For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello
Vans sound excellent Guado, so much nicer for camping. I don't really like tents. Am jealous of friends and their camper vans for Latitude.

Have had a busy nice day, went out with friends for the day, and then to the school fair, been nice spending the whole day outside.

LullyOfShallot · 26/06/2008 20:18

Fmv
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr todh
there is always the old toothbrush/loo standby

does wonders for my bad moods

LullyOfShallot · 26/06/2008 20:21

Van sounds wonderful...but hate chemical loos
interior would be my first train of thought too
We stayed in a wonderful 1950's design one in I.O.W a few years ago..
I dont really do tents..unless they are the FeatherdownFarm sort

UnderRated · 26/06/2008 20:22

Lully, that looks lovely.

ExH once used a toothbrush that I had used to clean the loo. I took great delight in telling him so I'm not normally so mean but it served him right. It was after he moved out so he shouldn't have been cleaning his teeth at my house anyway.

TigerFeet · 26/06/2008 20:37

Moony I read your post as "a slow death revolving onions..." and pictured you sticking your dh on one of those Kebab jobbies and spit roasting him . Not an unsuitable punishment imvho.

2 satsumas, apple, veg soup, risotto inc onions mushrooms peas aplenty.

I am feeling rather buoyant this evening. Goddam gall bladder is making its presence felt but otherwise I am feeling energetic. I might even get my stepper thingy out and bob up and down on it for a bit [hunts out ubersportsbra]

Hurrah for UR's exH cleaning his teeth with a bog brush

UnderRated · 26/06/2008 20:55

I'm nice really. Honest!

Steppy thingy sounds like hard work. I'm too hot for that kind of thing. I will go for a brisk walk later.

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 21:22

the hotel looks nice
rooms are a bit small I think? but that's usual in London I guess

look where we are hoping to go if I am still mobile on Sunday: ooooooooooooooh

I missed it last year through being ill - wish me luck this time

dried fruit in breakie museli, banana bread (it was homemade surely that counts!),
lettuce, tomato, cucumber, beansprouts, peppers salad
broccoli, onion, pepper, courgette and carrot in stirfry
I reckon in actual portions its prob 8 so far.

So now I could go and eat some fruit and bring it up to the ten but I'm rather miserable about how bad my stir fry was and so I may have to eat Rocky Road instead.

Why oh why can't I stir fry?? I follow recipes, I understand the principle, I just cant do it! I can bake, I can do roasts, I can make risotto ffs, but I have this stir fry blind spot. Its very annoying.

Sorry rant over. Hope you are all well.

Hotel looks lovely Lully. Have you checked it out on trip advisor?

FrayedKnot · 26/06/2008 21:27

I love Ivor

At last my cache is clear, and I am no longer stuck at 9.22pm on Sunday

You have to have your pan very hot to stir fry, Talilac

Do you use a wok?

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 21:27

I can't stir fry either talila
I get dp to do it
he says: don't whop everything in at the same time, ie put things that will take longer in first, or even separately
I am trying to get him to elaborate but he says that is it

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 26/06/2008 21:34

Oh no, I whop...

I don;t use a wok, either

taliac · 26/06/2008 21:36

No I don't really have storage for a wok (small kitchen), so I use a frying pan.

I do have the pan hot, but then I always burn the first things that go in, like the garlic by the time the other veggies have cooked.

Maybe separately is the key..

FrayedKnot · 26/06/2008 21:43

Are you making your own stir fry sauce? If so put the garlic in that, don;t fry it as such.

My method is heat oil in pan
Bung veggies in
Stir around
Add sauce fairly quickly
Turn heat down a little and give frequent stirs but not constant

taliac · 26/06/2008 21:46

Okay will try that tomorrow. Thanks both... x

UnderRated · 26/06/2008 23:40

Blueberries (4 - I think more like 5 but that sounded super-greedy)
Bananas (3.5)
Mixed beans (1 or 2)
Raspberries (1) From the garden

9

And it's only 5:30 so time for an apple or something later too. Yippeeee!

stuffitllama · 27/06/2008 09:03

TigerFeet · 27/06/2008 09:13

Morning veggers

taliac - I find that adding a smidge of water if things are starting to burn works well. I do onions & garlic together on a not so high heat, then add mushrooms, cook a bit, turn up heat, add everything else. Tis far easier in a wok though - we have a small kitchen and the wok lives on top of one of the cupboards.

Nowt so far but i have parsnip soup, 2 satsumas and some fruit salad to eat through the day.

I didn't get my steppy thing out last night in the end [lazy]. I was going to get up early this morning but dd woke up about 6 times in the night so it was very much a case of levering myself out of bed at the absolute last minute this morning

filthymindedbolshevixen · 27/06/2008 09:21

lol at all your horrible punishments.
DH asked me what was up so I told him and he was very contrite so no need for the use of triceratops this time...

People are dropping out of the children's entertainments team for festival left right and centre. At this rate will just be 4 of us

And the forecast is not good.

I am hopig tonight's face painting at school is cancelled as the forscast fr this weekend is pants too...

Tatties · 27/06/2008 09:44

Oh no is the forecast bad again this weekend? [grr]

Morning all

TigerFeet · 27/06/2008 10:03

Forecast OK here - cloudy but not cold or raining.

I am thinking of something nice to do tomorrow - it's dd's birthday next week and tomorrow is the only day for ages that all three of us have nothing booked for so I'm hoping we can go out for the day together. Have no idea where though [dons thinking cap]

fryalot · 27/06/2008 10:11
