For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Quick someone funny and clever needs to come up with a title.

(phew. no-one thinks I'm funny or clever so I don't have to think of one )

BBBee · 03/08/2008 00:07

hello

gosh look at the time.

I am not claiming to be funny or clever - more tired and tipsy.

Um, er, 'fruity is in the pie of the beholder'?

I can't do this unless we are bouncing ideas about.

Last mango is good but have had it recently IIRC.

hope carrot is having / had a wonderful time.

franny - lovely to see you so jolly.

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 10:20

oh I do like the fruity pie one, can we have that one?

pink sympathy on tiredness

ds1 and dp have gone out to a birthday party at a nature reserve
it is quite the latest thing round here - do you have them where you are? I am not sure what they actually DO at the party but will report back when they return

anyway ds2 asleep in sling
seems very luxuriously quiet here and even quite tidy as dp has been doing sterling job
he is back to work tomorrow

filthymindedvixen · 03/08/2008 11:12

fruity pie - will do for me

oh dear lord, what do I do when I have no chuldren...?

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 11:20

Yes, yes, fruity pie one. I like that.

Dh is cooking me a full english and I can hardly wait. I am still a bit drunk and have that itchy bloody feeling where you need food and it needs to be with brown sauce.

It was SO lovely.

The ceremony was in the large hall and there were the most beautifil wild flowers everywhere and the groom announced he was also adopting the older daughter and everyone who managed not to cry until them was sobbing and swapping tissues. I met lots of interesting people by the prossecco and then, apart from a potato salad, MY salads were the only ones to go with the hog roast and vegi paella.

Thank god I made vast amounts, if I had known this the pressure would have got me. People seemed to be tucking in though. Then there was live cuban band and a salsa class and some people had clearly done it before and were showing off nicely and the rest of us tried to keep up with odd knee jerky movements and hands going in the air at the wrong time but it was funny and when I got tired there were lots of people in the bar talking about cervixes and birth so I shared a bit in there and then danced again and talked to lots more interesting people and someone gave me a great book and I feel a bit fired up again and mght go back to university but I will see if I still want to when I am not still drunk after breakfast.

My friend looked so happy. Weddings can be grim and boring sometimes but when it's people you love it's a different thing isn't it, really moving.

filthymindedvixen · 03/08/2008 11:23

so glad you went amnd that it was lovely and not an anticlimax

I want to roll around with dh in a child-free state of nivarna but time of the month is making it impossible

I expect we will just go and have cofee and idle with the papers instead...

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 11:28

The teenage girls were very funny. They kept having sneaky glasses of wine and and changing their outfits and everytime the dresses changed they changed the colour of their eye make-up and they were eating sweets constantly, either jelly beans or lollipops. I quite wanted to hang out with them actually, as they seemed to be having great fun but I restricted my self to admiring the outits and requesting a surreptitious jelly bean under the table.

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 11:30

outfits! I must check my spellings

filthymindedvixen · 03/08/2008 11:32

ROL at outits!!! rather appropriate for teenage girls I know.

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 11:56

i heart teenagers
oh mrsc it all sounds excellent

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 11:58

drinking coffee and reading the papers sounds great too, FMV, reading in peace! You could go to the cinema in the day, that would be luxurious.

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 12:03

it was excellent, Franny, I had great fun. I was pleased to get home too, dh was waiting up for me. They had all been out in the van hunting for the best fish and chips in east anglia and they say they found them, a tiny shop in a village where you choose lots of little bits of fish to try and they cook it once you've chosen.

filthymindedvixen · 03/08/2008 12:41

agggh!! Gutted yet impotent! DH's swishy mountain bike has been nicked from the grage They prised the garage door open....of course, it was not locked as was in a locked garage..it was worth £100sss
DH won't reoport it as he says there is no point and we can't claim on house insurance as we can't afford the pay the excess. Gloom gloom.

TigerFeet · 03/08/2008 12:56

Hello

haven't read thread - hope everyone is well

have eaten fruit, veg, chips and chinese food

been v busy

luuuuuuuuuurve to all

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 12:56

Oh no, FMV, that's awful.

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 13:09

FMF - re insurance - when I claimed for something recently they just sent a cheque for what a replacement cost, minus the excess
I didn't actually have to 'pay' the excess or provide proof I had bought the replacement

pinkspottywellies · 03/08/2008 17:03

Glad you had a wonderful time Guad and that the others found something lovely to do without you!

Hello everyone!

FMV when we've had stuff replaced on insurance they have sent the item to us. But it's worth finding out if they do it Franny's way. But also, if he's resigned to not having it any more cause it's been nicked then could you beg or borrow the excess, replace the bike, then sell it and keep the cash. Otherwise you've wasted all the insurance premiums you've paid. I found it barely makes a difference to the next years premiums. Seems such a shame to pay out over and over for premiums and not claim. Also long term, is he likely to buy another one in the future? Because at least now he would only be spending the excess (£50/100?) if you can possible scrape it together. Sorry if it's totally impossible, but anyway, there's my long and waffly thoughts on the matter!!

My dad stayed for about 18 hours in total! Thought they'd be here longer but had a nice time. And dh and I took dd to the park this afternoon, which was nice cause he doesn't usually come.

Franny you'll be fine when dp goes back to work. Don't panic!

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 17:56

ds did a fossil dig at the party
they buried some huge ammonites etc in sand

#i hyad fruit for breakfast can't remember what
and some raspberry chocolate that was in my stupendous parcel
I feel like ~I have only scratched the surface of this parcel
it may last me years

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 17:57

ds2 grizzly
everyone else busy
bah
when ds1 was like this i used to put in sling and go for walk
bit awkward now as dinnertime / bedtime for ds1
what does one do?

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 17:59

I have only just stopped cleaning since I last posted, and a minestrone is on the boil and brownies are in the oven. Dh says I should get drunk more often. The floor is gleaming.

Raspberry chocolate sounds mighty tasty, Franny. I am flagging a bit now so am having hair of the dog, well, second hair.

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 18:00

all go for walk and then come back and have dinner?

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 18:03

well no, cos it's dinner time now
ds goes up to get ready for bed at 6.30 latest

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 18:04

and dinner is not done anyway!

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2008 18:33

aha he really loves the play gym thing!
you see G+T

dinner is now ready
carrots, chard, mushrooms, onions in stir fry

Guadalupe · 03/08/2008 18:44

does he really? That's brilliant, mine are rarely in bed before ten atm. Mine all loved the baby gym too, I used to hang all sorts of odd things on it.
