Cantaloupe, cantaloupe! Will you eat the bad mango? - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

still here in pjs

I need advice on food you can cook in 40 mins which will feed adults and children oh dear but with meat

also advice on what to buy that keeps, i normally shop each day, cook and eat but I can only shop 2x a week at mo

I'm trying to just cook one meal a day too

it would be most appreciated but i understand everyone is busy

stuffitllama · 15/06/2008 09:27

actually forget the meat
if want to put in meat i'll just add a bit of bacon or chicken strips

Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 09:34

it is a very good title

I have to do father's day things too, will come to boot camp later though.

Stuffit, there isn't a recipe as such, it's a tabbouleh without the mint or bulghar wheat, so not really tabbouleh but same principle, lots of herbs, veg, lemon, oil and a bit of red wine vinegar and seasoning. I like those sunblush tomatoes chopped into mine, seems to intensify the flavour. It is important not to overcook it.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 09:34

stuffit can you bulk cook at all? you shouldn't have to cook a meal every day IMO
at least cook 3 portions, 2 for the week and one for the freezer
if you have more room and big pans then cook LOTS and LOTS
I have lots of waffle about bulk cooking I can direct you to

otherwise quick meals IME are:
omelette with salad
different salads, filling ones to make a whole meal eg with beans / chickpeas / avocado / egg / potato / cheese
pittas or tortillas with hummus and salad and so on
pasta with a simple sauce and lots of veg
mushroom stroganoff plus lots of veg
stir fry with rice or quinoa or noodles
leftover fried up veg and you bung some eggs in and bake it - with salad
soup can be quick - might be longer than 40 mins inc prep but if it takes an hour and you get several meals out of it I reckon that is fair enough

Stuffit how long before you leave? Are you excited or just scared?

stuffitllama · 15/06/2008 09:52

about a month

Boco · 15/06/2008 09:54

oh, yes.

Tatties · 15/06/2008 09:58

Morning all! Lots to do today

Franny I did mooing during contractions/involuntary pushing. It was very instinctive. I think dp was a bit worried by it though. I don't think I wanted to make a noise when actually pushing ds out.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 10:06

I am jealous now
how come I get the world's only anti-mooing midwife

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 15/06/2008 10:10

my midwife said/implied/suggested when she dropped my home birth pack off that I wouldn't be making a lot of noise now would I?

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 10:13

LOL
she was at the "Let's Not Make an Unseemly Fuss About This Now Ladies" academy with my midwife

I can't eat breakfast because the soya milk is all gone and I have to be motherly and considerate and allow smaller persons to eat the bread. We don't seem to have much of anything. Except potatoes. And I can't face cooking potatoes while I am this hungry. There isn't even any cake or chocolate.
Had v. v. bad night - dd2 up lots of times for water/bf/wees. Didn't really sleep much in between.

Great title, even if it wasn't one of mine. Actually, it is better than mine.

FrannyandZooey · 15/06/2008 10:18

yours were so good I couldn't choose between them TooT [angelic]

we must find you something to eat
have you bananas
