For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yoga is lovely if anyone / anyone's DC does get the chance to try it. I had been longing to get back to it for years and couldn;t until recently.

It's an especially good antidote to too much typing

TooTicky · 30/04/2008 23:10

But how do you start FK? I'd feel like such a dunce. Physical things are not my forte.

The class I go to is a suitable for all abilities class, TooT. There is scope to work at your own pace - our teacher usually gives an easy option and a slightly harder one once you get your confidence up.

And also, yoga teachers are generally lovely and very inclusive, and most of the people in the class will probably be older than you and therefore youth has an advantage

I am going to a class at the gym but used to go to one at local leisure centre....Adult Education usually run loads of classes too.

It is very unlike any other form of exercise.

TooTicky · 30/04/2008 23:19

Well, when dcs are older....
unless I can find a daytime one when dd2 starts playgroup...or school...
Is it possible to do it with a book, by oneself?

Zippi, you reminded me that I like playing scrabble - I need to get back on facebook so I can play but everyone cheats and I get annoyed.

I am disappointed about the chickpea thing, Boco. Poor DD2.

Toot, I think you are doing the right thing, letting them spend their money on shite cherryade and the like, if they want.

Yoga is wonderful. I need to get back into it.
