For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh no nothing wrong AFAIK
thankyou, I am excited about it

OsmosisBanana · 11/06/2008 10:40

Sorry UR, went to bed almost immediately after posting as realised it wasn't actually the weekend and I do actually have a job. Had convinced myself otherwise.

Jim didn't go mental at my atrocious effort at putting up the shelves, which is pleasing.

My strimming looks less impressive this morning than it did last night in the pitch black. Hmm. Another go this evening may be in order. And then I can progress to the mower!!!!! Lorks, life doesn't get any better does it?!?!?!

Am I being a fool? Will I be saddled with this chore forever? Maybe I shall just do it badly and thus get the enjoyment of it now but not get invited back for another go?

Do I need to get DH a F Day card?

OsmosisBanana · 11/06/2008 10:45

Scan - how fun, I loved my scans so much I paid to have 2 extra ones. PFB and all that. Now I wish I could sometimes just put her back in there for a bit! We only get one 20wk anomoly scan in Briz but I believe in other parts of the country you get a 12wk one thrown in too.

2.6 bananas
grapes
2 plums

too much green tea - now a bit mental.

I dreamt I was in labour last night (which came as a bit of a shock not knowing I was pregnant) whilst in an empty bath. I was incredibly angry as it meant I was going to miss my leaving party presents at work and I wouldn't be able to go to college unless I didn't BF at all. Most irritatingly though I woke up before I got to see what my dream baby looked like.

Nothing quite as boring as other peoples dreams is there?

OsmosisBanana · 11/06/2008 11:03

Is there any kind of tool you can use which highlights if people lurk? Actually, I hope not... Then those that I stalk would know [evil cackle]

Boco · 11/06/2008 11:41

Ohh Franny, how exciting about the scan!

Just had first driving lesson in a few weeks, so was horrendously nervous and kept waking up in the night and counting how many hours, then throughout the lesson I kept checking the clock more than the speedometer, but it was kind of ok. He kept calling me a numpty though, which I found objectionable. And his catch phrase seems to be 'don't you shilly-shally!' which is annoying after a while.

Now I can eat.

Guadalupe · 11/06/2008 11:50

numpty? Can you tell him you don't find it helps your self esteen and confidence to be called a numpty? He sounds like a knob.

OB - do you like Dilbert then? I find that kind of thing eye-ballingly dreary.

Franny - hurray for the scan. I always loved mine but I was annoyed about one late one that a doctor sprung on me, wanted to check the position he said. The midwives usually do that manually I replied but we had been having a difficult appointment anyway. By that, I mean he thought I was difficult and I thought he was a prat.

I have not eaten any fruit or vegetables yet today.

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2008 11:53

oh Boco
it's fab how you are persevering with it
I do hope it all clicks or whatever, or at least gets easier

one large mango all to myself
grapes

OB yes get card and also present if you expect / would like mother's day present
if you think it's all a bit commercial (well no shit sherlock) then do breakfast in bed and a card lovingly daubed created bydc

FrayedKnot · 11/06/2008 11:55

Gaaah just lost a long post.

Hello.

DS poorly, we are at home.

Am very excited for you about the scan, Frannoir.

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2008 11:55

I've so screwed up this application for my maternity benefit
I still haven't even got the bill for NI which I need to pay before I can even apply for the benefit
a letter came from NI this morning and we got v excited but it was my small earnings exception form turning up at long last
which I applied for in April
and which I am now applying to have revoked
oh hell
am running out of ME MONEY

FrannyandZooey · 11/06/2008 11:56

thank you all for being kind about my very long and very tedious pg

FK hope ds rallies

Boco · 11/06/2008 11:57

He's by FAR the best instructor I've had, and a good teacher, I think I will just have to suck up the numpty and the shilly shallying and be happy it's not hand holding or yelling. I like him in a way too, he's very much like one of those sit-coms from when we were little, like Terry and June or Dad's Army or something, all camp and moustachey.

Boco · 11/06/2008 12:00

FK what's wrong with DS, hope he's ok.

DD1 lost her first ever tooth last night. Was big thing. Well, very tiny tooth. Only just remembered tooth fairy thing in time. She woke up this morning and said she had felt the tooth fairy creeping under her pillow and had stayed very still.

OsmosisBanana · 11/06/2008 12:00

I haven't read any Dilbert for some time. Dad used to buy the books when we lived in Zam. Not much else going on out there.... Think it's funnier if read as a book rather than as a one a day in a newspaper.

I'm not usually into eye ballingly dreary stuff. Unless you count strimming. Endless strimming.

