For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Good luck MrsC.

TooTicky, what a surreal couple of days you've had. I hope he is okay, and you, and resting.
My dad had iron filings in his eye once, frm welding, and had to have small suregery on it. He was majorly freaked by the sight of a needle cominf towards his eye whilst his eye wa sclamped open .
But his eyes are fine now.

My mum always seemed to do great food, and variatuins too, but I rememebr saurtdays were the one day when we were allowed to eat in fornt of the TV, and we had chicken burghers, chips and sweetcorn

She made her own wine when I was small, and rolled her own

Tatties · 30/04/2008 09:53

Ok Avi no worries, let me know if it looks likely again

OsmosisBanana · 30/04/2008 10:44

raspberries, blueberries, oats and a banana.

So tired.

MrsCarrot · 30/04/2008 10:45

yes, I have decided not to say anything. I read their stuff and watched their video and I can't see how it was helpful to me to know that at all but anything I say won't change their need to inform women. I may change my mind and say somthing ungainly of course.

I don't want it to be deleted yet anyway, I have expat's very long list of things I need to pack!

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2008 11:01

I have met the beach volleyball player this morning. She is divine. She has the longest legs in history, and a fake tan and was just really, really lovely. I liked her a lot.

MrsC I saw it last night - I didn't post on your thread though because I couldn't remember whether you wanted the thread to be around. [convoluted] Anyway, I did report the HERS post last night.

Good luck at the hospital. Write down the questions you want to ask and take with you, in case you forget.

MrsCarrot · 30/04/2008 11:05

Thanks, 100, they are persistent but obviously believe in their cause.

I am writing a list at the moment. It is Very Long.

Au pair sounds lovely. Long brown legs, envy envy. Will you play volleyball with her?

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2008 11:10

Oh good grief, can you imagine? I am short and unatheletic to say the least. She is all leggy with bouncy blonde pony tail. She is v. nice. She smelt nice too. And had v. plucked eyebrows and white teeth.

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2008 11:18

People keep raising their eyebrows about her though, because of dh I think. Am I weird that that thought doesn't cross my mind AT ALL? I would much rather have a pretty leggy person in my house than an -ugly- not so attractive one.

MrsCarrot · 30/04/2008 11:19

I don't think I like over-plucked eyebrows. My sister used to draw hers back on with a pencil, it was scary.

Right, am off to see Mr Snip. I will be there three hours they say. Probably mostly waiting around.

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2008 11:19

Pah. How does the strike through facility work?

Right must go off and do things. Hope everything goes well for you MrsC.

Boco · 30/04/2008 11:32

Good luck with the surgeon MrsC, hope you get all your questions answered and feel reassured. Sounds like loads of people reported HERS, maybe mn should just ban them.

Tatties · 30/04/2008 11:37

like this 100 you need two hyphens either side. It wouldn't cross my mind to worry about leggy person around dp either.

Hope it goes ok MrsC

stuffitllama · 30/04/2008 11:37

Toot you poor thing I've just read up to your news about the op. Sending best wishes for complete healing .. lots of hugs for you both
xxx

berolina · 30/04/2008 11:39

Good morning (?) all. Good luck MrsC.

two hyphens each side 100x. Volleyballer sounds lovely.

Yesterday - apples (3), banana, OJ, raisins, cucumber, cherry tomato sauce on pasta (2 portions {shock]). Today - nowt yet but a few leaves of (home grown!) rocket, on fresh tortellini.

berolina · 30/04/2008 11:40

(that was lunch, btw, not breakfast. Oh, olive bread for breakfast. That counts)

S1ur · 30/04/2008 13:00

Afternoon.
Wow everyone has been so very full and wholesome today. Badges all round it seems. But not for me
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
and an apple. mmm not great there then

MrsC Good luck today, fingers crossed it all goes well and reassuring and that you get the answers you need

TooT your poor ds! I'm glad op went well and very good to hear all these other people here with similar experiences who have not suffered permanent damage. Well done you for being firm with the medicine, administering any medicine is pita but eye stuff is the very hardest. Good for you for getting it down.

100 - volleyball player sounds lovely, did ds like her? And have you discussed potential nudity with her?

Fran I asked my mate about spd and exercise, she said it was all about ab stuff to strengthen lower back. She also said she was fine almost immediately after giving birth but that she felt a bit more cautious for quite a while afterwards - she did swmming and yoga after to regain sterngth and balance. I almost asked about sex but.... dd and her ds started squabbling and I sort of missed the moment . I still say spoony style is the way to go!

S1ur · 30/04/2008 13:02

oh no not everyone just OB.

jolly good.

Well done OB

OsmosisBanana · 30/04/2008 13:23

Thanks. I have has a packet of snack a jacks too. Shameful I know. nasty things.

Any my boss just laughed at me. That's agood thing.

TooTicky · 30/04/2008 13:35

Thank you all for good wishes and all. It is good to know that people have come through these things okay.

Ds2 is quite bouncy but a bit shouty - I think he gets tired quite quickly.
And of course I keep having to do unpleasant things to him.
He is managing to half open his eye though and not wearing his sunglasses all the time, which he was before.

Am thinking of you MrsC.

FrayedKnot · 30/04/2008 16:03

Hello lovely veggers

I have ahd salad for lunch (am having it every day now so won;t bore you all)..I think people at work think all I eat is salad...they may well be right

I am just waiting for someone to ask, and me to say

"Well, it's like this..I belong to this internet group with a bunch of lovely lentilly people who try to eat 10 portions of f & v every day"

And watching them back politely away making teh sign of a cross behind their backs

I also had a fruit salad with pineapple, melon, mango and kiwi.

MrsC I hope everything went OK today.

I just realized my sister was at the same hospital as you I think, having some investigative things done today. I wonder if she asked about the handwashing, she said she didn;t think she would dare

TooT, glad DS is bouncy, at least some of the time.
