For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello

Sorry some people have hat crap weather today, very, very windy here but warm & sunny moslty.

Was clearing out my desk, at 7am, but nesting phase over now I think.

Boco sorry about DD & the night.

I'm not even going to post my f&v because it's rubbish.

Have loads of chard & brocolli for tea.

TooT will post seeds etc tomorrow!

Franny, will send Playnest shortly.

DS is doing manic dancing, I must get on with supper

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 17:59

FK, I have many many pairs of pants if you can make use of them. Ordinary ones up to about 5-6 then boatloads of boxer shorts up to 9-10 or so. Because of the fickleties of my boys, ds1 kept wanting larger ones and barely wearing them and ds2 hates boxer shorts.

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 18:00

We have sun and wind. Have spent money I shouldn't have spent to take dcs swimming. Seems mean to deny them simple pleasures when dp is still smoking

pinkspottywellies · 22/06/2008 19:26

I was at the swimming pool by 8 this morning! Had a nice splash around. DD likes to jump in off the side - crazy child!

Raisins, chocolatecake, baconandcheesecroissant peas, tomato, nectarine. Oh dear. Haven't been running over the weekend either because of horrible rain yesterday and gales today [wimp]

Hope Lully's day was ok and hope dd feels better Boco

TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 19:29

How aggravating Toot re the smoking.

Apple, 3 nectarines, carrots, broccoli, shedloads of grapes. Would have had some melon too but I bought a half from Morrisons because it was cheap and it had gone mouldy when I found it in the fridge today.

Need to go f&v shopping but am unlikely to manage it before Wednesday

Virus infested pit was fun - dd loves splashing about. I would love it even more if there were no other parents there. One dad (clearly ubercompetitive touchline type) said to his dd of about 5, "Look at that little girl (points to my dd) she can swim fine with her armbands on, why can't you?". I felt so sad for his dd, my Mum used to say stuff like that to me as a child and it made me feel like shit on the bottom of her shoe . I think she thought it would be encouraging

Anywaaaaaay - anyone ever grown pumpkins? I have a pumpkin plant on my kitchen windowsill and I have no idea how to look after it!

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 19:34

I grew mini pumpkins last year
you have to do weird pimp activities with a paintbrush early each morning, or you don't get any pumpkins

Ahhh it's an assisted conception job is it? Good job I asked

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 19:57

Oh, I didn't know that either....

littlerach · 22/06/2008 19:59

Tigerfeet, I am growing a pumpkin too (I think).

It is huge and now in the veg patch. It has quite few flowers on now.

Dd2 brought it home form a party and wasn't sure if it was pumpkin or butternut.

We shall see!

Wedding was fab.
A little teary.
Nice salads (huge BBQ and salads for food).
And gorgeous fruit kebabs.
And loads od mini cream cakes .
dd2 ate almost her own body weight in cake.
Then more pudding later on- pavlova and profiteroles.

My frind looked beautiful. Long ivory dress, with ruched detail at the front.
Then she showed us her shoes - huge orange platform boots. we did laugh.

And there was a barn dance which was great.

OsmosisBanana · 22/06/2008 20:02

God almighty. I am never going to a festival or any other sort of event that lasts more than one day with those folk again.

I have never wanted to beat someone elses child so much in my life. I held off you'll be glad to hear.

I reckon I've prob had about 1.5 p;ortions of F&V since Thurs am. Unless pear cider counts.... I've tried that B4 haven't I? I did play drunk tag / bulldog with small children though.

Isla has chicken pox. Well, I hope it's CP. Could be anything. Hopefully shitey mcshiterson surgery will see us tomorrow without scowling too much at taking her to festival. Whatever.

Is all well? No babies yet?

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 20:17

Hello OB

No, Franny not had baby yet.

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 20:19

Could somebody please say, "Bloody hell TooT, how have you managed to produce such meals - and cakes - with so few ingredients?"
[needy][unappreciated]

pinkspottywellies · 22/06/2008 20:39

Bloody hell TooT, how have you managed to produce such meals - and cakes - with so few ingredients?! You truly are an inspiration to us all

TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 20:56

[invites self round to TooT's for cake cookery on a budget lessons]

OsmosisBanana · 22/06/2008 21:07

TooT - if you could be persuaded to stay overnight come the 12th (not with us, I am actually quite annoying and am having huge renovationals on kitchen areal) there is the most awesome vegan / veggie / organic restaurant near me

yer t'is

bloody amazing food. Well, not actually bloody. That would be odd in a veggie restaurant....

ROFL's at self. Ah well.

OsmosisBanana · 22/06/2008 21:22

Night all, need to sleep on my matress.... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

pinkspottywellies · 22/06/2008 21:26

Bero!! If you're around there's a thread from a mum in Berlin looking for other English mums [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1900/553259 here]

pinkspottywellies · 22/06/2008 21:27

Oh good lord, how lazy of me here

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 22:24

Thank you Pink

OB, I have heard of that place but really can't afford to go there atm
I looked at the menu though....

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 22:26

The boys have Sports Day tomorrow and poor ds2 is terrified he will be disqualified for not being very good at running. Goodness knows where he has got this idea from. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with his running. But he is still worrying.

UnderRated · 23/06/2008 03:55

Hello

You were busy on here this weekend.

OB, hope DD is ok. Your posts made me larf.

Hope Toot's sports day goes well.

I saw Man. He said, "I love you"

Went strawberry picking so think I had about 10 portions while we were there. Nothing else though [shame]

stuffitllama · 23/06/2008 05:17

UR
Toot good luck with sports day and running, I hope he wins everything. No pressure Am sorting out clothes too and was musing on handing on boxer shorts and decided I was going to (except his first pair ) as they are perfect and I've had them handed to me. I mean not the same ones (blithers).
Toot sorry I should know this are you all boys? I have many girls clothes particularly "girly" ones which are virtually unworn due to tomboy nature of dd. (I once sponsored her to wear a skirt OR pink to school for a week.) Do you (anyone) have a girl or a very feminine boy?
I wish I knew what kind of clothes you all liked, I have fancy stuff given to me by my uber groovy older sister which I can't cope with and no point packing it all. Jigsaw tops and stuff.
Anyway fav news not good and have been avoiding the issue but better yesterday with courgette tomatoes red beans white beans nectarine banana broccoli.

UnderRated · 23/06/2008 05:24

No, Stuffit, the correct response is

I don't know what to say to him now

at lovely clothes

UnderRated · 23/06/2008 05:26

That reminds me, my mum recently sent me a couple of pretty tops. They were organic cotton. She was so excited that she had found some "ethically correct" clothes for me

stuffitllama · 23/06/2008 05:28

oh reading reading but slackness means have to go back to other thread!

quelle horreur
