For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 18:21

lol stuffit

Oh Dave sounds like my sort of guy..utterly marvellous
that's what we need..heroics

Well,we made it to lunch without murdering each other & they were reasonably understanding about our huge lateness..meal was nice but had to argue with three different members of staff before they would agree to let ds have something from the normal menu & not the crap & chips menu

gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 18:23

Oh & dessert was dire...I dont think I have ever, ever complained about a pudding...but the selection was all pastry involved & the chef obviously couldn't make pastry

They were probably very glad to see the back of me & my goats cheese eating boy

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 18:40

at least you have your elderflower wotsit to eat now you're home. That sounds delicious.

BBBee · 15/06/2008 18:46

elderflower wotsits standards are slipping. I feel a boot camp a-coming.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 18:47

Lully glad you at least got fed

Bee well if you are making the children's lunches you really should be able to make your own as well
if you really truly can't then supermarkets sell loads of pre-prepared fruit these days and I reckon you could do more than an apple
how about a banana and some nice melon and a smoothie or juice and a packet of nuts and raisins? i know it is a bit more pricey
which is why you should make your own - it'll take about 5 mins the night before to wash some grapes or something and put in a tub, and you will feel so virtuous

oh M+S do carrots / celery type sticks with a dip, in a little pot, and good salads with actual vegetables in them, if you can get to an M+S
or do your own, in an old tub from pate or something

oh dp makes up his own bags of nuts and dried fruit to take to work each day
he buys big sacks from suma and weighs out 5 little bags on Sunday nights to take with him each day
it's cute

Goodness, lots of Pre-Raphaelite tendencies on here.

Hurrah for Brave Dave.

berolina · 15/06/2008 19:14

evening all.

we have just had potatoes in their skins, stir fry of homegrown sugarsnap peas, homegrown green pepper, mushrooms, carrot and sweet potato, and homemade tomato 'salsa' with no spices, but homegrown thyme in. I was creative director , dh cooked.

dses and I are flying at a very early hour to my parents tomorrow. I don't really talk about the situation on here any more but pleeeease send me vibes that I will be calm and proud and full of integrity and feel okay about who I am and the life I have and the dh I have and the things we are working towards and that we want good things and are doing good things, and not be drawn into going all defensive and inadequate due to the (not utterly off-the-wall!) untypicalness of our life, and not be drawn into comparing my lovely, challenging ds1 with his similarly-aged (girl) cousins. Oh gawd, help me. Will not be MN until (possibly) Friday.

berolina · 15/06/2008 19:15

(but will hopefully be back here later tonight)

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 19:18

I love the sound of Brave Dave - what a hero. Definitely give him a reward. Make him a bravery badge.

The pre-raphelite things all remind me of a girl I was in halls of residence with who had long red hair and was very pale and dramatic and her room was full of those pictures and she was a pain in the arse.

My step sister came round this afternoon and I totally guessed she was pregnant - which she was probably relieved about because now she can join a mn antenatal group as she's had to lurk in case I spotted her! Am very pleased for her as it's a bit of a miracle really and they were about to have IVF.

We all had a 2 hour sleep this afternoon, which has NEVER happened, and I'm not quite sure how. We all just fell asleep, and woke up and it was dinner time and dp due back from London.

LullyOfShallot · 15/06/2008 19:21

forgot to say
Ds wanted to know the 10/10 title today...he needed an explanation so I let him listen on you tube

at lunch he suddenly launched into a loud version..
CANTALOUPE,CANTALOUPE,CAN WE EAT THE BAD MANGO

Dh was very & so ds said
Oh Daddy, you wont know that song
Mummy's friend the Queen sings it

Boco · 15/06/2008 19:21

Good luck Bero.

UnderRated · 15/06/2008 19:27

OK, been shopping so now have lots of F&V in. Am enjoying a fab sarnie full of homegrown lettuce, spinach and basil. I forgot how good homegrown lettuce tastes. I think it is probably only 1 portion but since it is homegrown, I shal count it as two

@ Bero's peppers and peas - mine are still only seedlings. Hope your visit goes well - sounds like it will be very stressful but I'll be sending calming vibes your way. A week is a long time - let us kow when you get back.

Congrats to Boco's step-sister

lol @ Lully's friend, the Queen