FrayedKnot · 11/06/2008 12:11

I am not really sure what's up with DS. High temp yesterday, was sick once, still got a temp today. he's asleep on the sofa at the moment. It might be the same as I had last week (just a bad cold) as he says he's got a sore throat.

Hope he's better tomorrow as we have a school visit and this is the first one when we go together to story time. The next one after that parents are encouraged to leave them for half an hour so I really want to do this one first.

Boco's Driving Instructor

Guadalupe · 11/06/2008 12:20

I could do with a strimmer, the mower won't get the tufts at the edge of the grass which is sort of in a circle. It looks a bit like a flan case.

Franny - it has not been long and tedious, it is exciting, and you really haven't gone on about it that much. I forgot you were pregnant for ages.

I have improved my comsumption by also eating a whole mango. I don't know why I feel guilty about it. I know ds would love some I suppose. But he is asleep.

Boco · 11/06/2008 12:26

the one in the middle looks EXACTLY like driving instructor

Guadalupe · 11/06/2008 12:28

middle front or middle back?

middle back doesn't look bad

Boco · 11/06/2008 12:29

Middle front - the one with the big gun. Not that he has a gun in real life. And doesn't wear a uniform, but he looks exactly like that.

TigerFeet · 11/06/2008 12:33

We have a strimmer, it was a real cheapie but fine for doing round the edges of the lawn. Heavy duty one not required for the little tufts of grass that get chopped up with ours. Great for goign round the bottom of dd's swing

Boco if it's any consolation it took me a total of 7 years and about 70 lessons to pass my driving tests - one set of about 30 lessons then a failed test followed by the remaining lessons and a passed test years later. The second time I tried, the instructor thought he could get me to test standard in about 5 lessons because I had (sort of) got there before and was almost good enough but I just couldn't get any better and I found it dreadfully stressful and upsetting. I don't think I was expected to pass my test but I took it the day I handed in my dissertation at university and I was so stressed about that I relaxed and breezed through the test with only 3 or 4 minor faults. Something just wouldn't click, and it was only when I relaxed (due to being knackered and stressed about something else admittedly) that I could do it properly.

Hoep ds is on the mend soon FK, i hate it when little ones are poorly [maternal]

Franny you are far from boring - I love pregancy/birth/baby anecdotes

Shit I'm doing that thing that cod hates where you list everyone and have separate conversations...

I am stressed about a reshuffle at work. There is a thread if you feel the need fir tedium to learn more. SHould find out about p/t hours today

OsmosisBanana · 11/06/2008 13:04

Just went to a cafe for lunch where they do thai curries and the like for cheapness. Had tom yum soup - was bloody awful.. No lemon grass or lime leaves in sight! To say nothing of the lack of chilli. Surely if those 3 things are not present it is not tom yum soup so much as stock with bits in it.

I am remarkably angry about this. Need to remember there are millions of people out there who are not only starving but have never had a decent tom yum soup.

I am making the most ridiculously complicated compliance report for one of the renal consultants EVER. It has taken me 4 hours so far. It involves moving tabs and inserting symbols, drawing lines of different thicknesses, organisational charts etc etc and a counter. I have a large headache coming and I'm not supposed to be drinking either!!

Hopefully strimming session will resolve my anger management issues.

stock doesn't really count as veg does it? Thought not.

Hello. I managed 9 yesterday in the end, today not going so well, I haven't had time to make proper lunch (although I have time to post about my lack of lunch here) so had some leftover pie. It did have some vegetation in it but certainly not as much as a portion.

Franny I hope your scan went well. Scans are one of the nicest things about being pregnant ime. They always made me well up.

Boco I think people who find it difficult to learn to drive make the best drivers in the end.

stuffedaubergine · 11/06/2008 14:42

hello all
boco good luck with the driving .. you will pass, I'm sure you're a brilliant driver just nervy
took me three tests and ahem number of years to pass mine
good luck with the scan fran

apomegranate can you say something to me, even though it would have to be about cleaning

OsmosisBanana · 11/06/2008 14:54

I have to walk home from nursery today. That's a good 1.5 hours with a few hills thrown in for good measure. Nightmare.

Maybe it means I can have a biscuit though.

talilac · 11/06/2008 15:45

OB - you have to walk 1.5 hours to earn 1 biscuit?

(calculates madly) right so I now have to walk for 9hrs after the half pack of oat & honey cookies I just ate.. Oh dear.

In my defence: 1 banana, 2 portions of various salady stuff, plus 1 portion falafel with humus.. So I'm doing okayish.

Plus I got my first period since I got pg with DD1 in 2005 today so I think I deserve those biscuits..

Hope it went well Franny..
