For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

why are my O's I's?

Who is mango?

alarkaspree · 08/06/2008 21:24

Hello, one of the newbies reporting in. I have had a shameful weekend, fruit and veg-wise (Carb-loading, combined with lazy and not at home much). Did triathlon so shit-hot, exercise-wise.

Oh also I went to f&v heaven on Friday lunchtime - Ottolenghi on Upper Street. Even dh said he would be happy to eat salads all the time if they tasted like that. So I'm half-thinking of buying the Ottolenghi cookbook but half thinking that it all looks like a lot of trouble for food that the dcs won't touch with a bargepole. Does anyone have it, or has regularly (or occasionally) cooked his recipes from the Saturday Guardian magazine?

womblingalong · 08/06/2008 21:29

Hi all,

Just checking in before going to mow lawn!

2 strawberries, watercress, green beans, lettuce ( a whole one) - v poor indeed.

BTW, I was aMango.

TheMangoWhoKnewTooMuch · 08/06/2008 21:29

Ooh alarka

I am a big fan of Yotam Ottolenghi - made the vegetable paella from the Guardian a few weeks back - mmmmm!

Guada 'tis only me, FK.

womblingalong · 08/06/2008 21:30

Oh exercise: 2 hours walking (to pub)

TheMangoWhoKnewTooMuch · 08/06/2008 21:31

Wombling it must have been a good pub

alarkaspree · 08/06/2008 21:33

So was the vegetable paella time-consuming, clevermango? I look at the recipes and they seem to have so many ingredients. But on closer inspection yesterdays very unappealing pancake's ingredients were teaspoonfuls of this and that for a dipping sauce, so I suppose not too time-consuming.

womblingalong · 08/06/2008 21:46

not bad fk, an hour here, and 1 back btw, along the river, and back via the funfair for dd!

womblingalong · 08/06/2008 21:48

(am back because lawn mower broke after 2 square metres had been mowed, bugger - the grass is up to dd's waist )

Habbibu · 08/06/2008 21:59

Ha ha! I was actually searching for a poem by Hovis Presley which would put an end to the Baby Names threads once and for all, but found the list instead.
I think I may rejoin you, m'dears - operation getHabIntoBetterShape starts soon, and although my intake has not been huge today, my vegetable garden has trebled in size, and my exercise (gardening) is way over the 10 mins...
