For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I saw that link, some of those things look fun. I tried this site today, Tulip and Nettle but I couldn't work out if I liked them or not.

TheMangoWhoKnewTooMuch · 09/06/2008 20:56

Oh sorry, it's tomorrow Franny

Yes, teh HOG woman is horrible.

Avi

Guadalupe · 09/06/2008 20:56

I decided not enough to buy anyway.

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2008 20:56

she kept saying "just tell him mummies cannot stay, like at school"
in the end she said "does he GO to school?"
I said no.
so she now has confirmation I am mad over protective parent who is actively encouraging my child to be clingy for my own self esteem

the thing is, the teacher has been saying for a month "it is FINE you can STAY" so I have been dealing with the wobbles by saying "look I can STAY the teacher says it is FINE" which did today reassure him enough to get in the door and get started

he LOVES it once he gets going, he looks so happy and when he comes out he is bouncing and skipping
it's so pointless, there is no harm in me being there at all

hope it passes soon avi
you are allowed to be irrationally upset about things the same as the rest of us

lionheart · 09/06/2008 21:00

Not sure whether it should be mock or rock but I like your rendition very much fmv.

Have had tomato, cuc, satsumas, apple, smoothie and water cress but that probably doesn't count because one portion would have to be about half a tons worth.

Still that's not bad for getting back on the wagon.

TheMangoWhoKnewTooMuch · 09/06/2008 21:01

I am trying to do no buying atm.

Habbibu · 09/06/2008 21:01

Ah, I'm barely back, but am sheepish at the welcome! Not great today - 2 apples, half a banana and peppers, chickpeas and tomatoes in a stew. Bit fed up tonight so have mostly demolished a box of chocolates. blee.

it is not doing any harm, Franny, but it is not obeying the rules and she is the boss. This is annoying her, clearly. What was the upshot?

Sorry, Avi, cow was a string word. I am used to everybody's family being really awful atm. Yes, you are allowed to be sensitive. God, I am. My period was due today. I am expecting the PMT to sort of ping and stop seen as there isn't the usual marker.

I loath that not making an exception attitude. It's not school, it's a gym class ffs.

lionheart · 09/06/2008 21:23

That woman is just plain daft Franny.

lionheart · 09/06/2008 21:24

There should be a comma in there somewhere (apologies, Franny, it came out wrong) .

Guadalupe · 09/06/2008 21:25

I thought you said 'that woman is a daft fanny' at first glance

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2008 21:25

I am not sure what the upshot was
in her mind, I think, that I will not transgress again
in my mind, that I will bribe ds hugely next week in hopes that he can manage to go straight in by himself as I reckon she will be checking
and after that that I will hope she is not around and ignore her and do what I please
but if she makes me send him in when he is not ready to go in, resulting in him freaking out and having to come home and miss the session, then I will have to discuss it with her further
because it will end up with him completely put off the whole activity, when he has actually been settling in very nicely, at his own pace, and I will hold her personally responsible if he can't attend because of this rigid and discriminatory tosh

lionheart · 09/06/2008 21:30

I had to check that I managed to put the R in there, Guadalupe.

What did your DS have to say about it Franny?

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2008 21:33

luckily he doesn't know
he was joining in, and I was leaving, when she came over and told me I couldn't stay in future
I have had a chat with him about what he doesn;t like about the beginning part of the session
that's the hurdle we need to get over - he loves the rest

lionheart · 09/06/2008 21:34

She will need a talking to, methinks.

lionheart · 09/06/2008 21:35

Sorry, rather rusty posting technique, a talking to ...

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2008 21:36

she is the boss unfortunately
aaaargh
he'd be fine if she just left me to it
I do actually know how to handle this better than she does, funnily enough

lionheart · 09/06/2008 21:38

Why does she have to make it an issue though? Is it a territorial thing?

talilac · 09/06/2008 21:39

banana, big old salad with beans, beansprouts, rocket, tomatoes (fresh and dried), peppers and onion. Glass juice. French beans, strawberries.

um, 7 cos the salad was large but the individual portions were small..

Still no exercise though.
