For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

your list of things to do is unbelievable
unbelievable
have you got lots of lists

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 08:56

good stuff FMF, keep on swimming (haven't seen film but I can imagine)

the thing is with ds I think when you are 5 it is not a good idea to have constant rudeness and stroppiness ignored
perhaps I am wrong but I think it really would be a mistake at this point
I would like to see Alfie ruddy Kohn 39 weeks pg and coping with a teenager in a 5 year old's body anyway

Guadalupe · 26/06/2008 09:05

we are going to look at a campervan this morning, FMV.

If it drives well and there is 8 months MOT would you be happy that the engine was good even if you weren't taking anyone who knows more about it?

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 09:06

no eggs in the house
I've ordered a giant online shop to come tonight
the ebil supermarkets have certainly got their claws back into us again
thing is you have to be reasonably able bodied to do the market thing, I find, and greengrocers are shut in evening when dp can do shopping
anyway hopefully last big shop before you know who arrives
dp will need therapy when he sees what I have ordered [nesting] [hungry]

Loopy sorry to butt in but basically NO I would really take someone who knows what they are looking at

campers are such a very sensitive and truculent bunch IME

here you are, Franny

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 09:09

ooh you buggers
no eggs till between 6 and 7 pm tonight

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 26/06/2008 09:10

yes, you are right, dh is going to look at it and I said I'd go too

thing is we don't really know anyone who can drive out there in the day and look at it and this man can only do morning visits as he works shifts

it is a fairly new one camper wise 1992

filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 09:32

oh that sounds very exciting! What sort is it? (Ie campervan or, motorhome)

Generally, they are built to last, so 1992 sounds good.
The main thing to think about is the make. If it is an obscure one, will there be anyone local who can fix it/service it? Our was a ford transit fan converted, which was fab as every mechanic in the world knows how to fix a ford tranny IFSWIM.
Elderly VWs tend to need more specialist (ie expensive) parts.
And so on....

Guadalupe · 26/06/2008 09:34

it's a volkswagon lt35 so quite similar in shape to a transit

I think it's a fairly common commercial vehicle, will check with dh

going to look in a but, I feel nervous!

filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 09:37

good luck, the thing is, now you're on a mission. iF THIS ONE IS NO GOOD, YOU WILL NOT REST UNTIL YOU FIND ONE!

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 11:05

banana and peanut butter sandwich
orange juice

= 7 so far

Loopy I hope it turns out to be fab. It sounds great!

I have a very difficult ds atm too... Franny and Wombling you have my sympathy. I was in tears doing the dishes yesterday - sometimes it just feels like a constant battle from the second he gets up in the morning, and I just don't know what to do. I am tired and have a lot on so I know that must be affecting him and my ability to cope. I am not happy though as I am doing loads of things I didn't want to do and I am not being as patient and calm as I want to be.

Franny I would say the Wiki pics aren't definitive. Obviously I don't know whether what your ds has is molluscum or not, but IME, they aren't necessarily as big as the ones in the pictures, and the white bit in the middle sounds characteristic to me.

It is pouring (not nice rain) and I need to go out. Ugh.

stuffitllama · 26/06/2008 12:47

does this work

stuffitllama · 26/06/2008 12:48

in my review of health pages i found the above

I think it's ludicrous and i haven't even read it properly

back later for full dismantlement if anyone's interested

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 13:01

yup I think high fructose corn syrup is widely believed to be nasty stuff which does indeed make you fat
is in loads of junk foods especially soft drinks

however you have to read to the end to get to the crux of it:

"'It adds to what we have known for a long time.
'It's probably not a good idea to consume too much sugar.'
Experts point out that this does not mean we should stop eating fruit.
Fresh fruit contains relatively low levels of fructose - and the risks are outweighed by health benefits. "

no shit. So why use the headline "Can fruit make you fat?"

OP posts:
filthymindedbolshevixen · 26/06/2008 13:02

oh loook The study (claiming fruit might make you fat) was sponsored by Pepsico.....no agenda there, then

And in The Daily Mail too!! Who'da thought it....

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 13:03

I have had a nap again and two lots of lunch, a pre-nap lunch and a post-nap lunch, neither containing f+v. I am starting to feel like a round hibernating mammal. It's very odd.

ds out with Another Kind Friend. Back soon. I will try very hard to have a good afternoon and not shout and Do Activities and not let him get bored and grumpy

I like to think the time will come when I will post without having to qualify my presence, like this:

Am on a lunch break holiday.

Shall I read thread? How long will it take? Are you all well?

[eats sandwich]

ahundredtimes · 26/06/2008 13:07

Am skimming. Am going tsk tsk tsk like this, about veruccas and Boco's dd. Am coming over all Anne like.

Sending you all love.

FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 13:09

we don't want you to work, we want you to come and play with us
so you don't need to justify your presence at all, we'll never mention that dirty 'W' word

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 26/06/2008 13:10

plus can you mentally delete any bits that are me whinging
and substitute something about me leaping around in a bloom of joy and health

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 26/06/2008 13:13

How are you Fra? I might have to skim some more. It's quite annoying turning up and asking questions. I should read the thread.

I have little to report, except quite a lot of fruit. I am in my cupboard too much and becoming positively unbalanced and weird when I go out into society.

The other night I told TWO men off. I told one of them to stop infantalizing himself by pretending to be jealous of his son being breastfed by his wife and another man said his wife didn't 'suck cock' and I said HOW DARE YOU! That is so disrespectful and wrong. There's nothing she can say to that. How DARE YOU.

And dh said 'Right, shall we go home now?'

Mad, I tell you. Mad.
