For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

OsmosisBanana · 08/06/2008 19:38

Just checkin' in, will read what horrors have occured later.

Um... a small amount of rocket.

That's it. All weekend.

Was mostly in the car or at BBQ though so hardly surprising. Am on mega F&V ONLY fortnight starting tomoz though as am going to surf festival on 20th June onwards and am scared of looking like a fat old fogey.

Have made nice with the other girl involved in last weeks saga. Feel very sane and whole now. Most odd.

Only exercise today trying to stop DD1 from drowning herself at lake in park.

Otherwise (with strict ref to the list for quantities).. dried fruit in breakfast muesli, a banana, baked beans at lunch (do they count?), butternut squash, parsnips, sweetcorn and green beans at dinner. But there wasn't much squash and DD1 nicked most of the sweetcorn. So I'll make that 5.5 if I can have the beans..

Off to have Eton Mess now, but I think even at my most optimistic I can't really count the fruit in that..

FrannyandZooey · 08/06/2008 19:54

course you can! what are you having it with - berries?

FrannyandZooey · 08/06/2008 19:54

and yes baked beans count
5 a day guidelines say only 1 portion of beans / pulses and 1 portion of fruit juice counts per day, but we're doing 10 so you can double it

littlerach · 08/06/2008 20:06

God I love Eton mess.

WE had a BBQ.
I had roasted carrots, corn, mange touts and brocolli, and tomatoes. They were delicious.
Everyone else had little kebaby things, And sausgaes.

Then i found a pandoro cake that I boght at xmas. So the girls and i had that with strawberry jam. Yum.

Exercise??? DH and i had a very competitive game of swingball that dd1 got for her birthday.

And we moved the compost bin into the new garden.
Flippin heck, that was amazing. Firstly, it really had turned into cpmpost.
Secondly, when we pulled the bin off, it just stayed there\

Streaming eyes and itvchy throat.
Ick.

Oh me too, little rach, this cold is quite tiresome. I have swallowed my own weight in vitC, echinacea and the like today.

We had a lovely barbeque though, trout and cous cous and watercress and at least a portion of fruit in the Pimms. I intend to eat apples and oranges and then go to bed before 9pm.

Guadalupe · 08/06/2008 20:13

Habbibu - that's cheating

lolol i l,ike the head of alfalfa garcia too

Guadalupe · 08/06/2008 21:06

I have seen a book of vegetable puns advertised in a newspaper supplement once and I turned the page. I did. I don't know why really.

Avi - I fancy apple cake too, my friend makes a delicious one but I can't seem to get it right.

Boco · 08/06/2008 21:09

Head of alfalfa garcia is excellent!

Everyone just left! Hooray! Feet are aching.

Franny you were right about thread, was very nice and supportive and thoughtful and thought provoking. I wasn't expecting it to be quite so in my favour to start with, but then was very surprised when it turned today. Only on mn could you be told you are very reasonable and very nasty at the same time! I don't think I could have taken a witch hunt actually, realised that I do care what a bunch of internet sprites think, when thomcat so fiercely disagreed. However, I am glad I didn't relent, and they clearly had a very nice day today. They're coming back in the morning, so they don't need to feel too hard done by.

Party was lovely, might show you some pictures tomorrow if you'd like to see the wondrous rhino that dp made.

TheMangoWhoKnewTooMuch · 08/06/2008 21:12

Genius, habbibu

Guadalupe · 08/06/2008 21:20

Thomcat did backtrack though, she said she was biased as her relationship with in-laws is good.

whi is the mangi?
