For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Sounds painful, LR. Are you allergic to something?

I want to see this mug.

MrsCarrot · 01/05/2008 19:26

no, I doubt I will be getting my 10 a day though I have been a bit slack lately. I have my own tea, towels and pillows and stuff. New slippers, new hot water bottle and mahoosive bottle of anti bac gel and tea-tree oil to scatter about.

I have even got some crying choc in case I like someone very much and want to give it to them.
I am always up for converting. Perhaps I should lurk behind the snack trolley and plug a square when someone asks for a twix.

Boco · 01/05/2008 19:31

You do sound more positive and prepared mrsc. Feel totally stupid mentioning tiny biopsy thing in the post before you.
Good luck, let me know if I can do anything or bring anything or anything.

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2008 19:33

everyone is allowed to mention their tiny things
biopsy not exactly miniscule anyway Boco if we are comparing

MrsC what time are you going in? Who can tell us how you are? Will dp bring your post to the hospital? [innocent]

Yes take lots of fruit and snacks MrsC.

I nearly starved in that hospital after having DS. For some reason they missed me out twice on the round when they take the orders and I had to ring DH and get him to bring me food.

Though I hope your ward will be less chaotic than the PN ward.

Franny please can I borrow some of your marvellous flora? I am still in pain.

However, I did make, and eat, the veggie paella and it was superb...had peppers, baby corn, courgettes, celery, red onion, cherry toms, mushorroms in.

I think the key was I used some proper paella rice, called Bomba, from Waitrose I think. Can very much recommend.

MrsC, will someone be able to let us know you are ok?

Not that you'll be worrying about how to let us know - I know you have enough to think about.

MrsCarrot · 01/05/2008 19:37

oh, please don't feel stupid, we have already said there is to be no affliction hierachy on 10/10.

Thanks, though, I am almost looking forward to the morning tbh, just want it out of the way now. They only lifted a visiting ban yesterday, no-one has been allowed to visit for 11 days because of a vomiting bug, can you believe it? I have to feed ds2 every day, that would have been awful.

MrsCarrot · 01/05/2008 19:41

Thanks for good wishes. I will let you know somehow, I will take my phone and either text Boco or get dh to pop on.

rushing in to 'good luck' mrsC - will think of you orange lady.

littlerach · 01/05/2008 20:12

All the best, MrsC.
Will be htinking of you.

I don't know what my bumps are.
They appeared the other day, and I rememeber getting them last year. My friend thinks it was this time too, so maybe soem allergy thing.
I have been rather paranoidly lookign at the cat and blaming him peroidically, but I use a flea treatment on him very regularly, and also it isn't flea bites.
They are very annoying.

MrsCarrot · 01/05/2008 20:12

BBee - you are always rushing!

I go in at 8am as long as there's a bed. I can eat a light breakfast before seven so I assume the op isn't until after lunch? I thought you couldn't eat for ages before.

ahundredtimes · 01/05/2008 20:16

Oh good luck MrsC. Very pleased to hear about hot water bottles and fluffy towels and tea tree oil. You will be perfect, offering squares of crying chocolate and getting everyone to wash their hands.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Lots of love.

TigerFeet · 01/05/2008 20:24

Best of luck Mrs C - I will be thinking of you and sending healing thoughts and non-constipatory vibes xx

I am going to put my name on a post for all you facebookers then delete it in a wee while...

TigerFeet · 01/05/2008 20:26

Cath Burns Chapman... only one of me so I am easy to find

Osmosis - am off to look for you now

TooTicky · 01/05/2008 21:04

MrsC, fgs I am not offended, you were supposed to laugh. Lots and lots of love.
In haste, dcs late to bed.

S1ur · 01/05/2008 21:09

Lots of luck and healing vibes MrsC!
xx

Managed veg pile tongiht so doing ok tday.

Boco - that sounds scary but ime or at least imfriendse biops are relatively quick and painless procedures. It is a good thing really, they'll be able to get a much clearer analysis of what your freaky unusual rash is.

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2008 21:27

cabbage and carrots
that was not the pile of veg I promised, was it? but there was lots of it
also 1 more apple
