Kale and peas softly with his song - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

pinkspottywellies · 22/06/2008 06:54

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 08:47

strawberry picking day here (well, for the boys. I can't get down there )

am going to eat extra fruity breakfast in celebration and to clear the decks for punnets of strawberries

FK it sounds fab, would love to borrow it. We have hard floors this time which we didn't last time - hadn't really taken this into account until now

.

TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 09:29

Pink I have been up since ridiculous o'clock too. [yawn]

Oooh I quite fancy going strawberry picking - might do that this afternoon.

God I feel like crap today. Something to do with the bottle of wine I drank last night. Bleurghhhhhhhhhhhhhh. A large dose of Kiki Superfood will be sufficient punishment I reckon.

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 09:34

Well, my new carrot seeds have been well rained in

Feeling slightly loose-endish as we were hoping to meet Bero today but she can't make it due to poorly ds and dh

But the sun is out

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 09:36

LOL kiki as punishment
it's a treat surely

I have had one large whole delicious mango
few strawberries
melon
raisins
grapes

delicious

dp says he has found food moths in an unopened packet of muesli as well as the packet he and ds have been eating
bleurgh
he says my oats are ok but of course am feeling about it

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 09:37

oh and orange juice with magic bleeding gum water in
I think that is 6

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 09:41

Such a shame TooT Hope Bero's boys are feeling better soon. Sun out here too. It rained yesterday, pretty much all day.

Franster do you buy muesli, oats etc in paper packets or can the moths get in plasticky type packaging too? We've never had them. I am considering buying oats & flour etc from the local windmill (how utterly poncetastic) but I have a morbid fear of moths etc and they are in paper bags.

TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 09:42

6 already? [awe]

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 09:46

these were in plastic bags Tiger - we buy from Suma
apparently Sainsburys recently had a problem too and had to pull a load of products (I presume some supply chain overlap somewhere, do you remember when there was that hummus problem and ALL the hummus vanished from the shops? It was all being made in Holland or somewhere in the same factory )

we store all our food in tubs and so on since mouse problem, but if the stuff is coming from the supplier with moths already in, we are kind of stuffed. They can't have got IN the plastic packets, they must have them at the suppliers in their storage / packing area

and no I would not buy from somewhere that stored in paper I don't think

Tatties · 22/06/2008 09:46

Morning

FK I get that pre-menstrual cleaning frenzy nesting thing too.

Lully wishing you strength for today.

TooT that's a shame about Bero, will you have another chance to meet up?

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 09:47

yes I think six

1 large mango, half handful strawbs, large handful grapes, handful raisins, massive slice melon, small glass orange juice
is that six?

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 09:49

Franny - the houmous was being made in London by the company I work for - it all got moved to the site I work at, lots of work for me . We make houmous for pretty much all the supermarkets.

Oh yes, Lully's unwelcome visitor . I did roffle at the MIL proof suit

fullmoonfiend · 22/06/2008 09:52

I am pms nesty too Tatties!

gales and rain here And ds wants to go our on a bike ride - help!

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 09:53

oh was it Tiger? I remembered it wrong then
it was a bit odd to realise all these different brands / companies were all coming from the same place
our chain of supply as regards food is a bit odd to say the least

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 10:07

I suppose it doesn't always occur to people that a lot of their stuff comes from the same place... the sort of stuff we do, is different from brand to brand, different recipes and so on. There is a difference between the luxury brand and the value brand, and between Waitrose and Asda for instance. DH works in farming and his company supply brassacas to the masses - no difference whatsoever between a cauli in Asda and one in Waitrose. They may have different size criteria or levels of trimming but the stuff comes out of the same fields.

TigerFeet · 22/06/2008 10:16

We are off to the virus infested swimming pool now.

See ya later fruity bitches

fullmoonfiend · 22/06/2008 10:17

lol dh has drawn short straw is off to the petri dish with boys too

I am supposed to be tidying

TooTicky · 22/06/2008 10:32

Am tidying and sorting - have offered three things on freecycle.
Oh, can anybody use any dear little old-fashioned curtains with animals on? Similar to Molly Brett style but no teddy bears - things like badgers and hedgehogs and mice doing things. We can't use them but feel somebody should be enjoying them

Boco · 22/06/2008 10:33

Bloody hell 6 portions already!

I tried to eat some fresh pineapple but we're all wandering around yowling that our tongues feel shaved.

Had a terrible night with dd who coughed and coughed all night, I gave her my inhaler in the end which seemed to help so now i'm wondering if she's developing asthma. She's had so little sleep that she has that insane high of a 3 year old about to crack.

Toot I have the clothes bundled but will have to send the week after next.

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 11:59

TooT possibly depending on size of curtain, yes please

Boco sorry about bad night I think an inhaler will relieve symptoms by opening airways whether or not asthma is the cause won't it? take care though

boys back with strawberries still warm from the sun, crucnhy broad beans and a big fist of local asparagus
oh god save me from eating pounds of them
why did I have six portions for breakfast?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 22/06/2008 13:03

Oh dear Boco, hope you can all catch up tonight!

Why does pineapple do that to one's mouth? And why does one keep eating it obsessively despite oddness?

Boco, would it be silly for me to send you big girl clothes even though you couldn't use them just yet? You are very welcome to them.

Franny, I will measure curtains.

FrannyandZooey · 22/06/2008 16:23

lunch: spinach, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, broad beans, kidney beans, asparagus

more strawberries

probably another 3 portions in total, maybe 4

have also eaten 2 homemade strawberry cakes, a scone and an ice cream
the shame
