For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

unheard of

UnderRated · 26/06/2008 18:50

Your freezer sounds delicious, Franny

I am eating the best blueberries ever. I will easily make it to 10 today. It's ok if it's all one type of fruit isn't it?

I am having second thoughts about cooked strawberries - will they be a bit slug-like, in texture? Should I jsut make a rhubarb tart and have it with fresh strawberries?

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 18:55

well when you said cooked strawberries I did think UR i must admit
but I don't think you can really improve on a fresh strawberry, they don#t need fannying around with

Lully I am excited about the bag thank you very much indeed. was there a link for the hotel?

LOL @ something gourdy

OK, just rhubarb then and fresh strawberries on top. And cream, perhaps.

Something gourdy

filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 19:10

hello Swedes!

In the light of my stressed stressed stressed post yesterday, I may have to kill dh.
Tonight I have cooked kids tea, been to allotment for veg, done on-line shop, sorted out beach gear for ds for some school thing tomorrow, sewed 7 bags up for bag decorating activity at festival and gone into kitchen to cook our supper. I am due out for a meeting at 8pm. DH lugs his lardy arse offa computer, saunters into kitchen and when I swore as I couldn't light cooker said: ''blardy hell moons, calm down dear....you seem a bit tetchy...!!

[emotions fails me]

Seriously he is dicing with death. A slow death involving raw onions, and semi-cooked parnsips.

Guadalupe · 26/06/2008 19:12

The van was good but aesthetically displeasing and very heavy. Dh says a honking great diesal van is going to be heavy and that's that.

I have mentally re-sprayed, torn out carpets and thought of re-upholstering that goes nicely with the new paintwork and dh fell about laughing at the thought of my priorities.

Well, it is a priority, no? He can see how it goes and I can see if I want to sit in it.

I have started a thread but I cannot decide between this one that is local and has a loo, or one in Devon that has no loo and the back door opens making it lighter and more spacious.

filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 19:14

er, we got rid of loo in our camper as we figured either we'd be camping in places where therte were loos or....it'd be remote enough to er...

The extra space was really really useful.

And you have to think about emptying of cheical loos

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 19:16

LOL dp and the man we bought our van from had a lovely time mocking me
I kept saying "can you clean it a bit? can you paint the cupboards?"

but when it was finally delivered all primped up I was the one who found the bit of paper sitting next to the engine that was making the vile burning smell

while they sat there rolling their eyes and going "tch - that's what they smell like, these VWs"

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 19:17

I agree with FMF - chemical loos pretty vile

OP posts:
UnderRated · 26/06/2008 19:17

I wouldn't bother semi-cooking those parsnips, FMF. I think raw ones will be perfect for the job.

Is Devon far from you, MrsC. I think I'd like the back door more than a loo but I am happy with fairly basic camping. I think repsraying and upholstering is a priority

filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 19:18

ok, while I do love talking camper vans, I really need to to tsk at dh for me, and say there, there you poor stressed out little hippy, you...''

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 19:19

oh sorry FMF
he's a shocker
put a plastic owl in his bed (my most severe spousal punishment)

OP posts:
filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 19:20

I only have plastic dinosaurs...

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 19:21

stegosaurus or triceratops both quite pointy

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 26/06/2008 19:21

yes, I know

I've never had a loo before when camping, but it was convenient (scuse pun) last weekend and well, I just don't know really. There are times it would be useful. It's also a shower room with HOT WATER

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 19:21

ankylosaurus particularly nasty if rolled upon

OP posts:
filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 19:25

dear lords, that sounds suspiciously like a motorhome

stuffitllama · 26/06/2008 19:28

lololol at steg and tricy as bedtime punishments
very
I agree re chemical loos. there aren't many places you can't wee in comfort, and if you are in one of them, no one else will be, so it's fine.
we dh emptied our chemical loo once and then dh got very stern and said NO MORE and put a lot of mops and things in there so that we couldn't if we wanted to

Guadalupe · 26/06/2008 19:29

fear not, it is very much a camper, it just has this odd shower/loo cubicle in the back where the doors would open.

Is quite similar to a transit in shape, like a large fixed-roof type 25 vw

TooTicky · 26/06/2008 20:10

Borrowed an extra baby this afternoon.
Should be making cake and tidying because Bero and family are coming tomorrow but dd2 has just fallen asleep in my lap.
I am too tired to function properly. Am at that stage where it takes several minutes of standing in the kitchen, racking brains and rotating slowly to work out why I am there. Only to forget a moment later.
I am definitely f&v deficient.

Fmf, try small metal aeroplanes on the floor just where he steps out of bed.

TooTicky · 26/06/2008 20:12

MrsC, the loo does sound like a liability. And a heavier van will be more expensive to run.

UnderRated · 26/06/2008 20:15

OH Toot, hope you get some sleep. I was wondering about Bero. I emailed her last night. Hope she is ok. Have fun.
