For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Avi, our stuff toys are a puppy named Puppy, a bear named Bear, and elephant named Elephant... you get the picture

I will try being an elephant or giraffe next time. It can't be more embarrassing than walking down the street with a screaming, head-butting 3 yr old, can it?

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2008 20:27

oh god yes, getting nearly 3 year olds to do things
oh dear well it is terrible isn't it
I hated this bit tbh
I think roleplay and humour are your weapons, viz: let's see if we can march down the street like the people we saw in the band yesterday
or
have your ears fallen off? let me look (tickling etc) no they seem to be alright
perhaps it's your brain? (peer up nose) no that is still there also, so I am sure you will come over here RIGHT AWAY next time I ask you to

and the dog thing is inspired
what is it with pretending to be a dog? my god they love it
when does it wear off? ds would happily do it all day and will walk down the street on all fours if allowed

toot already said all that more concisely
I think picking up and going is not the worst crime in the world, myself, when you've had enough
they get ruddy cross whatever you do, so you might as well get things your way some of the time

Avi I expect you were Lurking for Lent

UR, i made a strawberry pie a few months ago (with rhubarb) but they were tinned... obv... it was only Feb and we are serious seasonal eaters.

HAHAHAAAH as if. But they were tinned.

V easy recipe if you want it.

Lully - the thing I find with nut roast is to bung in some grated apple. All recipes I have tried have been ok, until you add the magic apple and then they grow wings and start singing the Hallelujah Chorus. Which is Handel for you uncultured weirdos. (hur hur, i know that's unlikely on here)

DD's pox of the fowl... tried the oats thing. Maybe not a bath of porridge next time. Angry baby.

I'm going to hold off on talking about MIL's as I am in the middle of some sort of Eastenders style episode with DH and his 'ma'. Hopefully there will be no gun shots fired in St Pauls. Actualy, there are always gun shots in St Pauls.....

whispers to F&Z.... can I apologise for my behaviour last week or whenever it was? I had a little too much sun, a little too much beer and way too much DIY. I got carried away by my own mirth. Or lack thereof.

Brilliant thread Franny! Gosh you really don't look pregnant from behind!! Now long now

TooT hope sports day isn't too traumatic.

Tatties I have sent you something that I was meant to send ages ago (well it's ready to post tomorrow) sorry for delay.

Lully, glad you survived yesterday!

UnderRated · 23/06/2008 20:52

Ok, must remember to keep sense of humour in a crisis. I like marching etc. Will do that. Hopefully when people see DS, they will realise I am just being a Good Parent, not a total loon.

Recipe please, OB. Especially if it is easy. We are having a picnic on Friday and I need to make something for pudding. I think strawberry pie will be good.

It turns out my Pete Doherty red eyelid look may be down to a nail polish allergy Apparently I can still paint my toenails, as long as I don't scratch my eyes with them

FrayedKnot · 23/06/2008 21:04

Hello lovely veggers

Strawbs, rasps, carrots, baby corn, celery, courgette, nectarine.

I could be doing a lot better

FrayedKnot · 23/06/2008 21:07

Something weird is happening tonight.

Every time I open this (and other) threads, they look like the last time I looked at them. I have to actively click refresh to see todays posts. Very odd.

TigerFeet · 23/06/2008 21:07

Pink you are looking decidedly undernourished. Is that a trace of scurvy I see about your gills? Eat an apple woman

No biting your toenails then UR..

Avi you may well be right about the work butties. I have got some broccoli soup out of the freezer for lunches for the next couple of days.

Oh dear OB I'm sorry the bath of oats didn't work

OsmosisBanana · 23/06/2008 21:08

when do you need recipe UR? need to look. won't be hard.

TigerFeet · 23/06/2008 21:09

FK you need to clear your cache lovey Then set your internet options to load the newest version of each page. My pooter does this from time time to time - not sure why it resets itself, the gremlins like to torment I reckon

OsmosisBanana · 23/06/2008 21:13

no no TF. I'm sure it would have worked. I think t'was my method.

UnderRated · 23/06/2008 21:14

If you can find it before Thurs, that's be great. No huge rush. Thanks OB

Whilst we're talking tech stuff, does anyone know why my laptop is shutting down for no apparent reason? I don't have a virus or anything and the fan is clean.

stuffitllama · 23/06/2008 21:16

hello all, have eaten ahem f and v which is why i keep falling asleep at 8.30 and waking up at 3am

how is everyone, Fran you seem to have so much more energy, is this true or a facade

ob is your dd still suffering horribly? oats was all i would have suggested.. but never had it combined with exceme that must be very difficult

stuffitllama · 23/06/2008 21:17

OsmosisBanana · 23/06/2008 21:19

tell tell tell tell tell

UnderRated · 23/06/2008 21:19

I love a good poo story, Stuffit

stuffitllama · 23/06/2008 21:20

UR when I was skimming I thought that was your list of consumed! nearly fainted

how did the sports day go.. shall read back more

do you have masses of handmedowns then Toot already
I really really don't want to hit miniskirt stage
our girls are the same.. would yours be going up to secondary this autumn

stuffitllama · 23/06/2008 21:24

ok
i was out for a walk with eldest boy on a frosty day
he suddenly said oh look at that ..you couldn't tell what it was because it was a beautiful frosty day
and before i clicked what it was -- he stuck his finger right in it right through the frost

so ..we were at the start of the walk and out for an hour or so
I had no baby wipes (crap mum)
he had a finger sucking habit
i couldn't be sure of getting all the germs off the finger if I wiped on dry clothes
and I couldn't take the risk of him sucking his finger inadvertently over the next hour plus
so I wiped it then sucked it for him very thoroughly

i was ill for two days

forgive me for ruining your evenings

stuffitllama · 23/06/2008 21:25

he was a toddler btw he doesn't do it anymore (and neither do i)

OsmosisBanana · 23/06/2008 21:27

warning - shameless West country meet up promoting...

TooT - any further plans? Still happening?

I am still looking for 'things to do'

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
erased the whole fucking lot.

Is Slimbridge Wetlnds thing too far?

I hear Noah's Ark ok too?

Or... Ashton Court Estate is in the same neck of the woods, with decentish country pubs for lunch or we can just picnic if nice weather?

I am a very competitive over caterer. And have been known to make non animal based food stuffs when necessary.

Maybe I'll just email TooT. Just wanted to spur on any waivering types.

OR...... You can come and laugh at my half a house, and go to the olive shed.

TigerFeet · 23/06/2008 21:30

Oh dear stuffit [stifles giggle] oh dear oh dear

UR my not at all professional diagnosis of the problem with your laptop is that it is buggered. It could be a lot worse. If it were fucked, you'd need a new one.

OsmosisBanana · 23/06/2008 21:30

OMFG Stuffit! I loves you. I thought i was the only one with such scatalogical tales.

Joke.

I sometimes wonder where the smell of shit is coming from that has been following me round all day. Must cut my fingernails more often.

I should point out DD is still in nappies. I don't scratch my own poo out with a fingernail.

Have I gone too far again??? [fearful]
