For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh Tatties I thought it was funny, I just wondered if I would feel stupid saying things might be happening and then actually having a title about it - if nothing happens
I like this one it is kind of hopeful and full of possibilities

have just made lettuce, rocket, watercress, basil, spinach, cucumber, tomato, avocado, chickpea and veg sausage salad

hurry up dp

Ooo, exciting stuff going on in here today

Peas, broccoli, grapes, blueberries, banana, juice (6)

TooTicky · 10/07/2008 18:08

What's happening? Franny, go for a run.

trampolining ought to do it...

Guadalupe · 10/07/2008 18:12

I am very pleased with my new veg box, it is full of peaches and plums and bright green things. I might leave them in there and look at them now and then.

Guadalupe · 10/07/2008 18:13

have you had reflexology, Franny?

filthymindedvixen · 10/07/2008 18:14

lol, I always feel like that about my veg box when I can afford one. It seems so wholesome and lovely and too nice to eat...

UnderRated · 10/07/2008 18:15

Sounds yummy, Guadalupe

My friend had a baby this morning - Niall. She wasn't due for 2 weeks and it has pissed off my other friend as she was due on the 5th. Babies are so unpredictable.

Guadalupe · 10/07/2008 18:17

yes, it does. I thought about Franny having two large fruit boxes, we have one large fruit and one large veg, I don't think I would want more than one. I wouldn't want quite that many apples and oranges and then I would need to buy raspberries and mangoes and stuff from the shop, but this week is good. It will probably be all swedes by november.

TooTicky · 10/07/2008 18:17

MrsLupe, kindly do not gloat I missed my box deadline again.

I spoke to my friend who has called her baby the same name earlier, she was worried about telling me. I suppose it does seem a bit odd, but you can't own a name can you? Anyway, it is a great name.

TooTicky · 10/07/2008 18:18

Do your children not hoover up apples and oranges? Blimey, mine do!!

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 10/07/2008 18:19

what do you mean, Toot, a deadline for ordering?

FrannyandZooey · 10/07/2008 18:19

have eaten large salad
at run
I can just about walk
sanitary towels are revolting aren't they? why do they smell so bad? I don't smell like that

FrannyandZooey · 10/07/2008 18:20

apols if that was TMI

FrannyandZooey · 10/07/2008 18:21

oh our fruit box is a bit crap atm
since the other people stopped doing it we had to go with someone else and it isn't so good
in fact every week it looks more and more meagre
but I have not had the impetus to actually do something about it

Guadalupe · 10/07/2008 18:22

well, they do, yes, dd eats piles of apples, but until this week they have been golden delicious and I am not so keen on them and topped it up with coxes/jazz. This week they nice and pink.

Guadalupe · 10/07/2008 18:24

yes, they can sometimes start off fab and then wane a bit, that's what happened before. These are new people and I trust him to be bountiful and fruity and good for some time. He looks wholesome.

TooTicky · 10/07/2008 18:25

Yes, ordering deadline. I always leave it until the last minute then suddenly realise while I am washing up or something.
I can't wait until English apple season.

UnderRated · 10/07/2008 18:26

I hate sanitary towels too. Smelly and messy. Ick.

I have a cunting pineapple in the fridge that doesn't seem to be ripening at all. I might chop it up and palm it off on unsuspecting children this afternoon.

I really want a nap. My insomnia is getting worse and I don't know why or wht to do about it.

TooTicky · 10/07/2008 18:28

This afternoon? What time is it in your parallel universe UR?

And yes, sanitary towels are horrid.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 10/07/2008 18:28

UR I don't think things ripen too well in the fridge

what time is it there?

Guadalupe · 10/07/2008 18:28

we just order one type and then it comes every week, well, you can change it if you want. I love apples but I like lots of different types. I get bored of the same ones.

TigerFeet · 10/07/2008 18:29

ooooh I go dahhn saarf and Things Happen

Agree santitary towels are grim. They remind me of being at school, I went to a convent boarding school where we were bought sanitary towels the size of breeze blocks - tampons and slim towels were not deemed suitable for young gals

Hurrah for Boco's sensible head

FrannyandZooey · 10/07/2008 18:29

there is rumour locally of an Apple Man who just brings apples
I have been told he has 26 different varieties
nobody can quite seem to find his number when I ask
