It’s basically burnt my fingers, I was putting it on DH’s back for him and it suddenly felt like my fingers were burning. I don’t know if it’s an allergic reaction or a burn. DH is fine. I’ve never used it before.

Was I the only one?

You were the worst. You told her she wasn’t burnt when she said she was.

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 19/11/2024 18:01

Ouch OP! I'm so pleased you're getting that checked. It looks like a chemical burn!!
Hope they can give you some relief from the pain.

ThisGreyPanda · 19/11/2024 18:08

Wonder if you have had anything else on your hands that it has reacted with...such as alcohol gel?

mumda · 19/11/2024 18:20

Hope you don't have a long wait in a&e.

Respectisnotoptional · 19/11/2024 18:30

Oh dear that looks incredibly painful, I hope you get seen quickly OP.

lochmaree · 19/11/2024 18:56

Any update op? Hope you're ok ❤️

Yourinmyspot · 19/11/2024 19:17

I’m still in a&e waiting for it to be dressed, luckily they think it’s only first degree burns. They have given me some painkillers and a dose of IV antibiotics as apparently it’s at high risk of getting infected. Hopefully home soon.

Yikes only first degree burns! Hope you get home soon x

bonkersplonkers · 19/11/2024 19:27

Ouch that looks really sore. I hope you don't have too long to wait

CustardySergeant · 19/11/2024 19:33

Well I hope the painkillers work well and that the burns heal soon. What an awful thing to happen.

Starlightstarbright4 · 19/11/2024 19:42

Glad you were seen .. hopefully not too long now and Dh can apply his own deep heat - although I would be concerned with you having any contact - cuddling up to him as you have such a severe reaction

LittleBobbyDazzler · 19/11/2024 19:43

I'll admit I thought you were being a bit of a drama queen with your OP but that photo made me say "shitting hell' out loud. I do hope you're ok, glad someone is looking at them and they can give you an idea of a possible cause. You poor thing.

Get the spray for your DH next time lol.

Is that the key issue? Your disdain stood out.

It is the key issue between us. I think you overlayed a tone you read my post. I was trying to reassure the OP.

Eek! Will you be able to rest up tomorrow? Your hand might be out of action for a few days.

Categorically telling someone that they don’t have a burn when they actually do is more than “tone”. Were you unaware of chemical burns?

StormingNorman · 19/11/2024 14:18

Wash your hands and take a couple of antihistamines. You’re not burnt, you’re just having a reaction to something in the cream. Like when you rub your face with chilli hands.

Looks burnt to me

Also this is a really good example of why nobody on mumsnet should try and armchair diagnose, based on anything really, but particularly not based on what an OP is writing.

Absolutely

FlutteryButterfly · 19/11/2024 21:23

To be fair @StormingNorman posted that before the photo update! From the OP it didn't sound this bad. Enough of the derailing, @Yourinmyspot hope all is well 🙏

I don’t know if it’s an allergic reaction or a burn

How can anyone possibly say without seeing it that it isn't a burn..

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/11/2024 21:30

I hope you're feeling better soon OP. You may have saved others from the same fate by posting. My DH uses Deep Heat although he's never needed help applying it, but now I know to use a glove if he ever does need help as I am sensitive to aspirin and am also reactive to random things sometimes resulting in fluid-filled blisters.

Yourinmyspot · 19/11/2024 21:32

Thank you to you all for the advice and kind words. I’m home now, got some antibiotics and pain killers. All bandaged up, I’ve got to to go back tomorrow to have it looked at but they think it will heal okay, ‘luckily’ they are first degree burns so not too deep just very sore. They said it’s a burn rather than an allergic reaction, it can happen but fairly rare. I’m going to try and get some sleep now I feel worn out.
