Kale and peas softly with his song - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh Wombling you poor thing
I hope you feel better soon lovely

OOooooooh Franny I am
Have just been watching on You tube
ahhhhhhhhh happy memories
I heart Ivor

UnderRated · 27/06/2008 22:00

Ivor on Youtube is great. Ds would sadly be deprived if it weren't for that. When he's lazy tired, he asks me to feed him "just like Ivor" so I have to do the exact sound Ivor makes while waving a spoon in front of DS's face. It took quite a bit of practise to perfect.

pinkspottywellies · 27/06/2008 22:03

Where are you going on Sunday Franny? I missed that. As I am probably going to miss your labour threads cause I'm down at my mum's for a week and won't be able to MN every day.

taliac · 27/06/2008 22:58

Hullo everyone.

A better stirfry tonight with less burnt bits. Thanks for all the advice.

F&V today a respectable but ultimately under achieving 8.

Lully - re your poor DS! Is he over it or still v sad?

UR - I'm feeling your pain, thats really rotten Pie luck. So KungFuPanda was good? Shall I let my Dh take my panda adoring 2yr old to it? He really wants to take her as her first movie going experience. I don't think she'll last it out myself but there you are..

Franny and FMF - I completely and utterly love the songs.

TooTicky · 27/06/2008 23:12

MrsC, sorry your appointment was grotty

Lully, your poor ds! That is completely unacceptable
I haVE THE URGE TO PICK THE MOTHER AND TEACHERS UP BY THEIR FEET AND shake them. Sorry for caps.

wOMBLING, HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER VERY SOON. tRY EATING LOTS OF FRUIT AND veg, it is supposed to be good.

Ah, the Beros....
Berolina is lovely and very easy to be at ease with. Her dh is very blonde and sweet, obviously a lovely father. And Bero a wonderful mother of course. And the little boys are just adorable. Larger boy was very shy indeed at first but ds2 took him upstairs and soon had him giggling. Ds2 took smaller boy in hand too and let him bite his nose and pull his hair
Lovely lovely people

TooTicky · 27/06/2008 23:14

Sorry, that was a badly written post. In my defence, I am very tired.

FrayedKnot · 27/06/2008 23:17

Glad the stir fry was more successful Taliac

DS has seen the posters for Kung-Fu panda and thinks it looks funny, but I'm not that keen to take him to the ciema yet. maybe next year (he's 4.5). He does watch dvds at home but I have found proper films are still too much for him at the moment. He watched Shrek and was pretty scared of the dragon, etc.

Oh yes, f&v

UnderRated · 28/06/2008 00:03

Kung-Fu Panda might be a bit long and involved for a 2 yr old. I don't think I'd take DS yet. But he has the attention span of a small flea. I know plenty of 2 yr olds who go to the cinema and sit through a film.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 08:54

here you go Pink
or rather here I go (hopefully)

it is flower show today inc lettuce, cress, and painted flower pot competitions
ds very excited and I must admit I am too
I don't expect he will win but part of me kind of thinks he might, due to spectacular lack of entrants if like last year, rather than superlative qualty of our produce

which is rubbish tbh
the cress head has gone berserk and looks like Bob Smith or possibly Worzel Gummidge

and our last sunflower (this was the replacement batch to start with, as first ones all got eaten) has just bitten the dust, so no sunflowers this year

I've got 20 mins to decide whether to bid and it's gone up by another 1000, aaaarrghhhh.

What to do, what to do

it's big, it's clumpy, but we would have it for next week...

I've tossed so many coins that to buy or not to buy has evened out.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 10:26

just can't help you there Loopy
my cautious side is saying if you are really not sure, maybe best to leave it....?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 28/06/2008 10:33

MrsC, I'd be cautious too. You thought it dark and heavy, didn't you? And then there's the possibly undesirable loo...

Tatties · 28/06/2008 11:14

Hello everyone, just trying to catch up...

MrsC I am so sorry you had such a dreadful time yesterday. You seem to have had some spectacularly insensitive people 'looking after' you

Lully poor poor ds

TooT glad you had a lovely time with the Beros!

Morning

Good luck to Franny's DS at the Flower & Veg Show

FMF should have a medal for veg related activities so early in the morning, I think

Loopy - I think I would have quite a look aorund if it were me, I think. We're not helping much with this, are we

I have done some housework this morning and found two snack bowls that DS had left in various tucked away places, one had a large veg box strawberry in it that had been gently ripening in the sun since yesterday...gosh it was lovely

Have come to the conclusion that I don;t fancy fruit much becuase supermarket fruit doesn;t actually taste of anything.

Veg box strawbs are superb. I think I may have to potter over to the farm shop this afternoon and buy more.

Avi sorry you ahve another headache. Mine are not usually disabling but just make me tired and grumpy, and not feel like doing anything except lying down with my eyes closed.

Guadalupe · 28/06/2008 12:59

oh, god, life is never relaxing here!

We were still tossing coins and looking at other vans with three mins to go and ds1 was saying get it and dh was saying he liked driving it and I quite liked it but still maybe a better one would come

then there were 40 secs left and I said 'go on then and we can go next week' so dh raced upstairs and he started shouting as ds1 had logged him off so I quickly pressed place bid on my laptop and the page took ages to refresh and when it did bidding was finished and I looked at the winning bidder

and it was dh , in the last three seconds!!

So, now we have a van and I need to grovel to my mother to re-upholster for a fee and we have to put seatbelts in the back and have it re-sprayed.

Sorry to have bored you all with it. At least we are likely to be able to resell easily like FMV says if it turns out not to be the right one. All the money is in a brown envelope. It is SCAREY.

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 13:00

god warm strawberries are just unbelievable nectar aren't they FK

right after brief tussle with the DVD box during which I doubted I had any motor skills left at all, I have watched the DVD of how to wear my new sling
it is marvellous and much better than I could have hoped - I did not realise that by wearing it, dp and I would be transformed into beautiful mixed race couple strolling in carefree way along the beach, and that I would be doing yoga with my six pack belly exposed even though I have just had a baby

I think I have got it (though can only just tie with vast stomach in way) - has anyone used a Calin Bleu? does this tie the same way as a standard wrap? the one I just learnt to use was the Hug a Bub - it seems excellent for work, but the Calin Bleu is going to be less hot for when the baby is first born, so I hope it works on more or less the same principle

oh flipping HECK MrsC what a tale!
I was just about to post "I presume as we have not heard that you are not buying the camper"
oh well how cool
I think you have some legal comeback if it turns out dreadful, under the lemon laws, anyway, am I right? I don't think the auto auctions are legally binding in the same way that other auctions are on eBay, for this reason, but please check before you quote me on this
