannot swim either and doubt I will ever learn now, but I love being in water.

Have finished that thread - the 'get a grip' stuff is depressing, so is the scornful focus on a man crying. Makes me sort of premptively (no, that's not the word I mean) sad for dses.
