For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooT please let us know when some news very sorry to hear it is worse. Eye injuries are so scary but you are doing the right thing - hopefully it is just swollen from the bruising etc coming out

Avi yup that was the website that put the fear of god into me. They have some fact sheets which explain how to cope when you are in a wheelchair, how to claim disability living allowance, how to give birth with your legs shut, how to manage with a new baby that you can't pick up. Nothing that I read anywhere about the fact that it may be mild, not get any worse, etc.

Lully VERY pleased for you

Boco you must go in another room and not listen. You can't hear your mother talking about her clitoris, you will need more therapy than is healthy for you

Bero I hope ds1 settles ok.

Lully you must be jumping for joy

Boco and MrsC have a lovely lunch

Paps - good to see you, hooray for the wonderful Nigel and his pumpkins, eh?

Franny I would run a mile from perineal massage

littlerach · 28/04/2008 13:00

TooTicky, hope the boy is okay, and that you manage Bath. I feel like that if I htink of driving in Bristol.

Muslai.
Salad.
Beans.
Chcolate cake
Coffee.

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2008 13:11

no-one is ever touching my perineum again as far as I am concerned

have just had hideous situation with ds having meltdowns while 2 extra children here
me being firm (ok arsey) and then dp stepping in to do whatever it was I had asked ds to do each time
I am starting to wonder if half this whiny stuff at weekends is because it does actually get the job done with dp, whereas I will ignore it or get cross
but I am loathe to blame problems on dp's so called inferior parenting because I think he is a GOOD parent

but I do, I do think he needs to be a bit firmer and more assertive now ds is older
5 year olds don't need the same touch as 3 year olds, it seems to me oh dear don't see this being a very good situation if I try to express this to dp

S1ur · 28/04/2008 13:26

Oh Fran it is difficult when parenting sytles begin to collide a bit. Can you practise expressing what you mean on us? As preparation for talking to dp?
Is it that you feel like he is capitualting to much in order to avoid conflict? Is there a way you can get together to remind yourselves what your priorities are for 'foot putting down' and what are okay to compromise about or ignore?

Congrats to Lully!! and her ds of course

TooT Oh the poor poor love. Has he been on anti-bs? I know when my friends (both of them) had scratched corneas the key was to avoid infection and then they cleared up pretty quickly. I really hope they can sort it quickly at hospital.

S1ur · 28/04/2008 13:29

Ooops, yes I have eaten today also.

mushrooms, leaves of various kinds, tomatos, cucumber, blueberries and apples.

Am off to grab dried apricots - need a boost or I may fall asleep.

Boco - Enjoy your lunch and explicit sex talk with your mummy.

Tatties · 28/04/2008 13:29

How does it go if you and dp have a talk about the whiny situations? (when ds is in bed or whatever) More along the lines of discussing what you both think is causing it, what you think works, what new approaches you could take? I have to be really careful to start a discussion like this so that I don't sound too accusing. But I find that I really have too make an effort to get the discussions going if there's something I'm not happy with as dp doesn't really talk much about this kind of thing unless prompted... Sorry if you have tried this already

Tatties · 28/04/2008 13:31

Slur have you got any tart little satsumas or clementines? I always find they perk me up a bit

Tatties · 28/04/2008 13:41

we need news

MrsCarrot · 28/04/2008 17:53

Oh dear, Toot, I hope it's okay and that he's not in too much pain with it. Let us know when you can.

Well, Boco's mother was wonderful as you can imagine. She was so kind to come and see me, especially as she took a day off work as well. I feel a lot better for speaking to her, it made such a difference to talk in person to someone with experience. Boco went in to stir the salad or something that didn't need doing at a certain point.

I was also given a beautiful lino print that looks amazing on the blue wall. Thank you, Boco. I should get you to sign it shouldn't I, or is it signed under the frame? DH is also pleased to see me looking a bit more relaxed, though I wasn't over lunch. I felt like I was flapping all over the place faintly hysterically (excuse pun).

Lots of salad today, and fruit, no veg. I am going out later so more midweek drinks. Abstinence starts tomorrow.

Fullmoonfiend · 28/04/2008 18:38

MrsC, I am glad it was helpful! How kind of Boco and Boco's mum....
xxx

MrsCarrot · 28/04/2008 18:43

Wasn't it? I was quite overwhelmed by the offer, and it was so helpful and reassuring.

Also the gp was great this morning. She was furious with the HERS thing and gently reminded me of the importance of having it done, which I had kind of lost sight of in the last few days, bizarrely.

FrannyandZooey · 28/04/2008 18:44

oh fab oh hoorah for Boco's mum
so was she still able to shag everything in sight like Avi's sister, MrsC? Write it v small so Boco can't read it

lullabyloo · 28/04/2008 18:46

Hope things are better for the Toot family.

How lovely to get flowers, Lully.

MrsC, I am glad your gp was king and gentle and supportive. I am thinking of you lots.
