For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

what to do with asparagus
large bag donated from friend's garden

soup? it's pretty well grown

also do you eat cauli leaves
sometimes I cook the baby ones but most of the big ones I chuck
I know broccoli leaves have more goodness than the flower so d'y think the same is true of cauli

UnderRated · 03/05/2008 19:49

Hello

Feeling a bit bleurgh today. Went downtown to buy some much needed t-shirts etc and ended up at the library where they didn't have the books I wanted. I should go for a run but I'm feeling lazy.

Hope MrsC is ok

UnderRated · 03/05/2008 19:50

Yum, I'd love to grow asparagus. Steam it, soup, erm... not sure what else one does with it actually.

I don't eat cauli leaves but I am sure you can.

stuffitllama · 03/05/2008 19:58

it's going to be soup I reckon but i'll have to wait till Monday
I'm no good at soup and it will be day peering into a steamy saucepan and waiting for failure

sorry about vaguely crappy feeling ur

pinkspottywellies · 03/05/2008 20:00

Franny don't try to count egg and potato to make your list look longer!

littlerach · 03/05/2008 20:03

I bought round courgettes today at the market.
And funny lychees.

UnderRated · 03/05/2008 20:05

Funny lychees?

Will send you soupy vibes on Monday, stuffit!

stuffitllama · 03/05/2008 20:06

gawd will need them
a round courgette? now there's a curiosity

TigerFeet · 03/05/2008 20:09

No news on MrsC? [pace]

stuffit could you blanch it and freeze it?

Today:
chopped dates
sultanas
mahoosive salad made up of tomatoes, celery, cucumber, onion, radish, grapes, red pepper
beetroot

dd went to a birthday party today with an entertainer. She loved it but it was a fancy dress party and she insisted on stupid clipcloppy play shoes and kept slipping and falling . We have agreed - no more silly shoes for parties until she is 21. I intend to hold her to it

[bounce] [bounce] [bounce]

Have been to a canal boat festival which was lovely and we ate ice cream and admired all the boats and fantasised about what colours to paint ours...which is hopefully starting journey up north on monday!

And ds1 blagged a zillion goes on a climbing wall.

And we ate more ice cream. Then took mum and dad for nice pub lunch. Came back, drank tea in the garden.

Then ds2 and I went for a bike ride and somehow found ourseleves at a country pub with garden and stream. And friedns were there!

And came home. And put new table (scored from freecycle) in garden. And went to allotment to take old table there. And then ds2 and I mowed the lawn and did back garden pot planting.

And now ds1 and 2 are in the campervan ''because it's our happy place mum'' playing.

And I am going to have big glass of chilled white wine...

See what a bit of sunshine does for me??

Boco · 03/05/2008 20:14

Have heard from MrsC.
She's ok. She says she's in a lot of pain and feeling very emotional, but ok.
She says she's not felt up to opening her parcels yet, but will do hopefully tomorrow.
I sent her lots of love from everyone and told her we were all thinking of her.
Poor MrsC, hope she's feeling more comfortable tomorrow.

Fullmoonfiend · 03/05/2008 20:16

oh thank you for letting us know Boco. Poor darling.

(I was pacing inbetween bouncing you know...)

UnderRated · 03/05/2008 20:18

Boco, thank you for keeping us posted. I'm glad MrsC is ok, if emotional and in pain. That's to be expected, I suppose

FMF, I'm exhausted just reading about your day. Sounds lovely.

TigerFeet · 03/05/2008 20:25
