For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

What did she mean, about nothing doing up there? And not surprising in second pg? Did she talk about texture and things? I remember from sweeps, the vivid descriptions of cervical status.

ahundredtimes · 14/07/2008 14:49

Yes, it was all about thickness and thinness wasn't it. It was years ago though. I was also two weeks late with ds2. I can't remember that sweep though.

Boco · 14/07/2008 14:50

I remember both vividly. I always imagined a rubbery squeak. I did imagine that didn't I?

UnderRated · 14/07/2008 14:50

Hope FMF's DS is ok.

What's going on with Idris? Is she alright?

Sorry nothing doing Franny.

Off to beach.

That's guad's ds Avi, for once I am rash free.

ahundredtimes · 14/07/2008 15:03

Are you? Has your rash gone?

I am packing for three days on a dairy farm. Only I'm not packing. I am thinking. We have to eat on a bar-b-q apparently, which is nice if it doesn't rain. Which it will. It's going to be very muddy this trip I think. I am feeling tired at the prospect, but that is silly because it will be fine when we get there and we can walk about and um, look at cows.

Kind of gone - more being held at bay by steroid creams. I didn't particularly approve of medication either, but after a year of this rash, having found one that is working I'm using it, and sleeping at night.

It'll be fun 100. I'm feeling much the same about sleeping in a tent in the rain, but it'll be an adventure!

ahundredtimes · 14/07/2008 15:22

This was the conversation ds2 and I had last night. I know I have taxed your patience enough about it but it is a fitting finale to how stupid my life is.

He said 'I think we should put all of today behind us now' with a beaming smile. 'Let's just forget about it. But i have some money in my bank account and I'm going to buy Dad a new picture as he was very nice about the one I broke.'

And I said 'that's very kind. Yes, we should forget about it. But there are a couple of things we should remember too I think, otherwise the whole thing might happen again if we totally wipe our memories'

'Ah' he said nodding. 'Yes.'

'What are the things we should keep do you think?'

'Like how to do stuff? Like that ice lolly sort of thing?'

'NO. LIKE WHAT IS THE MORAL OF THIS TALE TYPE STUFF'

'Oh yeah. Okay, but we also need to remember like how to go to the loo and things.'

'FORGET THE MEMORY WIPE THING DS2.'

'I'm forgetting to wipe my memory?' much laughter, from him.

Me: preachy voice: What did we say about how this has to work like a team? How you have to do things you don't want to, and you can't freak out about it?'

'Yeah, yeah. Night then Mum. Will we remember who we are in the morning if we've wiped our memories? It'll be weird won't it?'

'Goodnight ds2'

berolina · 14/07/2008 15:23

Franny, glad it went, well, well. I got so used to transfanjonal scans for various pgs and mcs and internals due to shortened cervix with dses that I didn't feel violated by it - it was all sort of routine - wghich is possibly ? I don't know. I do remember with ds2 my gynae actually predicted his appearance very accurately. I was 2 weeks early with ds1 so convinced I would be early again, and got very jumpy when week after week she said 'not yet' and was right. Then when I was 40-and-a-bit weeks she said 'oh, you might well have this baby at the weekend'. And was right. At 40+8. Am glad I did as they were keen to induce me at 40+10 and made an enormous and unnecessary deal of minuscule spots of grit (or 'chalk', as he Germans charmingly call it) on the placenta.

My day has dissolved in a bath of bureaucracy. But still fab salad for lunch - mixed leaves, carrot, red and yellow pepper, homegrown mangetout and broad beans and basil, and sunflower seeds.

berolina · 14/07/2008 15:27
  1. dh is exactly like that. He almost compulsively takes things to what he deems to be their logical conclusion. I think it's the way he thinks, rather than to annoy me.
IdrisTheDragon · 14/07/2008 15:42

Hello again .

I had worries before as DH was incommunicado and his work called asking where he was. As he had been a bit migrainy this morning I was worried that he had crashed the car or something.

When I finally spoke to him it turned out he is being a magistrate today and so wasn't answering his phone. Have been eating poorly due to feeling stressed .

Tatties · 14/07/2008 16:02

Franny your sweep sounds like the one I had. I wanted to lie down for the rest of he day.

Idris glad dh is safe and sound

TooTicky · 14/07/2008 17:07

I have been eating VERY BADLY. No reason other than general crapness.

1112000x, he sounds delightful but exhausting.

Toot - I think you should make two sandwiches or whatever then when she runs off with it you can whip out the other one. There is something about the thought of you sitting there hungry that makes me feel very frustrated.

Franny - glad she was thorough!! It'll be tonight, I bet my island.

Avi - thanks, I do use the AB cream if necessary. People keep asking if he has chicken pox, it does look a bit like that now. He HATES having the cream on though, it goes all over the place.

UnderRated · 14/07/2008 17:42

Oh 100x, he does sound lovely. If a little trying at times. But you sound like you deal with it so well

Blueberries
Banana
big herby salad
Spinach (but only a tiny bit in ravioli)
Pineapple

Guadalupe · 14/07/2008 17:42

Oh bloody hell, you are vegan aren't you

UnderRated · 14/07/2008 17:49

lol, Guad. I'll have the cheese toastie - sounds yum. Unless it was cheeze, in which case, that's ok for vegans!

Had lovely morning on the beach. I buried DS again. But now there is sand everywhere. I hate sand.

FrannyandZooey · 14/07/2008 17:52

oh Idris I am glad dh is ok

Avi sorry it must have sounded strange
we just found it amusing as you are not really city finance type person and dp was convinced from your post that you had been a financial advisor, as he was, and it nearly killed him with stress, so I think he was sort of half amazed half horrified
he works for the financial ombudsman now so is still pleased to recognise a fellow erm, well, a fellow

well she didn't describe it Boco because it was so absolutely depressingly shut
but in my notes it says
uneffaced
posterior
CLOSED

Guadalupe · 14/07/2008 17:57

mine was uneffaced, posterior and closed for ages with ds2, Franny, even though I was in labour, and then suddenly it was 4-5 cms. Closed one second, open the next. Funny things cervixes.

Boco · 14/07/2008 17:58

Oh dear, shame about your uneffaced cervix, what would that be..defaced? How many days over are you?

Guad your post has given me a huge craving for a cheese toasted sandwich with mango chutney. I want one of those toasted sandwich makers so much, I had one, and dp threw it away because he hated it, but I LOVED it and 8 years later I still haven't forgiven him. I must get one.
