For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello everyone, Glad DS2 seems to be improving TooT.

Have had bit of lettuce, peach, apple, banana. so not more than 3 so far.

OsmosisBanana · 30/04/2008 16:30

I am going to Oxford for the BH to see some people who I haven't seen since I left school 10yearsago last year. Should be fun...... Or not. Slightly scared. Not least because I have to drive to Oxford. And in Oxford. Meep!

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 17:47

Mrs C Thinking of you, hope today was okay

Toot Glad ds is a little brighter

100 The volley ball girl sounds fun

Have been unable to move today due to sciatica, couldn't even take ds to nursey. He didn't mind tho as he's full of cold (as usual)

There is an amazing rainbow

FrannyandZooey · 30/04/2008 17:52

good afternoon chaps

Lully is that a back / trapped nerve thing? How is Avi's back today?

A friend is lending me a pelvic belt thing. Everyone I speak to says the physio sounds a bit suspect and why haven't they given me a belt. However doula has sent nice emails which was kind of her and she is coming on Sunday. I think I was a bit harsh saying she was not interested - I think I was very whiny and negative on the phone and tbh, what could she do? She encouraged me to be mroe positive, and said nice things, and it is not really her place to listen to me drone on for hours. You lot did that

Boco good work on MrsC's thread. Interested to hear how it went at the hosp MrsC.

Just had leftover frittata which had mushrooms, onions and courgettes, with a lovely pile of veg from our box: cabbage, carrots, broccoli. Oh and corn also.

Very odd email from my sports boss....he said initially a parent had rung to say her dc had chicken pox and she was worried about me re: pg. I emailed back and said no problem as I have had it. He replied with one line saying "you can tell you have had it"

wtf does that mean?????

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 17:56

How very dare he?
Was that an attempt to be funny?

FrannyandZooey · 30/04/2008 17:57

I really don't know
if so then fair enough I suppose (he is nice chap and sure he didn't mean it unpleasantly)

but I just don't really get it
he is saying I am pockmarked?

excuse me while I fall over laughing

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 17:59

Yes,it's like an electric shock running from bum ,down leg..down the sciatic nerve

I had it a lot when I was pg,but not since
I cant put my foot on the floor-same ruddy leg too..grrrrrrr

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 18:00

Ah,I read it as in had it,caput

FrannyandZooey · 30/04/2008 18:05

oh do you think? I am prepared to laugh if a joke but don't actually see which bit is funny

how nasty about the nerve - can anything relieve it?

UnderRated · 30/04/2008 18:08

MrsC, hope meeting people went well and was a bit reassuring.

I did not have a lentil weaving upbringing either although my Dad does have those tendancies. I grew up on his home-brew and 'free' blackberries (but not from below knee level in case a dog had peed on them)

Ahundred - the aupair sounds, well, like an aupair should, I suppose [stereotyping]. Glad she seems so promising.

I think corn cakes should count, Avi. Desperate times & all that

Hope the sciatica gets better soon, Lully. I have it occasionally and it is horrible. I can usually move in a certain way and my back clicks and it's all ok again but it is agnoy until then.

Franny, he sounds very rude.

Where's zippi? Is she peeing in pots again?

berolina · 30/04/2008 18:09

Glad ds is happier, TooT.

Franny - what a very odd comment. I think it was one of those didn't-think-it-through-and-now-foot-very-much-in-mouth things, probably. And I am sure you are not pockmarked. I imagine you as tall, slim, long-haired and generally delightful. Bet you look fab pg too. I look nice pg, but only because I have nice bumps.

Two apples, bits of cucumber and banana. For dinner we are having new potatoes cooked in their skins with salad (mixed leaves, tomato, cucumber, pumpkin seeds) and creme fraiche.

Tomorrow is a bank hol here (is it in the UK, too, or is it the Mon?), and ds1's kindergarten is shutting on Friday too . I am going to attempt to shift some of the huge list of things that didn't get done while the bero household was collectively struck down ill. That said, ds1 has a slightly raised temp yet again our bugs just seem to keep coming back.

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 18:10

Well, that's how I would have read it personally
I cant see that it could mean anything else
Just trying to be funny haha ..& failing somewhat

when I was pg,a hot bath helped
but couldn't even get in to one today
Didn't have to run about after a three year old then either
I suppose painkillers really...but I dont do those unless I have a migraine

Boco · 30/04/2008 18:10

Maybe he meant he could tell you'd have had it, as in, you're exposed to children all the time and he guessed that you would have done. Nothing else makes sense as you're distinctly smooth skinned and unpocky.

Nerve sounds horrid Lully - is there anything that makes it better?

I've done something annoying to my back too, but it's just from drawing in a stupid position too hunched over. I've lost my glasses. [disorganised and vague emoticon]

I'm making a jamie oliver chick pea italian thing. Following recipes is quite nice isn't it.

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 18:13

Oh dear...what's up with all of us/
Is it catching?

mmmmmmmmm chickpea thing sounds good
Can you read the recipe without your glasses?

Boco · 30/04/2008 18:16

I hope so, it does say Jam doesn't it?

Fullmoonfiend · 30/04/2008 18:18

oh recipes, shemcipes. A true artist in the kitchen just follows their instincts...

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 18:18

yup...um blackcurrant I think

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 18:19

fmf.....are you a bung it all in the pot & stir type?

Fullmoonfiend · 30/04/2008 18:19

oh yes....

I am a kitchen witch!

UnderRated · 30/04/2008 18:20

Do you know what triggers it, Lully?

I have aggravated my shoulder that I hurt at Christmas. I think I should have seen a dr then as it hasn't been right since but I haven't had the time. Pretending to be an aeroplane seems to not help.

Where is Jamie's chickpea thing? Is it in the Italy book?

FrannyandZooey · 30/04/2008 18:33

well will dismiss as not v good joke then
he is not at all rude man or whatever so must just be a mistake

melon (fab orange one), strawbs, apple

Thank you, Boco, that was kind of you. Good you got a reply so fast and that the director was sympathetic. Maybe someone will be having a word.

Well, the surgeon was, surgeon like. Efficient, male, very pleased with himself, that sort of thing. He was ok, but I recognised him from the cone biopsy I had a few years ago and I didn't take to him then. He explained why it needed to be done and also how rare it is, only ten cases a year like me, compared to hundreds and hundreds of the other kind. Not sure why he told me that.

It was funny though, as I bumped into the woman who went in after me at the cashpoint and I said how did you find him and she said he was nice. I said I didn't think he appreciated all my questions and she said she only had one and that was more of a statement and that she was frightened and he was lovely about it. Perhaps thats the kind of patient he likes rather tham me, I had two sides of A5 and wanted to read everything I had to sign in detail. Then when I ased what he would do with all the severed nerves/ligaments etc, he looked very put-out and said he would repair in the standard way. Well, what is the standard way, I ask, are they tied together or do they wave around or what, exactly? I like to know these things. Not everyone does obviously. I think he was glad when I went.

The other lady is going in on Friday too so I will recognise her on the ward which is nice.
She has fibroids and already has the menopause and when she asked what I had she did that sympathetic face that I am getting used to.

Right - off to the theatre in a minute. Am taking dcs to midsummer nights dream and frankly, I am not in the mood but tickets are bought and they are excited. I'll be alright when I get there. Hope dd doesn't fidget too much.

lullabyloo · 30/04/2008 18:37

How lovely
Could I borrow her tomorrow?
