Cantaloupe, cantaloupe! Will you eat the bad mango? - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Mars - we ate some pretty fine lemon cake yesterday, apparently it's a mumsnetter recipe..

Lully - why are you waiting for your dh?

I have a brief hour of peace and then we must go to this family day at thr local park, ds1 is doing some football thing there. I'm sure it will be nice, stalls and shows and so on. Nice community thing. Still, it is a city park. I doubt there will be 1950's slides or chickens for that matter.

Boco · 15/06/2008 11:22

I'm not sure I did it justice actually - not sure it's supposed to have the consistency of a brick.

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 11:27

I had that poster too, Lully, I believe I used to gaze at it and quote Tennyson wistfully with
long hennaed hair at some point in my teens. I was prone to melodrama though.

In fact I had loads of those posters, nymphs and hair and pert breasts all over the place. I especially liked the one with the man leaning over the lake with them all in. Which one was that?

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 11:32

maybe I should have added a in there. Nah. I don't care.

Boco - it was not the consistency of a brick!! It was dense and sweet and lemony, exactly how it was supposed to be. I might try and make it actually.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 11:33

it was a very moist brick Boco

I like Flaming June
I feel like that right now except fatter, and without such a good frock

we are going to sail the pirate ship in a bit
ooooh

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 11:39

ha ha, funny you say that. In the funny 'sections' thread, someone said but shouldn't you be in fruit and veg rather than geographical?

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 11:44

hah

oh dear next door having huge ruck
this happens quite a lot but they don't normally do it while standing in the garden and shout 'get off your lazy arse' when ds is playing 4 foot away

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 11:45

I don't know why you are geographical
I just think Guadalupe is a Spanish name, I am sure it is in Love and Rockets

Guadalupe is a fruit - they're like dates.

I had a Klimt thing....I had a whole wall in his honour

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 11:46

Hylas and the Nymphs Sigh. I looked at this one a lot.

Boco · 15/06/2008 11:46

It's also a little island, and a virgin.

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 11:46

Ha franny
I pity our neighbours of late

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 11:47

Ooooooooh mrs C...I had that in the bathroom of my first flat

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 11:47

I didn't know it was a fruit?

I thought it was an island and 'our lady of'...

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 11:48

but the lady on the funny thread was thinking of cantaloupe not the date things

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 11:49

If dh doesn't hurry up we will miss our booking
It's at least a 45 min drive & we booked for 12.30

ds is climbing the walls & asking for a sandwich & I may have to start on dh's gooseberry & elderflower cake

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 11:52

I always fancied myself as the fresh young nypmh at the front but was aware that in reality I was likely to be the darker looking on from a distance slightly grumpy one at the back.

Lol - I was quite a grumpy teenager. Not everyone was though were they? I knew some very jolly perky people. I was prone to melancholia.

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 11:53

can you get a taxi there and leave a note for him to come and meet you?

very annoying that he hasn't let you know

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 11:55

look here is the Guadalupe I know
from the Hernandez Bros comics

I was miserable as fuck
I'm sorry but I think anyone who was a perky teenager must have been Very Shallow

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 11:55

I don't know those comics, Franny, seems like there are many Guadalupes around. It has grown on me I must say. I thought it very ugly and clumpy at first.

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 12:04

cant...no car unfortunately
