For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

IT IS QUITE EXCITING, oops sorry caps

but I want it to look nice RIGHT NOW

where would you get seatbelts fitted anyway, any garage?

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 13:13

we had to go to VW garage for ours
we couldn't get as many fitted as we would have liked, tbh, it was a bit tricky as they are not really designed to have a belt in each seat. We had to compromise with a couple of lap belts IIRC

OP posts:
Boco · 28/06/2008 13:15

Wow Guad that's brilliant!

Guadalupe · 28/06/2008 13:18

hmm, lap belts not really that safe for dcs are they?

have just rung vw garage and they closed at 12.30

the likelihood of getting them fitted ready to go monday tea-time is quite slim I think

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 13:20

no we had to put ds in the front which was obviously not ideal
ours was a 70s model though, I am sure yours will be much more amenable
I would try an ordinary garage, as more modern van they may be able to fit standard belts easily?

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 28/06/2008 13:32

well, ds2 will have to go in the front at the moment, and if we can't get the back belt fitted by monday a very kind friend will bring dcs in exchange for some fish and chips by the marsh.

Dh said, well, we could just drive slowly

Guadalupe · 28/06/2008 13:33

and again

I do wonder about him sometimes

littlerach · 28/06/2008 14:16

How exciting.

Have been to the market and bought the biggest box of cherries known to mankind.
I htink dd2 would fit in it.

How many cherries could I eat before having a bad stomach.
(Have already consumed 2 dessert bowls...)

MrsC, you got the van YAY

Franny, what a marvellous sling

I am going to a kids party now. Another one. I don't really want to go. The invitation said No gifts, so I am not taking one and also, 'if you want to contribute something, how about food? Think guacamole and dip' so I am ignoring that. Am I being a terrible guest? And awfully mean?

Off to see Man later. He mentioned maybe going to a Benefit and wearing something elegant but a) I wasn't paying attention and b) I don't have anything elegant to wear and c) I was thinking about not seeing him any more.

Banana. Lots of blueberries.

Habbibu · 28/06/2008 15:31

OK - here I am - the black sheep/prodigal Hab of 10/10. Need a kick up the arse - have a 6 month period in which I need to get really quite healthy, so you all have my permission to chase me all over MN telling me to piss off and exercise/eat fruit/ Please?

UnderRated · 28/06/2008 15:33

I'm on your tale, Habbibu

Habbibu · 28/06/2008 15:38

Thank you (I think, could live to regret this). This thread is spooky - gently chased her by avi, since which i have eaten a pear, a handful of raspberries and 5 strawberries. and put a wash on. Did walk up from beach, all round town and back to beach today with dd in buggy, and there's some serious uphill in there.

filthymindedbolshevixen · 28/06/2008 17:05

oh wow aboy van MrsC - I am very excited for you - you'll love camper vans!

Have spent a interminable day trekking round the railway museum in an attemtp to be a good mum (They have been attention-neglected recently due to stress)

Bear in mind we have been at least 5 times a year for the past 10 years, and you will see why my enthusiasm has waned rather....and although it is free entry, everything therein in designed to grab your money and bleed you dry.

Boco · 28/06/2008 17:20

Good duty work Filthy, well done.

Am going to a black tie garden party tonight. A very posh neighbour two doors away - our bedroom window overlooks his garden and it's filled with 3 giant white marquees. There will be 'entertainment'. Thought I'd go as it'll be fun seeing all the village folk in black tie. He's nice this man, lives on his own and throws amazing two day parties every year. It's a hog roast all day tomorrow.

filthymindedbolshevixen · 28/06/2008 17:35

oh boco that sounds amazing! Though I suspect I'd enjoy the hog roasty day thing better...

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 17:39

gosh everyone is doing lots of stuff
I think the van is going to be fab MrsC. You'll sort something out with seatbelts.

have been to flower show
guess what, ds was sole entrant and so triumphant winner of both children's categories he entered
however he had some stuff competition (ie one other entrant) in the lettuce category which was an adult category this year
his lettuces were about 2 inches tall and the other person's were nice long impressive ones
so they made a special junior category for ds so he won first prize in that as well

we have to go back tomorrow for prize giving aaargh can we fit it in with Ivor
the roses and flowers were beautiful but the whole show is very under attended by competitors
the 10 / 10ers could have cleaned up there today, there were all sorts of things we could have won
next year nag me to do some photos and some cheese scones, I would have been in with a chance at least

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 17:39

stiff competition

OP posts:
BettyLupton · 28/06/2008 17:44

aw bless your ds franny

I am horrifically competitive when it comes to stuff like that....
But I keep missing our local ones. I once won 'best novice entrant' for potatoes and runner beans (and yes, there were more than one entry, actually!) and I came second for my shortbread - I lost to a woman who wins everything for baking, so that was ok.
And ds won 2nd prize for a nature pic. 1st prize was won by a 12 year old...
great fun!

BettyLupton · 28/06/2008 17:45

Thoughtof you at railway musuem franny, the shop was packed full of Ivor the engine stuff and I was so sad that all this stuff wasn't available when mine were train mad - lovely Idris red dragon toys......

BettyLupton · 28/06/2008 17:46

(shit, it's fumph here, was posting on a local thread)

FrannyandZooey · 28/06/2008 17:58

well it is terribly tempting to just go bonkers and enter EVERYTHING (except eg roses which seems frightfully competitive and which I could never grow anyway)
so many categories have just one entrant and you look and think 'well I could have a GO'
and the prizes are things like £25!
